As usual, you take my theories and vagueness and fill it in with facts. Thanks for that.

You bring up a lot of good points and questions. We know at this point Hinata is an Incomplete Saint, so her soul is that of a Spiritual Being but her body has yet to adapt. So perhaps you are right in that her body was dead in the anime but her soul survived and stuck around and maybe that is what Luminus meant by her getting there before Hinata died. Also if Hinata did truly die, Rimuru was right there and absolutely could have held onto her soul within Beelzebuth. So if he and Luminus worked together, with Luminus healing the body and Rimuru putting the soul back in, it surely would have brought her back from true death. (We essentially see them do this later on as well lol) Hinata's body automatically breaking down magicules is the reason in the LN that she was incompatible with Rimuru's body as a substitute heart. He says he is 'not doing a good job' like he did with Mjurran but I still believe he would have been able to barely keep her body alive. But her physical body was probably dead in the anime. And yeah as you mentioned, there are a lot of different types of death and resurrection in the Tensura verse it is hard to know exactly how death would apply to a certain individual. Spiritual Lifeforms are the ones who can have their soul live on without their body, many races and individuals fall into that category. But I think everyone in the verse would be able to be resurrected so long as their soul is intact and they have a healed enough body. Weaker beings, like the citizens of Tempest after the Falmuth attack, would obviously need someone else's help to be resurrected but some species and individuals can do it all on their own. Though it may look different based on the circumstance. Like a True Dragon's resurrection is different than Ramiris or a Primordial for example.

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to make sure I had my facts straight. In the light novel, in that scene, all that is said is that it was a divine miracle using spiritual particles. Rimuru had been trying to use an artificial heart he created to keep her alive. Although the Seven Days say at one point that Hinata is dead, that clearly was not the case in the anime. In the anime, Luminus first says that once the soul leaves the body of the deceased, there's no hope. Then she says she got there before Hinata died. So maybe her body was dead, but her soul was still in her body, so it appears there's another death beyond the pure physical death. This brings up a couple of concepts that they haven't fully explained in the LN. Who exactly can have their soul live on after death? Is everyone capable of being reincarnated? We already know some of the different conditions that can affect spiritual beings. True dragons, demons, Ramiris, Clayman, etc. Is it the death of the spiritual body that corresponds with the soul leaving the body? We don't know what death really means, for different classes of beings. There does also seem to be a conflict about what demons can actually do.

Ah, ok. I think I understand your reasons. The only lingering doubt is that a "very" careful consideration of what is in the anime "might" have you thinking. But that no one appears to have done that consideration, is evidence, I suppose, that I shouldn't direct anyone's attention to what is there.

myst0dreamer

For a different example, a couple episodes ago when they skipped Veldora's explanation of dragons vs True Dragons, their origins, and his family member, that is unfortunately a piece of LORE that they chose to skip. Not knowing the info probably won't have a major impact on the plot going forward, but it is cool info that makes it feel like a more complete world. I could very much see them not including this info ever in the anime and that is really disappointing. Info like that I think would probably be okay to tell anime only viewers.

Daniel Meissner

I agree with you, as a LN reader it always feels weird when they omit something you think is important or a cool piece of worldbuilding. They have done it a few times this season, and I have been pretty vocal about my displeasure at times, but the question you are asking is about info that is crucial to the plot in the future. It is something that will have to be addressed eventually. It may be better for them to include it now like it was in the LN, but it appears that is not the choice that they made. So for something like this, our only option is to trust the process and hope they do it justice.

Daniel Meissner

SPOILER........................................................................................................................................................................ What you're saying makes sense because you pointed out there are future opportunities to reveal the info. But it would make Ep. 17 events be even more illuminating of Yuuki if we knew the whole context. It doesn't seem useful to hold off on the reveal if they are planning to wait so long. By that time, people will have more trouble remembering the current context. There's also the danger of the reveal sounding like a catch-up info dump. "Oh, btw, that all happened because of this. Sorry we didn't tell you." As for Yuuki and his vagueness, they shouldn't have said half of what they said at all, I mean, about Echidna.

myst0dreamer

I would guess the anime is being intentionally vague there. SPOILER................................................................................................................. In this convo in the LN, it is straight up spelled out that Yuuki is Damrada's boss and the big boss of Cerberus. However, the anime kinda makes it seem like they are just working together or have some sort of alliance. The fact Yuuki leads an underground organization that is said to control the Eastern Empire vastly increases the power Yuuki holds and is a major piece of info, so I think the anime is saving the reveal for a later date. Probably after the events of Vol 10 or 11? So if you are wondering whether it is okay to reveal this info to an anime only watcher, I would say you shouldn't. Also, I want to hear your thoughts on what I posted in the thread under my initial comment on this episode!

Daniel Meissner

I have a question that I have been struggling with and I 'd like a second opinion, about whether something is a spoiler for anime only. I can't figure out the anime's intentions about whether they intended to reveal something. So SPOILER: ......................................................................................................................................................................................... Episode 11, there is a conversation between Yuuki and Damrada, then Kagali, that was a little vague in the anime. There was not a whole lot more in the LN included in this convo, but it was crystal clear on what I am getting at here. What I can't decide is whether it's intentionally or unintentionally vague. That is, was certain information is meant to be hidden, or did they overestimate the ability of most (actually every, in my observation) anime-only viewers to read between the lines, and did they want to reveal certain info but were trying to save 15 seconds of time by shorthanding it. If you look very carefully at this scene, you might be able to at least have some inkling of certain things. Problem is, I don't remember seeing even one person have a suspicion even. To get to the actual subject. No one has connected Orthrus or Cerberus to Yuuki, except to say that maybe Orthrus is a rival. Even though Damrada, who was involved in Cerberus is talking to Yuuki, and Cerberus was mentioned. Other parts of the conversation hint at connections, but no one gets it. It adds depth to what happened with Yuuki's and Masayuki. Do you think people should have figured out Yuuki's activities a little better by now? Thanks for considering this.

myst0dreamer

I think it was easy to miss in the anime, but we know Yuuki and Damrada are in contact. We saw that Damrada was helping the enemy faction in Falmuth AND was sharing info and cooperating with Granbell Rosso who was leading the Seven Luminaries. So Yuuki was scheming through Damrada against Rimuru. Not obvious but the info is there

Daniel Meissner

Fail on Yuuki's part, I got confused and thought he was talking about another future plan

DefinitivelyZach

All good info that will be useful and explain itself later! I was a little confused by Luminus saying she reached Hinata BEFORE she died to be honest. This makes sense in the LN because Rimuru was using his slime body as a makeshift heart inside Hinata to barely keep her alive. Rimuru was acting as life support for her so she hung on until Luminus got there. During the whole "fight" with the Luminaries, Rimuru was hugging Hinata so he could physically keep her alive, but that was not the case in the anime. And we know Resurrection is able to bring people back from the dead as long as the soul is still present, the soul does not immediately disappear after death. So to me it makes more sense that Hinata was actually briefly dead (anime only) and Luminus just got there in time so her soul was still present. But I can live with this little discrepancy!

Daniel Meissner

Note, Yuuki's scheme to get back at Rimuru, specifically what he talked about instigating in the scene on this recap, has already concluded. It had two parts, get Hinata and Rimuru to come into conflict, and throw a wrench into Rimuru's and Diablo's plans for Falmuth. They didn't work.

myst0dreamer

Biggest hint/intriguing thought was that Luminus is keeping secrets from Hinata, and that maybe things might have turned out differently if Hinata had known. Second was that Resurrection didn't really bring Hinata back to life. If her soul hadn't still been right there, there would have been no saving Hinata. Demons, being experts at handling souls, couldn't have managed it, even the Primordials. Also found out Luminus had been interested in Rimuru before Walpurgis.

myst0dreamer

I know right? How could they relegate such a crucial moment to a slideshow ending??? Unforgiveable

Daniel Meissner

I just wanted 1 minute of Luminous being horny for Hinata in the bath and I would've given this recap 10/10

DefinitivelyZach

I like that they managed to include some new info and even a little foreshadowing in this episode despite it being a recap. Obviously, no one likes recaps, but I think they did an okay job with this one. It was tolerable. I am just having flashbacks to that horrendous Solo Leveling recap episode that they released after like 6 episodes lmao

Daniel Meissner

Everyone keep in mind. This wasn't going to have an episode today at all, but they gave us a recap because of the Olympics. Studios don't like having their anime air next to something that may draw attention away from it. The fact that they gave us anything at all today was a good thing, but it's just a recap and they're not expecting many people to watch It in the first place.

OmegaAlpha 83

thank you :) I was afraid you may not want to record this episode. gg
