GLEE S02E15 WATCH PARTY

I'm exited for Santana ti come out

Kathy Richwine

I felt the same way about the song choice for that Warbler's scene- didn't seem to fit, especially with all the build up to it in Blaine's dialogue just before. Turns out they had recorded a version of Do Ya Think I'm Sexy which was intended to be for this episode but was cut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVn6hVN4NyE

Jade Pinnock

Where is episode 14?

Jade Pinnock

sooooo much going on!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I am finally catching up with this channel and I just had to pause after the "Kiss" tango to laugh because omg...the band students were still in the background when he went in for the kiss and the subsequent talk. The drummer was just looking at the bass player and laughing. I love watching the background of this show while you're reacting to the foreground.

Cory James

Honestly same

Teri

The irony at the fact that the actor who plays Puck in Glee plead guilty to owning child pornography and in this episode he was warned by Holly Holiday about it. Sorry for the weird comment, it's just that every time I watch this episode it reminds me how weird this was.

Valorie Faye

welcome!!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

So glad I joined to watch this with you so much fun!

Damn, I forgot how great Naya was in this episode! She really gave it her all in this one emotionally. The thing I remember most about sex Ed in the 8th grade was a girl asking our teacher if you could get pregnant from oral sex, and the teacher said very frankly “no, the sperm would go through your digestive tract and you’d digest it.” Other than that the mechanics weren’t really discussed, it was mostly STD education. But my parents had already given me the talk because I asked. I grew up a conservative Christian so I applaud them for their honesty because apparently that’s not the case with everyone. I actually enjoyed the tango that Will and Holly performed, for once he did a number that didn’t strangely involve his students! I looove Landslide and Afternoon Delight is a low key bop. It came on my playlist the other day and it STILL cracks me up! This Warblers performance always makes me cringe, wasn’t a favorite of mine. Still can’t stand Finn and Quinn, I just can’t like them. It’s Finchel for me all day every day, though I’m glad Rachel is taking time for herself. I also have a soft spot for Jesse/Rachel, though that’s probably more for the Jon and Lea of it all lol. I think my favorite episode is next, though all the episodes after this are top notch. Well, except for one lol.

JustAlyssa87

I loved the Ani Difranco plug for sure!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

yea they sure had a lot of cheating as ways to bring other couples together. Not my favorite way to repeast again and again, but it does work

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Leanne! Can you see the videos? If not then message me and lets figure out why. This shouldn't be happening

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I didn't think it was bad. It just wasnt at the same level...or at least that's how I feel. I am sure glad with music the idea of "liking" a certain sound is so relative :)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

About Blaine going to Kurt's father...that was just so.... pushy, like NOBODY does that. XD Blaine is just a kid and he's behaving like if he was Mr Schuester. He could've given Kurt the same panflets Burt did because most likely he already had them around. Kurt would've been more than happy to have a conversation with his crush. The moment was so artificially fabricated. just for Burt to give him the sex speech that he could've given him without Blaine help, like it could've been done in Blame it on the alcohol.

Capri Zonica

I am seriously Brittany during this song! Just vibing away! It’s so smooth and makes my brain happy. 🤣

Considering this episode came out in 2011 I think it was pretty groundbreaking to have gay characters talking about sex and having the sex talk at all. I don't remember my sex ed (around the time this ep came out) covering non-het relationships beyond 'some people are gay/bi', definitely no acknowledgement that those people might actually want to sleep with each other, and that was in the UK at a fairly liberal school. I think places in the US are still super conservative and barely cover straight sex and relationships, let alone LGBT+ issues. Although I still find it super cringe that Blaine goes to talk to Burt about it, like who does that? Though I think his character was supposed to be older than Kurt here, before his age was retconned in S3.

Romy

I like this episode and oh how I love Burt Hummel <3 He is the best dad in this show. When he was talking with Kurt he was so loving and did everything that Kurt feels good. That scene is so emotional <3 Thanks to Blaine who talked to Burt that he must talk with Kurt about sex. I love their relationship. <3 I like Santana in this episode and when I watched this I realised why Santana was so mean before. Because she was in closet and afraid of what people thinks. Waiting for next ep!

Moona

I love Gwyneth’s voice on Landslide, but of course everyone’s taste/preference is different.

SuBin Kim

Tbh I prefer Finn and Quinn over Finn and Rachel… probably because Rachel is my least favorite character (I find her so annoying) but also I just love the chemistry between Cory and Dianna. And also the fact that I think Rachel brought out the bad in Finn. And not to anger any Brittana fans, but I honestly shipped Finn and Santana a lot. It’s probably because Naya and Cory were extremely close and were like family, so you could tell how close they were even if their characters didn’t get along at first. I also think the friendship between Finn and Santana should’ve gotten more air time. I also wish Finn had more interactions with other female characters like Tina and Mercedes~ (I remember how great Amber and Cory sounded together on To Sir With Love)

SuBin Kim

Yep, first thing I did. So I'm not sure why I can't see any of the videos now.

Leanne W

did you double check your membership? I'm sure you have, but always good to verify as a first instance.

AmosRambles

Can anyone help? I can no longer see any of the videos, they all just keep saying 'unable to play. Tap to reload' but nothing works. I can't even see videos I have before 😭

It should be available. https://www.patreon.com/posts/watch-party-glee-66175156?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copy_to_clipboard&utm_campaign=postshare

So! The "Kiss" tango actually does work! I took years of ballroom & latin dancing, and we put a lot of the styles to less traditional songs! This one works well. We had sex ed here in 5th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and 9th grade. It was very basic, just how the anatomy works and how condoms work. It wasn't ever talked about for same sex pairings, however. I came out when I was 15, and had to find all the info myself much like Blaine, because my parents and I never really talked about sex things like that, and school had done absolutely nothing. I got a lot of my info from Pride pamphlets. But anyway, this is one of the only episodes of Glee that makes me start bawling. I watched the show as it aired, and a 14 year old me saw Santana and Brittany together and I realized I was in love with my best friend. She loved me too, but her religious family was our problem, not a boyfriend, and eventually we had a falling out because of everything. This episode hits SO close to home for me, so the locker scene and Landslide just wreck me. Relationship wise, I wish they had rekindled Finn and Quinn better than this. No cheating, no secrecy. Dianna and Cory were so close, and they had really great chemistry, but between Ryan Murphy hating Dianna/Quinn, it was bound to be a hot mess.

Megan Christina

It really is. It makes me cringe because his character was a creep and then the real life actor turned out to be one too.

Mia

Season 2 was honestly when Glee peaked for me. I don’t care what anyone else says. This episode and so many of the others like Rumours and Blame It on the Alcohol are what really make this season. And there’s growth for a lot of characters that gets taken away in later seasons which is why I lost some of my zest for watching. But damn, Afternoon Delight gets me wheezing every time. It’s their face that really make it just so great. Tbh, my fav ship is a non-canon one that did get some vague acknowledgement later, and I felt it had so much potential, particularly when you get to Original Song and Born This Way.

Mia

I know it isn't the best technically or anything, but Afternoon Delight is one of my favorite Glee songs. Mainly because they have no idea what it means. Such good music this episode!!! Landslide is a favorite song of mine outside of Glee. Of course the girls are wonderful, and it makes me teary every time, but no one can touch Stevie.

Shannon Hartman

I love Burt! He is the best!!

Amber Harrison

Yes, this is the episode where we start to see the development of Santana and it starts to drive one of the best storylines of the show. This is also the episode where Stevie Nicks actually came to set when they were filming Landslide. She was a big fan of the show and also of Naya and Cory. And yes, "Do You Wanna Touch Me" is cringey and inappropriate, but I always get distracted from that fact by the Brittany and Santana of it all, lol. I also think that they basically made Holly into the anti-Emma, and that they paired her with Will so that he could have something to do other than pine away for Emma. I really like Dianna and Cory's chemistry and wish that they would have given Finn and Quinn a better second shot than this. Burt is still the best TV dad ever in my opinion.

Gemma Rivera

Can't wait till you release the Landslide review!

Amber Harrison

Absolutely agree!!

Amber Harrison

We didn't have any same sex education in my junior high or high school either. It would have been a great resource but I was left with a single chapter of the book I found called "Our Bodies, Ourselves" to learn about myself. Yikes! Anyway, the episode is amazing, and the start of new impactful storylines! Love me some Brittana! No surprises here- I am lifetime fan of Ani Difranco!!

Amber Harrison

Puck's storyline is 100 times worse in hindsight

Shani Gribben

Can anyone else not see episode 14?

Joseph

i listen to afternoon delight unironically just like i do with run joey run 😭 they sound good i can’t help it

This is one of my favorite episodes from the entire series of Glee. This episode starts the storyline of Santana and Brittany's relationship finally being addressed as well as the storyline arc of Santana struggling to come to terms with her sexuality. Prior to this episode we saw moments where it is briefly acknowledged that Santana and Brittany are "friends with benefits" while we've also seen a few flirtatious moments between them (some were more obvious some happened in the background of scenes) but their relationship wasn't truly being addressed before this episode. One of my favorite things about this episode is that we finally see Santana show some genuine emotion and this is when we start seeing some real character development happening with Santana. Up until now Santana has essentially been a character that is meant to be comedic relief who says "rude" and "witty" comments. Now we are going to see more moments within episodes where we see Santana be vulnerable with Brittany while she is also clearly scared/angry about the thought of being out (angry because she clearly wants to be with Brittany publicly but at the same time scared of what people will say especially because she saw how Kurt was the only out person in their school and saw how he had to deal with homophobia/bullying because of it). This Santana storyline ends up leading to Santana taking part in the performance of what is easily my favorite cover done on Glee which is the "Rumour Has It/Someone Like You" cover (which you already reacted to). Naya Rivera really shines as Santana in this episode and throughout the storyline of Santana coming to terms with her sexuality.
