I think that phones killed the low-end point-and-shoot cameras but also developed more interest in good photography for those who came to realize the limitations of a phone. Regardless, I love mine!

I thought it was interesting when phones started getting really good lens and resolution that people speculated regular cameras would be phased out (or become pro-only items). Granted, phones definitely ate into the camera market, but I think it also resulted in people realizing how powerful and refined regular cameras are.
