Greetings friends, lovers of stories, and cookie aficionados, and welcome to another THK Thursday with eni, Stoker and Maxi now that v1.6 has been released at last!
This week is for all the lore divers out there — we're talking about the encyclopaedia! Holder of lore, mythology, character information, and all sorts of background information about the world that you're going to love immersing yourself in!
Also... extremely clunky, in the past. To the point Maxi never took screenshots we could use for comparison because of how embarrassed they were of it.
But that is no longer the case! WELCOME, TO THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA V1.6!

The encyclopaedia has always been the apple of Maxi's eyes since the very first version of The Hayseed Knight was released, even though it was always one of, if not THE most voluble element in the game — both in terms of graphical evolution and ability to absolutely crash the game and render save games obsolete.
That's why one of Maxi's main objectives for v1.6 was improving its general functionality and backwards compatibility, reassorting all sort of inner workings in the encyclopaedia. Not only that, but the GUI for the encyclopaedia hub was rewritten from the ground up to make it far more aesthetically pleasing as well!
Other than that, v1.6 also brings quite a few more character entries, filling in a few gaps that had been left by all the new characters that became part of the story throughout the newer chapters. Did you want to know more about Djao, Teylid or Elbar just to name a few?
Now you can!

And to put the cherry on top, there's new character art as well! With new functionality to match — You can now click on entries now for a full view of the character art!

((In the future, Maxi plans to add multiple unlockable images for each character. No promises, though! We'll see how doable this is!))
Development for the encyclopaedia won't end here, of course. There's in fact quite a lot to be rewritten as far as Maxi is concerned!
Future updates will make the encyclopaedia more diegetic, streamlining and distributing the way information is added to it throughout the story a little more, so that Lore and Locations are unlocked progressively just like the Characters are.
Even though reading the entries is not necessary to understanding or completing the story, the encyclopaedia and all the information it holds means a lot to Maxi.
That's why they'll never stop working on making it more accessible, more noticeable, easier to navigate, and more enjoyable overall!
What do you think? Do you want more lore yet? eni does, at least! Hope you are enjoying to these new entries!
Take care, and stay safe out there!
