Isn't it prophetic that Rachel was the highlight of the show and then the show overall had a tinge on it? It seems like that's exactly what happened with the real show on Broadway, after Lea Michele joined. They still criticized the production but people generally agreed she was the right Fanny Bryce. Am I Wrong?

I could not agree more about the Sue storyline. I genuinely did not care for it and it kinda pissed me off. I am also pissed that Who Are You Now? wasn't solely sung by Rachel. Their harmonies were great and Jane Lynch has a lovely voice but she's not on par with Lea. It also felt so out of place showing her with that guy and then cutting to a very emotional Rachel thinking about Finn. The only good thing from that was Rachel telling Sue off which was very satisfying. Also LOVE the look on Santana's face like "I taught her well". And Sam just slept through the whole thing!
I also like to point out something about how much Rachel has grown. When Will asks her how the show was she says it was amazing and then immediately asks him how he feels. It may not seem like a big deal but the old Rachel probably would've been all about herself. I just thought that was sweet.
Fun fact: Darren Criss' parents are sitting behind Blaine and Kurt in the audience. You can also see the empty seat for Finn in front row at the end of I'm The Greatest Star. And the actors were probably busy but I always thought it was weird that Rachel's dads weren't there.
Pumpin Blood, the song they sing at the club is by a Swedish band called NONONO. It wasn't a HUGE hit but it was in some movies and TV shows (I first heard it on The Vampire Diaries).

Lol me being a broadway fan & knowing reviews don't come out online until midnight/couple hours after opening night & also no red carpet event?! 😂

I honestly don't remember what you are talking about regarding Sue and foreshadowing. Can patrons send each other a message?

Thanks, desiderata770. I thought I missed something. I haven’t seen these episodes since they came out.

Yeah the Sue storyline does seem kind of random and while I don’t mind it, it could’ve been smaller. I didn’t need her singing with Rachel in WAYN. If the writers wanted to show that relationship, they could’ve just had Rachel singing solo over their dancing scene. No one really knows why it was horned in. My guess is because there wasn’t any Sue in the last few episodes and they wanted to make up for it? I really don’t know.
The part about the review being only about Rachel is probably a very mini plot hole, to focus on just Rachel because the episode is about her opening night. Also she does sound great in FG. I definitely like that ITGS version more than this one. She sounds great but her facial expressions and movements are kind of cringe to me. I actually prefer Kurt’s version from s3. If you want to see Lea’s whole FG show, go to the YouTube account bootlegqueen123; girl who falls in love and becomes an actor.
Also I love the little hint of Kurt and Blaine being a clubbing couple!😂 They definitely have grown since their Scandals days.

I didn’t know she bought a seat for Naya too.

Santana isn't her understudy anymore. She texted the director and quit during the graduation episode.

I love Sue but her storyline was unnecessary it should have been completely focused on Rachel's Opening Night, If Sue was going to be there she should have supported Rachel at least this once. Who Are You Now always gets me with the Finn flashbacks. And just like Rachel, Lea saved seats for Cory and Naya at her opening night!

Not sure if you’re 100% against reacting to bootlegs but being that the funny girl production has now closed and you wouldn’t risk costing them any customers I’m sure a lot of your glee watchers would love if you reviewed the full show! There is a really amazing quality bootleg on YouTube I can point you toward 🤷🏼♀️. I don’t want to link it here incase you aren’t cool with it but happy to share

I agree about the Sue storyline. It didn’t bother me at all and I also think Sue did a great job singing her duets. She’s a broadway gal and it shows. I actually didn’t like Rachel’s comments to Sue. They were a bit weird and if Rachel really had an issue with Sue, why not call her out when she first showed up. And why wasn’t Santana on standby as Rachel’s backup? I get this was a Rachel heavy episode, but quite honestly, it was a bit too Rachel heavy for me. Glee should have been able to allow the Funny Girl moments with more content. It made the episode a grind and just meh.

Ok: here’s my analysis of this episode, which is one of my favorites.
First off; yes, Rachel CRUSHED it in “Funny Girl”! Like absolutely crushed it! She also did amazing telling Sue off, and finally standing up for herself.
Secondly; I disagree with Audrey about the Sue Storyline not being necessary to the plot. As someone who has seen the entire series over and over again, and am watching it through fresh eyes, it’s one of those foreshadowing moments, that Audrey hasn’t got to, yet. She’ll probably look back at this moment and be like, “Oh, that’s why this happened.” (I hope).
Next; I agree with Kurt on the aspect that it isn’t fair that someone can have access to any artist and be able to write negative reviews about them. I hate to say it, but sometimes people can be really cruel, and just want to see the world burn. At least Kurt and gang had the right idea to counteract the bad reviews with good vibes.
Finally; that nightclub they went to: some of those guys were super hot! Sorry, not sorry! Lol!

Hey Audrey, just a heads up that the Vimeo URL isn't working. I don't know if it's just me, but when I click on it, it says "Sorry, we couldn't find that page."

this episode is definitely one of my favorites, it's mostly so so good🥹
the only thing I (and pretty sure every other gleek) hated was Sue's storyline, as you already mentioned. And ESPECIALLY her part in "Who Are You Now". I could've given it a pass if Sue's love interest would've been permanent but it was only a one night stand and I absolutely hate that she has still got a part in that song. I wanted it to be a Rachel solo, especially with the Finn flashback.
And yes, they could've cut Sue out of this episode and it would've made NO difference!! I'm so annoyed😂
But speaking of Who are you now - i so love that song. I remember bawling at the Finn flashback... and the empty seat... and Mr. Shue naming his son Daniel Finn. So many tears this episode😅
I also love that we got a few characters back, I was so happy seeing Tina and Santana again.. heck, I was happy seeing Karofsky and Jacob Ben Israel again at the beginning.😂
And the other songs were so great too. Pumpin Blood (?) was a pretty famous song when season 5 aired to this is why they included it. :)
