It's more a mashup of all Polynesian islands and cultures, which includes places like New Zealand, Hawai'i, Tahiti, Samoa, and Rapa Nui. You will see a lot of different cultures represented. The symbols in the song are more along the lines of patterns that were used for clothing and tattoos.

There's a scene where he hurts her feelings and she locks herself in her room, then he stands outside the door with a guitar and sings "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" to try and get her to come out. It was not very good, not nearly as good as this anyway, but in spite of his not-so-good singing, it was incredibly charming and sweet to watch. I think for this, he probably put in a lot of work with a vocal coach to get to where he's at. He just seems like the kind of person who would do everything he possibly could to make sure he was giving it his best.

Yes, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote this song and there is a version of him and Jordan Fisher singing this during the end credits of the movie. Such a fun song and the images and graphics and stuff are pulled from the Maori tradition of using tattoos to represent life achievements (among other things). This does have the same vibe of Surface Pressure, sung by Jessica Darrow in Encanto. I felt like the Rock did really well with the elements of the song and the changes in dynamics and style of the song, especially the rap part because Lin's raps are not easy to pull off. I'm so excited for this watch party! This is one of my favorite Disney movies.
