I thought I’d share what the sketching process can be like and how things can change. The first image is the final result, while the second image is what it first looked like.
After input from the client and a little shared brainstorming, and creative liberties from myself, we ended up with the first image. We both like it so much better!
It might look like a big change, but it was a mix of me already having drawn some poses but backtracking, not being brave enough to see my initial vision through, and new ideas coming in.
The creative process can look so different, and is different for me almost every time I work on something.
I know a lot of commissioners feel like they can’t speak up, and while there’s not a one size fits all, it’s much better to ask than to not. It also often depends on what you’re paying for of course, but I think most artists just want the client to be happy.
I’ve had so much fun working on this one!
XOXO,
Rosa
