Ghostwire: Tokyo - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2022-04-21 07:36:03 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.
The game has a fairly good HDR implementation offering proper Peak HDR Luminance control, but just with 2 fixed options (1.000 nits or 2.000 nits).
For this reason it is suggested to use Dynamic Tone Mapping in order to offset potential highlights clipping and lost detail in bright areas.
There's also an UI luminance slider you can adjust to your likings. The default value at 50 can be very bright.

If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 2.000 (nits; Max);
- Set UI Luminance Level to: 0.
> you're using HGIG:
- Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 1.000 (nits) or 2.000 (for G3);
- Set UI Luminance Level to: 0.
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 1.000 (nits);
- Set UI Luminance Level to: 0.
> you're using HGIG:
- Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 1.000 (nits); or 2.000 (nits) based on how close it matches your TV's actual Peak HDR Luminance;
- Set UI Luminance Level to: 0.
BONUS:
- Use the regular "Performance Mode" without VRR (turn it Off from the console video settings): as this will provide a good reconstructed 4K resolution starting from 1440p with a fixed 60fps target with minor stutters. With VRR: On and/or with all other graphics' modes you will have much worse stuttering making the game almost unplayable at times;
- Disable Film Grain: to improve both clarity and contrast of the picture;
- Disable Chromatic Aberration: to improve image clarity, especially in Performance Mode.
Comments
It's just a bad optimized game (even if a good game), especially on Xbox. Also Halo Infinite is great now, but still has the same VRR issue when the game is set to 60fps target and Xbox to 120hz. Both not patched yet, which is a shame.

2023-05-20 13:17:23 +0000 UTCSo strange, I thought I was taking crazy pills with this game cuz this has been an issue since launch. Hope there's a way to let the devs know somehow

2023-05-20 13:14:30 +0000 UTCI know, it's crazy and should be the opposite. But it's probably a bug. Same thing is happening with Halo Infinite right now which runs better with VRR Off...

2023-05-20 13:12:05 +0000 UTCOmg your recommendation to turn vrr off in the system settings has made this sonkuch more less stuttery! Why on earth would vrr cause this? Especially when it's fine in other games, makes no sense to my tiny brain
