The filmmakers really leaned on the basic idea of none of it has to make sense because its mostly dreams. The Friday the 13th series always gets crap for its continuity. But most of Friday's problems are timeline based which I can overlook. The story what there was pretty much made sense. With the Paramount films (Part 1-8) at least. The Nightmare series continuing story became more of a mess as they went. Mainly with having to kill Freddy in a convincing way and then explain how he is back next movie.
