Overwatch 2 - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2022-10-06 09:04:20 +0000 UTC
UPDATE:
The game now DOES USE/APPLY Xbox & Playstation HDR Calibration app settings , but only if you allow it through a new in-game option, otherwise you can still switch to the in-game HDR settings.
The game has a fairly good HDR implementation with an actual Peak HDR Luminance slider but not in numerical values (which can go up to around 3.000 nits), along with a Black Point slider and other regular Brightness/Contrast controls.
Click "OPEN CALIBRATION" under the HDR CALIBRATION section to modify the HDR sliders.

If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set HDR CALIBRATION Brightness slider to: Max (which is around 3.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR CALIBRATION Brightness slider to: +45 Clicks (from leftmost, 0; which is around 800 nits) or 56 (for G2) or 84 (for G3).
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Set HDR CALIBRATION Brightness slider to: +56 Clicks (from leftmost, 0; which is around 1.000 nits).
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR CALIBRATION Brightness slider to one of those values and the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits":

In all cases, set the HDR Black Point sliders to 0 (leftmost)

Leave "GAMMA CORRECTION" , "CONTRAST" and "BRIGHTNESS" sliders to their Default values as they already represent a balanced exposure/gamma.
Comments
Try lowering the peak to 1.000 nits or if it's not enough try HGIG

2024-12-28 08:33:52 +0000 UTCJust chiming in that I’m having the same problem on PC and LG C1. DTM settings look way too bright/washed out. Not seeing this with other games I’ve used your settings on.

2024-12-28 04:52:08 +0000 UTCAww okay, thank you! I mainly play this game on PC and only play it on PS5 here and there, so swapping it to HGiG won’t be a huge deal. If only I could play it in SDR but even that is bugged. I have to turn HDR off in the system settings smh. Thanks again!

2023-08-25 17:24:36 +0000 UTCUnfortunately this game has a mixed HDR implementation so, yeah, if only for this game you're experiencing super exposed HDR with properly setup DTM you can try to compensate with in-game settings or just stick with HGIG just for this game. Only remember to change back to DTM for all the others (if everything was already setup for it).

2023-08-25 15:41:05 +0000 UTCHello! So I have two issues with this game on PS5. First I should say I have an LG C1 and your HGiG settings are perfect . -When I use dynamic tone mapping and I input your settings, it is far too bright. This is unusual since DTM is perfect for the rest of my games when I use your settings. What could be happening here? -When I use the “System Calibration” setting, the picture is completely overexposed and unusable. Again, for other games using the system calibrations with your recommendation settings, it is perfectly fine. Should I just stick with HGiG for this game? It saddens me because I prefer just using DTM for everything.
