Late to the party here. Just watched this one. Rory's story at the fireplace is from A Charlie Brown Christmas. At the end, Linus reads the same story. Rachel's lines "All I want is what I have coming to me. All I want is my fair share." is quoting a line Sally says to Charlie Brown.

I too first heard Sarah McLauchlan's version ! 😊and I agree Lea's version was closer to it . Both Joni and Sarah are Canadian treasures . 🇨🇦

Rachel singing River and everyone loving her rendition by Joni Mitchell (original, I know), but I first heard this song being sung by Sarah McLachlan and thought Lea sang it closer to her version. So, just want to give props to Sarah's version too.

Yes! I knew that line sounded super familiar and it took me a minute to place it- definitely a direct Lucy quote from Charlie Brown Christmas Special. And I would recommend "the box scene" with Kurt & Blaine. I always watch it after finishing this episode because it was intended to be the last scene I believe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5HEYZhBbjY

That was the highlight of the episode to me, both the innovative song for Xmas and the performance. I really got bored with the rest of it.

Heather said Naya used to tweet about listening to the Glee version of ‘Christmas Wrapping’ around Christmas time every year, and seeing that tweet always made Heather’s day.

This is probably my second favorite glee Christmas episode. The black and white parts were a little much for me at first but after a few viewings I like it more now. Much more than an entire episode dedicated to emphasizing how dumb Brittany is like s2 Christmas ep.
Rachel is horrible this episode. There's no better way to say it. It does seem they ramped it up extra to fit the theme of the episode but it's not like that's a new technique for the writers... every time I watch this episode I want to yell at Rachel "hey you're Jewish!" And yes there are Jewish people who like to celebrate Christmas but she literally expressed last year how she didn't celebrate Christmas or give gifts and that her family just eats Chinese food on Christmas.
The Extraordinary Merry Christmas song that Rachel and Blaine sing is a glee original. Rory dressed up as an elf reciting the Bible verse is a direct replica of Linus in the Peanuts Christmas story. I'm not religious but the nostalgia gives me goosebumps. As folks mentioned, there were 2 scenes cut from this episode. 1 was Santa baby sung by Santana and the other was a scene called "the klaine box scene" if you want to find it on YouTube.
The rest of season 3 (with exception of like 2 episodes) is great and I can't wait to see your reactions. Oh someone else mentioned it but while your volume is fine through the eps, the musical parts seem to get louder and it's harder to hear you, but it was only like one or two comments you made I couldn't hear. I wouldn't stress too much if it takes too much work to fix. Either way, love your reactions.

If I'm remembering correctly, Rachel's line about "all I want is what's coming to me; all I want is my fair share" is directly from a Charlie Brown Christmas. So while she was a little intolerable in this episode we can at least chalk it up to the message the show was trying to send rather than her actual character.
Also there were a couple deleted scenes that I wish had made it into the actual episode. One is Santana singing Santa Baby while helping Finn pick out jewelry for Rachel, and I think there was a scene with Kurt and Blaine but I don't remember the details.

This episode was good and I love songs, for example that Let it snow by Klaine.
One thing that sometimes disturbe me is that I realised couple of episodes ago that your voice is quiet when the songs are playing. I cannot almost hear your speech over the songs.

I love how whenever Sue is being nice you don't believe her lol. and Roy was not the winner but that season there were 4 "winners" he was supposed to win I think 2 episodes but he got longer time I think the winner of the Glee projects come next episode or two, he is my favorite but they don't give him much of a story then they should.

I much as I agree with not condoning the insulting feel from a comment, let's lead by example with our comments in response. Tim is allowed his opinion about Rachel as much as I am. The different opinions are what makes this group vibrant and cool to chat as long as theyre said in a constructive way <3

Wow, how embarrassing of some Lea fans to be insulting every reviewer because they say the truth about Rachel who's a horrible, horrible character. But Tim, is always feuding and insulting them because how dare they criticize his favorite character Rachel?. Get it Tim! She's a horrible character that only gets worse. If only, Audrey has been very kind to her yet she's entitled to her own opinion not yours. Why people like Sue, or Santana much more than Rachel? Here's why:, they're funnier and you can't control what people like.

First of all, please watch the way you comment. Your comment feels very rude and not respectful. This type of attitude is not allowed in this group as it often then bleeds into rude comments to other members. You are always welcome to your own opinions about things, however they need to be said in a constructive way without insult.
Secondly, yes this season I really don't like her character. I think they made her be more self centered than previously. She's outwardly expressing very clearly that she's more important than anyone else which makes me not like her character very much lately. However, considering the past, this could change very quickly.
Lastly, what do you mean about "double standards"?
Please remember that this has nothing to do with Lea Michelle in real life. This is simply how I feel about a character on a tv show.

Why do you harp so much on Rachel all the time? Even in the end when she was being grateful you have something negative to say towards her… pretty obvious you don’t like her character. The double standards are real 😒

So on this rewatch, I totally now feel that sad parallel of Finn naming a star after himself and the reality of what happened in life. And he mentions the star exploding and becoming a supernova...that part had me tearing up.
I'm also upset that they cut out Santa Baby from this episode. I think it displays the growth of Santana and Finn's friendship as well as their characters, what a waste of that performance...I'm just glad that they released it on you tube later on so we still got to see it.
Naya loved Christmas so much and even threw a massive party every year for the whole cast and crew at her house called Snixxmas and the stories that have come from those parties are pretty legendary...so much so that to honor her every year, Kevin McHale (Artie), Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), Telly Kousakis (Production Assistant and close friends with the whole cast) started Snixxmas to benefit Alexandria House, a charity that Naya loved to support.
During one of the Snixxmas gatherings, Kevin told a funny story about this episode and how that scene in the homeless shelter was shot on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and they were all a wreck and getting frustrated because they couldn't get the scene right and wouldn't be released until they did and a lot of them were in danger of missing flights to join their families. Naya, being the hilarious person that she is, got them to laugh and relax during a break and they were able to go on and nail the song in the next take, which we now get to enjoy forever, with those looks of joy on their faces, which is why it's my favorite song of the episode.

To answer your question, yes Roy was one of the winners of The Glee Project. Everytime he sings I can't help but to look at his eyebrows lol. That was one of his critic on the show...he tends to move his eyebrows alot when he sings lol.

I usually like Christmas episodes, but I'm the odd man out on this one... never cared for it much. Except the last song. Always makes me cry. The whole old timey Christmas special thing is so cheesy. A lot of people like cheese, and I sometimes do too, but I kind of equate this episode to other shows having a musical episode. Those are always the ones a skip. And Rachel was especially horrific this episode. I agree that you shouldn't trust Sue, but for the most part, if she mentions her sister, she usually has good intentions. It's always nice to see Sue's softer side.
Yes, Damian, who plays Rory, won the Glee Project along with another guy you will meet in another few episode. They were guaranteed seven episode arcs. The runner ups were the girl who played the Gerber baby, who was in one of the first eps this season, and then again in the sectionals when she professed that she's only a sophomore (I think...correct me if I'm wrong) and already this good. The other runner up is Alex Newell... Mo from Zoey. You'll get him later this season too. They were guaranteed two episode arcs. Maybe one or all may get more episodes than that, but that was what they were guaranteed as their prize.

This is my favorite of the four Christmas episodes and quite possibly out of all the shows I watch. I love all of the songs, especially Heather’s solo Christmas Wrapping because it’s just adorable and Naya just singing her heart out in Do They Know it’s Christmas just makes me so happy.
I keep yelling at Rachel about her behavior and reminding her that she’s Jewish and has no business demanding Christmas presents to begin with but I am glad that she turned herself around. But oh man, the star, just rip my heart out and throw it in the blender why don’t you.

I'm not a very christmasy person but I think these episodes are so adorable. Expected glee dark random lines I thought worked this episode, very funny. And I will always love how happy Naya it looks in that last song. And the vocals! Agree with comments that Santa baby should have been in there too!

I'm not a Christmas themed episode lover. They tend to be cliché but I do enjoy this one for the most part. I laughed when you said next episode was the last of s3. We are not even half way through this season.
