I think the cracked window was necessary for both Tardises so that it's clear to the viewer that that big thing really is the same Tardis, rather than just a monument or one from a different timeline.

Yes I´m so glad to have the other Andrew :) as my mod. He is really important for the channel. I´m so thankful that he makes this journey so easy for me. Otherwise I would have been spoiled so many times already, and lost myself in the jungle of episodes :D :D
Thanks for the prequel scene. Maybe I´m gonna react to it :)
Thank you for pointing out the fact, that we have never seen the 1963 scene before. I didn´t really realize that, now I have to go back and rewatch it :) How did they do that though? Did they still have those old tapes and used it now, when it wasn´t even shown back then? That´s so cool :)
If I ever watch all the Classic episodes, I will pay close attention to the moments that could have been Clara moments, makes everything even more interesting :)
Thank you for reminding me of all those quotes that were said before. They are very interesting, knowing what I know now :)
I think Clara couldn´t have known. I guess that´s one of those things that do get explained only by "timey wimey wibbly wobbly", and do not have an explanation at all. :/

"How many times have you saved me, Clara? Just this once, just for the hell of it, let me save you.", The Doctor, "The Name of the Doctor"
First, thanks for your callout to your moderator - doing a great job!
It was nice to see some previous Classic Who and New Who companions in the "Clara and the TARDIS" minisode - always a thrill to see references to Classic Who.
In addition to the "Clara and the TARDIS" minisode, there was a prequel scene for this episode - although not a great or even a very interesting one.

Into the "The Name of the Doctor" episode, I like the introductory scene with the Gallifrey workshop showing video of the Doctor and Susan, his granddaughter, stealing a TARDIS. As you know, the 1963 TV series only picks up from when the two school-teachers meet the Doctor and Susan so we've never viewed this scene before.
It is a thrill again to see previous Doctors make an appearance. When another reactor watched the particular episode with the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker), I commented that it would have been fun to have seen Clara retconned in the background of that Classic show. They picked some great Classic episodes to insert Clara into.
BTW: we have yet another Sherlock Holmes reference - the Doctor mentions that he thought he might retire and become a beekeeper. That's what Sherlock Holmes did in the stories.
It's nice that the window pane on the TARDIS is cracked when they crash, and then that broken window is mirrored in the big TARDIS a bit later.
Oh, remember the episode "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship"? The Great Intelligence mentions Solomon the Trader as an example of the Doctor being "blood-soaked".
"They are unarmed.", "So are we!", "Do not divulge our military secrets!", Strax and Jenny, "The Name of the Doctor"
In "The Snowmen", I raised the issue of how Clara, the barmaid/governess, knew that "pond" would be a word that could trigger the Doctor. After viewing "The Snowmen" again this time with you, it occurred to me that the Clara, the Impossible Girl, would know about Amy Pond and so that is why the Impossible Girl as the barmaid/governess knows what to say. But your viewing of "Clara and the TARDIS" just now has made me re-think that - Clara doesn't know who Amy was at that point and wouldn't know about the word "pond".
It's nice that Clara's leaf comes back.
This story is a really nice solution to the Impossible Girl problem - how has Clara live multiple times - very clever. Well done, Steven.
"The little ... Daleks!", The Doctor after learning that the kids had tricked him, "The Name of the Doctor"

I do agree, that the appearance of John Hurt was a bombshell that dropped. And I did indeed forget to talk about things, that I wanted to talk about. I´ll make up for that in the next video :D John Hurt included. Cause like I said in my review, my brain wasn´t able anymore to pick up on everything that was said in this scene, so I thought I´d delay that, until I know what I´m talking about :D :D
The overall story of this episode was amazing. I´m still not over the fact that it was sooo good. I just edited it, and I didn´t even notice how the time flew by, when usually I´m quite annoyed that I do have to edit something and look at the time every 5 minutes. It didn´t happen even once with this episode :)
In hindsight I feel so stupid for not noticing that the doctor crying was meant to be that sad. I couldn´t tell wether he was sad or relived and that took away from my experience. Watching it the second time, it was much clearer to me. But unfortunately it isn´t in the reaction.
Oh yes, Claras "Run you clever boy" hit so hard. As if I had run into a wall with a running start. :D
The kiss between River and the doctor was unbelievably beautiful, and the joke about the doctor kissing an invisible person cracked me up. How can you change emotions for your viewers so quickly, in just one second. What a great writing of dialogue.
I understand what you mean, that Claras sacrifice would seem worth less to some people, cause then the doctor goes in as well. Me personally I never thought that. She did without knowing that he would do that as well. She sacrificed herself, and that is what´s important.

Wow really, Nightmare in silver was a good episode for me. Not the best but it had its moments. I can understand though, that you do place the series pretty low, cause I think for me it´s the weakest series right now. Out of all the 7 I´ve seen. But the finale episode is something different. Nothing in comparison to the rest of the series.
Oh no you kept your makeup... Yeah, if I learned one thing about Dr. Who, it´s never to wear eye makeup in a finale. Not a good idea :D

I agree with AMAZING :D
Well, the shot of the TARDIS was my Thumbnail for the Teaser over here on Patreon, for a reason. Cause it´s one of the best shots in Dr. Who history. Well, the history that I know at least :D :D So I guess I do agree with you :)
The sound is my best friend and my biggest fear at the same time haha. I love it in every single episode, but when it comes to Copyright issues on Youtube it is the worst. The soundtrack is usually the reason why my videos get taken down. if I include just one second to much of it. But I wouldn´t want to miss it, even at that cost :)
Awww thank you much for reassuring :) I always think that it is boring if I talk too long and too much. And sometimes too "all over the place" as well :D Nice to know that you do enjoy it nevertheless :)

I agree with you about the Whispermen. They are not really well used in the episode. Didn´t think about this yet, but know that you mention it, I think I do agree.
About the Great Intelligence: When he was giving his speech against the doctor,I felt all the hatred he had for him. But I couldn´t really explain it. Why would he hate the doctor that much? But I just thought that they do have a bigger history from the Classic episodes that I do not know yet. Cause just with those few episodes of New Who, I couldn´t really explain that kinda hatred against the doctor. It´s interesting that you are mentioning this as well.
You´re right all those Classic references that all of you pointed out to me (And I´m so thankful for that) make so much more sense now. :) Also thank you so much for listing all of those mentionings again, that´s very helpful :)
I do have a very complicated list about all the things I need to watch in those upcoming weeks, I´m pretty sure that you wont be disappointed :)
How dare you giving this episode just a 9.5? Unbelievable :D :D

This was really great episode :) I had so much fun watching it :)
And the appearances of Jenny, Vastra, Strax and River were just phenomenal. :)
Yeah the IMBD rating is a little underwhelming indeed.

I think I have only one criticism of this episode. And that is the fact that the bombshell they drop at the very end is so dramatic and so mysterious that it can make a person stop thinking about all the amazing things they have seen before it happened. John Hurt? THE John Hurt, star of so many films and TV programmes is (or isn't) the Doctor? After I watched this story for the first time with my sister and her husband and daughter, John Hurt's appearance was all we could talk about at first. Who is he? Where does he fit in? etc.
Fortunately the main story is so strong that eventually those final few moments faded slightly and it was possible to appreciate the rest of it properly. And it is quite amazing right from the beginning. One of the strongest openings of any Doctor Who story in my opinion, it leaves the viewer rather stunned even before anything else has happened. Plus, I love seeing all the old Doctors, especially the first one right at the beginning of his adventures and Tom Baker who was my favourite Doctor.
And then, hearing Jenny say "sorry, ma'am, I think I've been murdered" is heart-breaking. River's smile freezing on her face when Clara says "I never realised you were a woman" is priceless. Seeing Matt's Doctor actually crying is such a disturbing and unlikely image you just know that something terrible is happening. Seeing the TARDIS monument and the Doctor's timeline are equally spine-tingling. And Clara's "run you clever boy" makes me feel like someone has walked over my grave. And then, finally seeing River's kiss with the Doctor is so beautiful. I can't think of another show that could juggle the two relationships and make them both look equally important. And of course, the reaction of Vastra, Strax and Jennie to the Doctor kissing an invisible person is hilarious.
I have heard some people say that fact that Clara's dramatic sacrifice is slightly undermined by the fact that the Doctor damn well goes in after her and saves her but, to me, the bravery is still just as real and the ides of losing this character so soon would have been unbearable.
9.6 at least.

Never got around to watching the Nightmare in Silver reaction mainly as it's one of my least favorite stories ranking 133/140 and is one down form Journey to the center of the Tardis. Overall this series is my third least favorite with series two as my second least favorite.
However this final is great. a 5/5 and ranked 24/140. It was great to see 9wish River again and I love the Paternoster gang. And it's a very emotional story, (wish I'd followed you lead and took my make up off first) and then ending on that cliffhanger. Can't wait to see what comes up over the next few weeks.

This episode in my opinion is AMAZING. I absolutely love how they added on to Rivers story even after the Library and it was so emotional! And when Clara was going to run into the Doctors Time stream or whatever its called.
The cinematography in this episode is yet again, incredible. The shot of the giant TARDIS in Trenzalore will forever be one of my favourite shots.
I've said it once and i'll say it again, the SOUNDTRACK! The soundtrack is phenomenal, I LOVE the soundtrack, it embraces the scenes so unbelievably well.
All in all, I think I'd rate this episode a solid 9.5/10.
Also you asked if its boring when you ramble about how much you liked the episode, it isnt boring AT ALL. I love hearing what you have to say about the episode even if you didnt like it. Its really cool to hear other peoples opinions!
Very, very, VERY excited for the next reaction!

There are a couple of elements in this episode that I'm not blown away by:
1) The Whispermen. They're a great idea for Dr Who; and they're built up quite nicely at the beginning - but then barely used!
2) The Great Intelligence. Much as I love Richard E. Grant, his character is rather too melodramatic! "You've thwarted me at every turn, Doctor"
Really? All three or four times, you mean? :D
Other than that, this one is a hugely entertaining, dark and gothic (LOVE the Doctors Victorian-era costume!) rollercoaster.
This was broadcast in 2013, which was the 50th year of the show - so how appropriate (and wonderful) to have a flashback to the First Doctor immediately before he stole the Tardis. And then all the other Doctors (several times); and their voices; and even River Song, who is a character I have no great affinity with, shows up to the story's advantage.
Hopefully, looking back at series 7b from The Snowmen onward, the significance of all those Classic references (in every episode) which we pointed out in the comments, will be clearer to you:
The Great Intelligence. The mention of his granddaughter Susan. The Ice Warriors. The reference to Tegan in "Crimson". The voices of so many Doctors and companions emanating from the Console in "Journey". The glimpse of ALL the Doctors in Nightmare. (Even the notorious mispronunciation of an iconic object, in "Hide"). These were all little glimpses of the Doctors past - cleverly foreshadowing the myriad of glimpses we (and Clara) saw of the Doctors past in "Name of the Doctor".
...and it all builds to the out-of-left-field cliffhanger, featuring ANOTHER Doctor.
We are left reeling.
In retrospect, I have found that Series 7b is far more enjoyable when watched again. All these little details can be picked up on (and I'm sure there are more!), once you know where everything is headed.
I am hoping that your Moderator/Advisor has chosen well for you in the upcoming few weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a few things, at least (someone dressing for the occasion would be good e.g.)
As far as scoring goes - well, it's all subjective; but I would give it 9.5 Not for the plotting, but simply because it does so much!

This was such a great episode, I’m pleased you enjoyed it so much. I’m not surprised you need to watch it again, there is so much going on. I have always been a big fan of Vastra, Jenny and Strax, and we also get Riversong as a bonus. I was disappointed in the IMDB rating 9.0 is good but it was worth more. Very excited for the next episode.
