One thing that always bugged me about this episode is that Angel is from the timeline before Wes tells him the gun will kill Ilyria. Yet, when Wes says that it wont kill her to her right before she is about to break apart Angel says, "But you said..." and Wes tells him that he lied. Like, what? That Angel didn't have that conversation. We saw him miss it. It's frustrating to me.
I do love this episode however. It's a really great one. You're right Amy is doing a fantastic job. It's great to see her do such a different role. I love seeing Wes be more himself, more chaotic in research and purpose. It's like the gang is regaining the mission while Angel seems to be totally losing it. Your reaction to Angel doing his job at the end is brilliant, because, DUDE! What the heck are you doing?!

In order for Illyria to join the team the show needed to nerf her a little bit and this was a fun way to do it. Seeing he kill all of the team even though you knew it wouldn’t stick was still kind of jarring to see happen.
