To me, “artist’s intent” is cope. If it’s what you claim you were going for, prove it. The struggle matters. The core of all the AI stuff that I detest is simply laziness.

As for back compat, they’ll sell you a disc drive if you want it. I agree with Cog that Starfield was the only one in that preview that actually looked better with that DLSS on. That alone made me not rule it out entirely. #DDDLSS

Xbox will have FSR 4+ and PS6 will have PSSR, which is based off the work as FSR. Switch 2 uses a modified DLSS 2 and DLSS 5 is RTX 50 series exclusive. Not to mention, FYI, you can set whatever DLSS model you want to use in the Nvidia app. I can run DLSS 2 - 4.5 on my RTX 5080 with a click. Don't want to use DLSS 5? Then don't, because it's absolutely going to be an optional feature.

Pokémon is actually on another climb, especially older stuff and the 151 set now that it's out of print. Newest set has a Mega Gengar selling for $1k raw. 30th anniversary cards start today with the starter packs and that's going to make things even crazier for a bit.

2026-03-20 11:21:14 +0000 UTCPretty vital additional DLSS5 context in this thread/video: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1rya1bg/daniel_owen_nvidia_answers_my_dlss_5_questions/ Nvidia rep finally confirmed what we all thought: the AI model only reads a frame as a 2D image with motion vectors, with no other information as an input, then uses its LLM to do an AI “enhance” on the image and paint over the original frame in real time. Beyond color grading and dialing up or down intensity, there’s also no way for developers to interact with the AI model to actually tell it their intent (like telling it Grace shouldn’t have makeup). Beyond this revealing how Nvidia has been intentionally trying to make us think that’s NOT what it’s doing, I can confidently say there is no fucking way that any actual artists would be pleased with a LLM interpreting their hard work and painting over it without even a way to guide it. I co-sign Marty’s feelings about Todd Howard’s part in this and with this additional information can’t even believe wtf he was thinking. Maybe it’s time for the man to think about retiring, ffs…
