I truly don’t know why I was heated but I talked to my friends just to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating. And they said I’ll only get even more annoyed 😭. Honestly, Buffy will keep my calm because over here I’m growing gray hairs.

I actually think the premise—that misogyny can be passed from one man to the next, infecting them with or without their consent—is powerful. It ignores the idea that women can be misogynistic, but as a way of describing indoctrination and radicalization, it’s definitely more aware and progressive than most of the gender politics that appear in the show (or the 90s in general, to be fair). I love Cordy’s speech at Lilah’s. I love Gunn fighting off the infection long enough to make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone. I love the not-so-subtle message of the ending, where you can see Wes is as frightened and traumatized as Fred, because misogyny doesn’t only negatively affect women. That being said, there is a LOT of stupid decision making happening in this episode that completely undermines the power of it. Angel is almost unbearably dumb and his magic demon immunity makes zero sense.
