Thumbnail Dump: Love Again

Not all thumbnails. They’re too hard to read! But here are some highlights from the thumbnails that came together to make Love Again, annotated by Veronica.

Here’s the transition into Lucy’s flashback. Originally, page 24 was going to have Lucy saying “You know why.. [page break] you saved my life.”

I thought it fit better for the flashback to begin when Lucy and Augustus confront Lucy’s parents, since Lucy’s parents DIDN’T know the details about Augustus saving Lucy and they had to find out at some point. So this does the dual duty of giving the audience information as well as the family!

I love that I directly reference Octopus Pie since it was inspiration for me realising “Hey, combining pages can be really effective when it comes to pages with barely anything in them!! I’m not gonna torture readers with two weeks of a black background and snow!! I can combine it and torture them less!”

With the “make it even for the book” comment, You can see I’m still mindful about ending chapters even-numbered unless I have a perfect intermission idea to fix it. It sucks when we have an odd-numbered chapter for the book and have to figure out how to extend at least one page to a full spread!
