ONCE UPON A TIME S02E03 WATCH PARTY

Comments

There is a Mists of Avalon movie with Anjelica Huston and Julianna Margulies. I liked it. ☺️

Amy Winslow

Super behind. Trying to catch up on everything. Great episode! To remember the name of the town Storybrooke think "story book". That's where I think they got the name. 😁

Steph Stephens

Season 4 tells how he (Charming) learned how to fight. I hope you get that far, that's personally my favorite season.

Christina Gray

I couldnt read the whole comments (due to spoilers) but I like that you're both disagreeing with each other but it's done respectfully. Thank you for respecting each others opposite opinions.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I like that you called it a "two dimensional character" because I could see how I would think of her that way when in fact she has layers of emotions.

I understand your take but I disagree. In your point of view, pure love means already have your shit together and not let it interfere with how you behave towards your child. In my pov, I believe that love is pure if it's all consuming. You don't need to have all your shit together to love purely. Regina is changing for Henry. Of course she has set backs, she isn't perfect but that won't make her love for Henry any less pure. She isn't the perfect parent, but she does love Henry with all her heart. As for M/L I barely remember that storyline to be able to comment on that.

Okay, I'm going to counter one point you made with concerns to Regina's love for Henry and I want to be clear this is not a comment on the Adoptive vs biological parent argument...I don't get involved in those. But I'm also not sure I'll be able to get my point across clearly, so forgive any rambling, like this lol I agree that Regina's love for Henry is genuine, but maybe not pure. I think to start with she is too selfish for the purity moniker, she often puts her own feelings and what she needs from Henry before what he needs from her. There are flashes of her doing what he needs, I won't deny that, but it's not until later in season 2 that we see that purity shine through, that's when she starts to put him before her and then into season three and onwards it grows, is displayed more and the more she recognizes she can't be his everything the better their relationship gets. As far as parent/child relationships go in this show, there aren't many truly wholesome and healthy ones. I think the best display of a healthy parent/child relationship is sadly a throwaway moment in season four between M&L, I'm hoping you know which one I mean. SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT SEEN THE SHOW BEFORE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I don't know if it's because they didn't get a whole lot of screen time, Maleficent always seemed to be willing to do what it took to make sure Lily was safe and happy. She's willing to work with those she considers enemies, she begs for her child's life and cries when she thinks she's lost them. When she finds Lily again all she wants is to connect and it ends with her promising she can handle whatever darkness Lily has and to be there to help teach her to handle things herself

Kate Baro

When it comes to Aurora/the princess, people tend not to like her, but there isn't any reason for that, at least one I can see. She woke up to a vastly different world to the one she remembered, she lost the love of her life and discovered new threats all within a very short period of time. Yes she jumped to some conclusions, but she also apologises for her actions and moves on to try helping Snow and Emma. She's a better character than people give her credit for and a stronger person

Kate Baro

When it comes to Regina, she isn't "good" yet. Her treatment of Henry is pure and genuine and comes from a place of love but Regina isn't a two dimensional character. While she is trying to redeem herself for Henry (and Henry alone), her dislike for everyone else is still very much present and she will still face A LOT of difficulties to be redeemed and all she has access to is dark magic (and years of being the Evil Queen), which corrupts and tempts her soul to fall back on old habits. One moment, like this episode, you see that she is trying and succeeding at her redemption but to think it will stay that way for long... well, you'll have to watch. Her road to redemption is rocky and looooong and that's why I love her character arc so much. Easily the best and most compelling character in the show (Rumple is a close second even though he isn't my favorite). Also, "magic land" is called the Enchanted Forest and the town in the real world is "Storybrooke"😂
