Backup Solution for Artists

Also: Do you use dedicated backup programs? (incremental backups etc.) or do you just pull files to an external drive etc.?

I recently got a couple of SSDs for storing work files. As mentioned, you're gonna get much more mileage out of them than a HDD. I shy away from online cloud storage because I don't trust them not to wipe all your backups for some nebulous ToS violation if you're storing erotic content. Pastebin recently did something similar where they privated all the content on their site that contained certain keywords and fucked up a bunch of my online backups. The same happened with an animator friend of mine who was using Mega to store his files. Two things to keep in mind if you go with SSD storage: QLC is cheaper and higher capacity, but it has less longevity. Watch out for price hikes, because there's a new crypto called Chia that uses SSDs for mining, and people are buying them up in bulk.

2021-07-01 19:00:31 +0000 UTCI looked into some Samsung SSDs (4TB), they are quite expensive, 300+ Euros, If I would opt for lets say 4x 2TB in a NAS Box , it would have the same storage capacity like my current external Seagate Backup Plus (8TB), not sure if this counts as an improvement, as I wanted to go beyond that. More in the 12 -16 TB range, but it seems a bit utopian admittedly.
