Dead Space (Remake) - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2023-01-27 18:09:43 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.
The game has a fairly good HDR implementation with a measured Peak HDR Luminance of around 7.000 nits.
Unfortunately, there is no way to adjust it in-game.
For this reason, it is suggested to use Dynamic Tone Mapping in order to avoid clipped highlights or an overall dim picture.

After latest patch:
The in-game "Brightness" setting only adjusts the overall gamma and should be slightly reduced from Default 50 to "49" for preserving true black on OLEDs while in HDR.
BONUS:
- Use Performance mode on current-gen consoles for best results (60fps target);
- Disable Film Grain: to improve both clarity and contrast of the picture.

Default is best.

2023-07-06 12:42:54 +0000 UTCYeah, unfortunately without DTM on C7 Game preset, fixed high peak HDR as Dead Space (7.000 nits!) will always roll-off early on the EOTF curve, resulting in a dimmer presentation even with Dynamic Contrast: Medium, so it's always recommended to play in a totally dark room to compensate. Still, I don't recommend going to DC: High as it literally destroy both color e black/white accuracy.

2023-02-23 11:41:27 +0000 UTCOk thx. I find the game quite dark on my C7. I find that the dynamic contrast option doesn't really like dark environments like this. It slightly compresses the lower end so shadows become ink black. But it is unfortunately necessary for highlights to appear bright enough

2023-02-22 21:24:57 +0000 UTCDoes this lower the peak brightness considering it function as a gamma setting?

2023-02-22 21:21:51 +0000 UTCYes, blacks remain inky but mids tend to be a bit too high and image a bit too soft with default Brightness 50, while I'm seeing a slightly better contrast with it at 49. It's very subtle anyway, and if you prefer Brightness 50 it's also super ok.

2023-02-12 15:30:26 +0000 UTCI am unable to reproduce any raised blacks at 50 in-game brightness with the latest update. The setting also does not seem to raise the black level at all. It only seems to raise the picture level up and down. All shadows remain inky black even in a darkened out room.
