Figure Drawing: Week 14

We’re back! With a male model, who was really cool!! He was lean and had awesome hair. The models so far have been pretty white, so it’s interesting when anything changes :-[

Here are the 1s. THAT TORSO. So good.

The 2s begin here after a final 1-minute sketch is drawn on the top-left! I love how his leaning pose turned out in the second drawing on the top-left.

I’ve been trying to consistently shade when doing the 5-minute sketches now. There’s not really enough time with the 1s and 2s, but a quick stroke has been helping with the 5s.

10s! Sitting poses are so great.

I really wanted to capture his face because I’m conscious about the idea of giving models the same generic face, and I know that’s a pitfall when drawing in an animu-influenced style :l; You pretty much cannot do any differentiation of noses and lips. SO YEAH. I really liked working with his arm.

When the first 20-minute sketch is done, there’s always a large break, so the doodle at the top was me just messing around.

It’s me trying to draw Amitie from the top of my head and completely forgetting how her shoes looked :-[

Back to the 2s! I’m trying to get more comfortable really taking over the page and having a few overlaps with the quick sketches. I didn’t like how much negative space there was in previous pages. (Also because I want to conserve paper like some kind of HIPPIE.)

It also helps that I’m really getting used to the rhythm of the Thursday sessions so I know exactly how many 1/2/5/10/20-minute drawings I’m meant to do. So I’m able to coordinate the paper better.
