TryPod: Episode 11: The Try Guys Nerd Out
Added 2019-02-16 01:00:58 +0000 UTCToday on the podcast we dive deep into science fiction, fantasy, and somehow our microphones keep falling off their mic stands. Keith has special Valentines day plans, and Ned wrote a spec script for the Big Bang Theory. All that and more on this weeks TRYPOD.

I know this was posted a ways back, but I am playing catch up on old content. Personally, I love the nerdy content the most and would love to see a zach/ eugene review show or anything where the guys continue to discuss nerdy things. We definitely need a Jurassic park episode of some kind.

2019-07-25 21:34:22 +0000 UTCCan you make sure that your trypod tag is consistent? Apparently Patreon cares about capitalization so it took me some time to track down this episode of the TryPod (catching up!) because the tag was under "TryPod" instead of "trypod" like the other ones. It also looks like there is an episode out there with the tag "Trypod" and it's all on its lonesome :( Love listening to this podcast though!

2019-02-22 18:25:04 +0000 UTCI don't know where you got the idea that Are You Afraid of the Dark was half American. Nope all Canada man. ππ¨π¦

2019-02-22 17:12:00 +0000 UTCAs one who has done multiple marathons of the extended edition LOTR, my advice is to take food and bathroom breaks between discs. No matter how badly you want to put in the next one, take a break! Otherwise you'll burn out. Also, it makes for a fabulous day! And I absolutely LOVED how nerdy this podcast was! It made me so happy π

2019-02-19 17:19:17 +0000 UTCYES NED! Firefly is great. I am definitely a Sci-fi person, but I do enjoy Fantasy as well. I loved the nerdy talk.

2019-02-18 21:24:15 +0000 UTCI really hope you weren't joking about reading the Big Bang Theory script next time. I have my heart set on it now.

2019-02-18 21:10:22 +0000 UTCSo this episode was AMAZING for your same-age audience, youβre talking about all of the BEST shows and movies growing up. Sci-fi and fantasy are both my fave, but Iβd lean Zach/Eugene toward Team Sci Fi. (Um if you rewatch all of the extended LoTR, live stream that so I can join. π€£ Eugene, Iβm down for the Terminators and all of Buffy, too. Zach, definitely toss in Battlestar Galactica.) Lastly, Keith, youβre right about Billy being the best Power Ranger. ππ»

2019-02-18 20:40:50 +0000 UTCI agree with Keith that Iβm looking forward to Will Smith as the genie. So happy to see you guys need out!!! Its so fun and I love it!!! You guys should do another makeover video with Ariel for your shed.

2019-02-18 15:42:38 +0000 UTCThis was my favorite pod so far I think!! Loved all the nerdiness and nostalgia talk!! I liked the flow!

2019-02-18 12:55:32 +0000 UTCDon't worry about Princess Leia being a Disney princess, Zach. She does not meet the official requirements outlined by the Disney company and will never manage to have an official coronation (Specifically she fails the qualification of having been the lead female character in an original Animated Disney movie that is not a sequel)... My God, I have watched Super Carlin Brothers too much if the requirements to be considered an official Disney Princess are drilled into my brain.
Rebecca Rominger
2019-02-18 04:28:43 +0000 UTCMore nerdiness please! Movie review show would also be great π

2019-02-18 02:14:09 +0000 UTCKeith rips apart questions JUST like my husband! I couldn't stop laughing because my husband would have argued about this exact same topic with our friends lol AND OMG FIREFLY, BUFFY, AND ANGEL!!! YASSSSS I am ALL FOR NERDING OUT

2019-02-17 21:36:07 +0000 UTC1000% here for more nerdy content, including but not limited to a movie review show.

2019-02-17 20:18:24 +0000 UTCI totally love nerding out with you! Even though I am way older than you guys and I didn't know what you were talking about. Love being here.

2019-02-17 20:04:36 +0000 UTCLoved this nerdy episode you guys! Just a heads up tho I noticed that only this ep and the 3rd ep are actually tagged Trypod. I'm sure I'm not the only fan on patreon who'd love to be able to find all the other Trypod episodes without digging through every post on the main feed. (^u^ ) But get your tag game on and it's an easy fix!

2019-02-17 16:42:58 +0000 UTCI must not be needy enough, I lost track of where we were for a solid 6 minutes. Sorry Fam

2019-02-17 12:16:05 +0000 UTCI'm here _because_ y'all are nerdy and I've been bemoaning the basic-ification of the channel, part of why my Patreon ends this month. (I get summaries of the podcast from my roommate)
Myrriadne
2019-02-17 04:55:34 +0000 UTCWe NEED a movie review show!!!! Just please film the podcast or give transcripts so that hard of hearing folks can at least attempt reading lips?

2019-02-17 04:15:55 +0000 UTCLucky! My Mom REFUSED to let me see Titanic because of the sex scene and the nudity. And everyone else saw it! I still give her a hard time about it!

2019-02-16 22:46:14 +0000 UTCI was OBSESSED with the power rangers for about 3 years. My poor parents. I wanted to be the yellow power ranger because she didn't have a skirt and I was a tomboy. Did/do any of you watch Dr. Who? How is a 'spec script' different than a good 'old fan fic? 'Cause that sounded like a fic to my old fandom ears.

2019-02-16 22:43:24 +0000 UTCare you afraid of the dark was the best

2019-02-16 22:04:02 +0000 UTCOmg also with the LOTR talk- no mention of the new Amazon show??? I really have high hopes.
Chelsea
2019-02-16 19:06:29 +0000 UTCAlso, you guys should totally survey the Patreon on what other you tubers we watch. I think you have an ultra diverse base of fans (esp age wise), and that data would be interesting to collect and could help.
Chelsea
2019-02-16 19:03:08 +0000 UTCOmg we are in a sci-fi/fantasy renaissance right now that will be defined by the crowning jewel that is the release of Dune, which is the best sci fi book ever written and Star Wars would not exist without it. Also, Ned is right about Clone Wars, like the original Clone Wars cartoon is better than half of the SW movies. Please give me the Zach and Eugene movie reviews, especially if it'll be horror related.
Chelsea
2019-02-16 19:00:04 +0000 UTCI would love to listen/watch a show where Eugene and Zach reviewed movies! This was a great podcast, loved all the nerding out.

2019-02-16 05:30:08 +0000 UTCI'm a little surprised that they discussed ooze, then segued into movies, and nostalgic movies at that, without discussing the teenage mutant ninja turtles. That was my first thought anyway. But this was a great podcast! I'm an '87 baby myself so this made my night! I always wanted to be the yellow power ranger, so im kinda shocked to find it was actually a man in the suit. Very interesting!

2019-02-16 04:39:09 +0000 UTCThis was my favorite episode. I'm all for you nerding out. Definitely go marathon the extended editions of LOTR - I've done that many times and it's always a day well-spent. So many great references in this episode and thanks!!

2019-02-16 03:57:18 +0000 UTCI loved this nerdy ass episode! And omg yes, a movie review show with zach and eugene would be amazing! This trypod is getting me amped for the video that I know is coming (I hope), of the Try Guys try D&D. is there like a twitch channel where we can see you guys watch all the star wars films or like the extended version of lord of the rings. I did this recently, btw, and it was amazing. I highly recommend everyone do it soon.

2019-02-16 03:51:53 +0000 UTCI loved hearing more of the nerdy side!

2019-02-16 03:43:52 +0000 UTCThis was the greatest almost hour of my entire life. As a Canadian, I am EXTREMELY proud of Are You Afraid of the Dark? And your fave Goosebumps episodes are also MY FAVES! Jurassic Park was my first PG-13 film and in a hilarious turn of events my Mom actually took me to see it in theaters because she knew I liked dinosaurs but otherwise had NO IDEA what it was about. At ten years old I was SO PUMPED and was so excited to see buddy get bitten in half by a T-Rex but at exactly that moment my Mom seemed to realize what a terrible mistake she had made and covered my eyes. I had to convince her not to walk out of the theater but she didn't take me to another move until I was much, much older. π€£π€£π€£ Every time I can't imagine you guys getting better you pull it off. I've never wanted to hang out with a group of stranger dudes more than I do right at this moment. And Ned is right. Firefly is amazing and OF COURSE Eugene is a Whedonverse nerd, because he's amazing. I just...I'm so happy right now. Thank you. π€£

2019-02-16 03:00:47 +0000 UTCI was the same as Ned, I was rarely allowed to see PG-13 until I was 13! I did see Titanic in the theaters though when I was 9 because HELLO LEO DICAPRIO I HAD A MIGHTY NEED. That movie was probably my sexual awakening. And a friend of mine and I snuck in to see Panic Room, my first rated R movie, when we were 14. Our parents caught us when we couldn't tell them what the movie we said we were gonna see was about (amateurs). I'm really surprised you horror movie nerds, when talking about 90s nostalgia, didn't mention the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie!! GUILLERMO FUCKING DEL TORO is directing! I'm super stoked. Also, the new Aladdin movie seriously looks like hot garbage. Everyone is complaining about Will Smith, but did you see Jafar?! Probably not because he really does not make an impression. At all. One of the greatest villains of all time and he just fell so FLAT. I am not a fan of the Paul brothers. I only learned about Logan Paul because of the Suicide Forest controversy, and I don't know anything about Jake Paul except that he has a face that I really just want to punch. I liked this geekery. Eugene came to life with this one. More geekery, please.
