Nude Movement

This Hindu and Buddhist concept of renunciation deals with giving up worldly life and the material possessions that represent it. Those who renounce that life live without aim and benefit from the peace that provides. 

The idea is that having a goal might be important to a worldly life, but shedding goals is crucial to a healthy spiritual life of acceptance.

Modern discussions of these ideas might take place within conversations on emotional intelligence. The notion that expectations are very often the cause of emotional suffering is older than recorded history however.

Think Acceptance

Other philosophies and faiths that came later, like Christianity, echoed this concept with their own versions of renunciation.

Nude meditation, nude workouts and nude yoga became expressions of shedding worldly things.

Naked movement teachers report their students enjoy, “greater self-love, body positivity, mindfulness, overall well-being, and so much more".

Those taking up the practice of nude movement can expect greater acceptance of their body and sensitivity to their environment along with the more practical advantage of a greater range of motion with fewer distractions from clothes that shift and restrict.

In some ways, nudity and nudism have always been present throughout the world but the thawing of the religious hold on social norms in the past 40 years in the west combined with the rise of social media and availability of the internet in general pushed it into the mainstream.

The easy access to pornography created by the internet has allowed more nuance in the way people think about different forms of nudity. People now make a distinction in their own minds between body positive nudism and erotica.

Naked yoga is for all, some just wanting to watch the human body perform extraordinary art and often beautiful contortions and for those exploring nude yoga as part of their own yoga practice to find an experience with me that can challenge them.
