Music wise, I prefer Idol, the meaning of the words being sung were so personal to the story, both are amazing though. Animation wise however, op 2 has an amazing scene. Where the 5 people most affected by Ai's passing are sitting in a Theater, rewatching memories of Ai, and the dream of her performing at the dome. The way they're seated also reflects struggles we've seen. Ichigo is far removed, on his own, still present in a way, but just barely. Miyako is present, but has a devide between her and her adopted children, likely related to what she said way back in ep 2, how she was worried for Ruby, but as a mother wanted to support her. Then we have Taishi, who is closer with the kids since he's involved in the creative area of the industry, Ichigo and Miyako are managers, he's a director, directly involved, but is also the furthest from Ai, so he's seated further back. Ruby is closer, but has recovered some so is in a middle area. Meanwhile Aqua is the closest to Ai, still obsessed with revenge 13 years after. Then when Ai's image moves up, it's Aqua, Ruby, then Miyako who abscured by her image. Idk if it has any meaning, but it seems worth mentioning since the 3 closest to Ai are overshadowed, meanwhile those who have either fully moved on, or are completely out of the picture right now are still visible. Then the scene gets dark, literally leaving everyone in the dark, probably how they felt after they lost her, followed by a scene showing Aqua and Ruby diving into the entertainment industry chasing after Ai, being happy and such, and when Ai does show up again at the end, she isn't noticed and nobody is sitting there being depressed, she's supporting them, even as they move on and find new happiness. That's kinda how I view it anyways. I adore both openings, and while I prefer Idol musically, and the opening has many scenes that have meaning, this one feels a lot more hopeful, like a small story of them remembering Ai, and finding their own, new happiness on a path to recovery.
