Anyway-
I’ve been slaving away diligently (just kidding, I’m having fun) on the next couple of pages for the Christmas Comic, and needed a change of pace/do some drawing warm up and had this idea for a hot cocoa expansion during a cold and dark winter evening. It’s just something simple in between work, and I’ve been wanting to learn a bit more about typesetting and sound effects and took an opportunity for something that doesn’t feel as *official*. It was fun but I don’t know what I think about the end result. I think what’s really missing is action lines/effects but I got lazy and whatever I did looked wonky. Hmm…
There’s so much more to art than just drawing… and I’ve found that my degree in art and graphic design doesn’t really help when it comes to comics. It’s not really something we got to play around with.
My art has been a little all over the place (at least to me) and so much of it has been me trying to balance an art style that I like (usually takes a lot of energy and effort), with something that isn’t as taxing on my body (faster/simpler work flow). Learning more about Clip Studio Paint tools has been really helpful and the endless library of resources and assets made by other artists is amazing.
There are some things about my older art style that I miss, but aren’t really feasible at this point, especially if I want to make comics (short turnaround and high art consistency). We all make compromises, and I figured I can put extra time and effort into singular pieces instead because allowing my body to rest more allows me to make those choices.
That’s enough ranging from me, hehe~
I’m hoping to release the second page of the comic in 1-2 days or so.
XOXO,
Rosa
