Game of Thrones S4 Finale Full Episode Reaction (watch with me)

Roose Bolton wanted Moat Cailin because the largest part of the north is separated from the other kingdoms by some very impassable terrain. The only way to get an army into the north by land is by a road that is protected by Moat Caillin tower/castle. Rooes Boltons army was still south of that from when he was fighting for Rob Stark. After he was named Warden of the north he wanted to return to the North to secure it and make sure there are no rebellions, but he was blocked by the Ironborn holding Moat Caillin. He told Ramsey he had to smuggle himself into his own lands (presumably by boat) because of that. If Ramsey can "take the Moat for the family (Bolton)" than he can bring his army back North. For this reason it is a strategically very important location. If someone wanted to attack the North they would have to conquer Moat Caillin first as well or go around it by ship, but you would need a very large fleet for that.

I forgot which episode it was, in an earlier season, maybe Blackwater, Varys said that he hates the King's Landing bells. "I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege." He was walking away from the ship that he put Tyrion on - and then the bells started. So, he NOPE'd the hell out, lol.

I always find it funny in The Hounds death scene in the books, he calls Mycah, Michael. I don’t know if he genuinely forgot his name or he’s just trying to make her angrier. Also in the show The Hound doesn’t mean the lines he says about Sansa but I think it’s really sad when he says at least I’d have one happy memory. He’s had a tough life and I think he deserves something good before he want for his protection of Arya and Sansa

I love The Hound and I love/hate watching this episode every time. I never forgave Brienne for this because the fight was so necessary. The Hound had every right to be suspicious of her and she did a terrible job of explaining herself. The Hound has done a better job at her vows then she has. He’s actively helped the Stark girls where Brienne struggles to find one. It’s interesting the parallel Brienne asks Arya to leave with her while The Hound did a similar thing with Sansa. The difference is the Hound listens to Sansas decision and accepted it whereas Brienne didn’t. Arya made it clear she didn’t want to go with her but Brienne had to pick a fight. She has every right to be suspicious of The Hound but I think when she saw Arya was reluctant to come with her she should have enquired further. Brienne is the first to draw her sword so she would have had a little time to convince the Hound. Another thing is Brienne is badass but she’s not on the same fighting level as The Hound. If you remember the Hound has an infected bite which was highlighted two episodes. He was given this bite by writers to weaken him so when he came to a one on one fight with Brienne it could be believeable to watchers and especially book readers the she has a chance beating The Hound. To be fair to the Hound he did treat Brienne as an equal, he fought he like he would any man and didn’t underestimate her. Arya really becomes cold blooded in this episode, leaving the Hound to suffer and not kill him straight away was extremely cruel and even after what he’s done not right. I think the hound attempt to anger her backfired and by bringing up his past deeds and regrets he reaffirms for her why he’s on her list. This made her remember and then seeing him want to end it now she didn’t want to give him what he wants just like The Hound didn’t give Mycah mercy.

Tywin. A man so powerful they had to kill on the toilet. 🤣

In the season 3 finale, Davos shows Stannis the letter about the White Walkers that Maester Aemon sent out to all of Westeros. Melisandra put the letter in the fire and looked into the flames and said “This War of Five Kings means nothing. The true war lies to the north, my king.” That’s when they decided to go north but they needed more ships and funding first so that’s why they went to the Iron Bank of Braavos.
