I have a friend who has, for his entire life, refused to use self-checkout at grocery stores. People make fun of him for it or tell him it's weird, but his attitude has always been "we should appreciate the people actually working here, don't let these fucking machines replace them." He was even like this as a teenager back in the 2000s when self-checkouts first started cropping up.
if more people were like my friend, we wouldn't be here, but they aren't.

I feel like I'm hearing a bunch of discussions that should have occurred decades ago when it came to automating jobs. "What about the jobs that will be lost through AI?". Now all your appliances and cars etc. are built autonomously and are also built much worse than they used to be. If people fought back in the day I would be by their side now for this fight. But that didn't happen... so good luck...
