The First Descendant - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2024-07-07 08:41:50 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox, Playstation or PC HDR Calibration app settings.
The game has an average HDR implementation as it doesn't provide any Peak HDR Luminance control with a fixed peak of around 1.000 nits with a rendition which can look really good in some scenes and very washed out (with severe black level raise) in other scenes so the provided in-game sliders cannot adjust the latter without ruining the first.

Leave both "Screen Brightness" and "Screen Contrast" sliders to their Default/Middle/5 value for the most balanced results.
If you have an LG G2 or a C4 OLED or a 1.000 nits TV, you can try HGIG
Otherwise Dynamic Tone Mapping is recommended for this game.
Enjoy ;)

2024-08-07 02:35:08 +0000 UTCIt's making the forest and later game areas so visually distracting as instead of a lush green, I get grey so much so that my poison green or fire looks washed out.

2024-07-24 10:14:28 +0000 UTCYeah and a fix is difficult to make in my opinion as there are very raised spots but also very good ones with perfect blacks as well. It just seems inconsistent between areas so an universal fix may not be that easy...

2024-07-24 09:33:01 +0000 UTCThe severe black level raise is so noticeable, it's just grey all over. The hdr is really bad and I hope gets fixed soon.

2024-07-21 20:51:58 +0000 UTCThank you very much friend, has anything changed about the hdr or is it still the same?

2024-07-21 18:43:56 +0000 UTCIt's Cinema when watching movies, FMM when gaming. ALLM will automatically switch between the two (on Xbox and PS5)

2024-07-21 18:37:57 +0000 UTCI'll look again, but what I didn't understand in the graph and which image mode I should use, there appears cinema

2024-07-21 18:31:36 +0000 UTCThe chart you can find the link is more up to date

2024-07-21 18:28:18 +0000 UTCI'm currently on dtm + fmm, and the same calibration you used in the video, is that correct?
shisui uchiha
2024-07-21 18:26:10 +0000 UTCYes if you are in FMM + DTM. You can read more here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/63754947

2024-07-21 18:18:52 +0000 UTCCould you send the photos to me privately so I can understand better?
shisui uchiha
2024-07-21 18:18:18 +0000 UTCI didn't understand that, new dtm? Am I using the correct dtm?
shisui uchiha
2024-07-21 18:16:06 +0000 UTCYes, it's ALLM + FMM + (the new DTM) or forced HGIG in FMM via ColorControl
P40L0
2024-07-21 18:09:56 +0000 UTCIs it no longer cinema mode or fmm mode?
shisui uchiha
2024-07-21 18:04:38 +0000 UTCPerformance Mode in the game. For the TV see the sticky post for under 2023+ LG OLEDs settings.

2024-07-21 15:42:06 +0000 UTCI already use DTM, and which image mode should I use?
shisui uchiha
2024-07-21 13:59:07 +0000 UTCIt's the same but try DTM.

2024-07-21 07:51:51 +0000 UTCHello p4olo, could you give me the best calibration for b3 oled?
shisui uchiha
2024-07-21 03:38:48 +0000 UTCI would use Performance Mode + Frame Gen: On. Balanced is actually really "unbalanced" and unstable 40 often resulting in a stuttering experience. I game on PC so I leave Sharpness at default and just use 4K DLSS Quality but on consoles you can try increasing it a bit (without exaggerating) to your liking if on Performance Mode it's too blurry for you

2024-07-13 21:15:21 +0000 UTCWhat sharpness setting in game do you recommend? I'm playing balanced mode with ray tracing on an LG C3,
