Been a while since the last one of these!!
Anyway, after going through the thumbs in the last post, here are some cute faces I liked from After You:

I tried to be SO LOYAL to these sketches in the final product, they came out SO GOOD TO ME. It’s always frustrating when that happens because inking can really make or break a sketch, or you might realise while you’re inking that the sketch actually doesn’t make that much sense! And your heart is broken

a panel that gave me hell

Man did I really want to get Lucy’s face right here. I don’t think I was fully able to nail what I imagined in my head, but I tried so hard. You can see I redrew her multiple times, even drew her on the side to see if I could just make a new, better face from scratch. MAN DID I TRY!!

Oh here’s an example of when a rough sketch looks really good, but as you’re refining it you think “Actually, this doesn’t look very good”

I refined the hell out of this and he just looked so limp to me! Not like the sway he had in the initial sketch, and I kept trying to get the pose right when I thought “you know, this isn’t working. What else can I do?”

I ended up going for a continued close-up of his face. I think it turned out better, though I do feel self-conscious about my talking head syndrome :( But I dunno, I just didn’t like the way the body angle looked, maybe I coulda fixed it if I took more time or started from scratch, but there you go!

I was definitely super ready to ink the body, like I’m pretty sure I even inked it before i scrapped it for the alternate face-shot. You can see I preserved his inked hand here.

I just love the floating bear heads, it’s funny to me

Anyway lets end on the page everyone got super excited about because of the angle. Initial sketches are always so hilariously goofy to me.
AND THAT’S IT THANKS FOR READING BOTH OF THESE POSTS!!
