I did think it was a good idea that Rachel wrote Ross a letter, but I always thought that the amount of pages she wrote was ridiculous especially given everything else that was going on. If I had been her I would have stuck to a summary of what I was feeling and then mentioned I wanted to talk about it further as an actual conversation outside of the letter so Ross could participate. Also I would have made it clear to Ross that I didn't expect him to blow through an 18 page letter at 5:30am after an emotional breakup. Ross should not have lied just to please her, but she could have communicated that there wasn't a bunch of pressure on him to finish it right away. She may have communicated in a letter, but BOTH of their face-to-face communication skills still need work. Both of them are still at fault in different ways and at different times.
