Having watched the episode now, the kanji mentioned in my previous post is the first kanji in the name Enzo. Maybe in this case, the fire comes from the feeling of burning up, maybe from fever? Also, shades of Monsters Within Me, right?

First, I immediately got distracted by the Kanji they focused on in the opening scene, 炎 ["honou": flame, blaze; flames (of intense emotion, e.g. love, jealousy, anger), passion]. It happens to be 2 fires 火 ["hi": fire, flame, blaze; "ka": Tuesday; fire (second of the five elements)] stacked on top of each other. The interesting part is that the kanji 炎 can also be pronounced "-en", and is used as the suffix that translates as -itis, inflammation.
