The Habroxia Special Edition physical run has been in the works for about a year, now, and in reality, we planned on getting this out way, way sooner than we ultimately have. I'll spare you the boring details, other than to say we feel the final product has justified the long wait, and that this is a truly special offering that I think old-school gamers in particular are really going to love. (If you're unfamiliar with Habroxia, it's our second game at Lillymo, first launched on PS4 and Vita in 2019. It's an old-school arcade space shooter in the NES aesthetic.)
Habroxia's physical SE is targeted towards PlayStation 5 players, and unlike the Super Perils of Baking PS4 physical run from 2023, in which we published 1,000 copies, we opted to go with 2,000 copies this time around. We felt bad that Perils sold-out so quickly, and while we don't necessarily anticipate that we're going to burn through 2,000 copies of Habroxia, we wanted to make sure we satiated a greater level of demand. We'll see what happens; the results will help determine the scale and nature of our next physical run.
So, here's the rub: As with the Perils SE, the games themselves were published on our behalf by our friends at eastasiasoft. I've had an exceptionally long relationship with these guys, spanning all the way back to my ancient coverage of an RPG called Rainbow Moon they published on PS3 many years ago, and as always, they've done a great job for us. (If you're curious, all the discs were printed in Austria, and then shipped to Indiana for compiling and boxing, before everything was delivered to us in Virginia. So next time you hear a developer or publisher claiming their games have to be manufactured in China, just remember that's a choice, and we chose otherwise, as we have with each and every piece of merch we've ever sold. But I digress.)
So obviously, the centerpiece of every Habroxia SE is the boxed PS5 game itself, complete with very handsome artwork by the ever-talented Lachlan Pini:

But with this special edition, I had a vision. Habroxia would have been right at home on NES, and thus an image entered my head: What if we spoofed the classic NES launch-era motif? And so I called in the only man who I knew could handle the job appropriately, and that man is Dagan Moriarty.
For one, Dagan designed extraordinary box art that you might have seen sitting on the shelf of a Babbage's in, say, 1986. You'll note that the dimensions are slightly off comparable to a standard NES box from back-in-the-day, primarily because we have to accommodate the bulk of a Blu-ray case. But in spirit, this thing is pretty much perfect. I mean, see for yourself:

Yet somehow, that box was the least of Dagan's work. Because what he accomplished thereafter is somehow far more remarkable. In addition to the box, I approached him and asked him to channel the days of yore and create an instruction manual, also in the NES tradition. When I tell you that he knocked this assignment out of the park, I mean it. He crafted a 25 page NES instruction manual that is completely indistinguishable from the real thing. You can take it from me; few people love the NES more than the Brothers Moriarty. Just wait until you crack this thing open. I literally said "this is incredible" aloud when I first held it in person just a month or so ago, and it's chock-full of custom art, writing, and more:

Those items alone would justify a special edition, but I didn't want to stop there. So we've likewise included all of the items that we put into Super Perils back in the day, too. Like a couple of snazzy postcards, for instance:

And since we loved Dagan's rendition of Habroxia art so much, we had him make us some custom stickers (I'm especially fond of the alternate Lillymo logo), and he executed on a stylish numbered certificate as well, so you know which copy in the run you received:

All of that for one easy payment of $40 plus shipping? What a deal.
Okay, so that's that. 2,000 copies await your purchase. And I mean that quite literally. We aren't like some other companies that send you shit so late that you don't even remember buying it in the first place. These games are ready to send, and will begin shipping-out on Monday, June 16th. We're hoping to ship a couple hundred a week at minimum, and are aiming to have all games in all hands by the end of August. Your patience is appreciated, as Micah is basically manning this shipping op by herself.
Speaking of Micah, I want to thank her for her hard work helping to coordinate and wrangle all of the components of Habroxia's physical SE. While EAS published the discs, we literally did everything else. Dustin's wife Holly compiled all of the manuals and postcards into their little bundles and hand-wrote all 2,000 numbers on the certificates, while Dustin himself led the charge of getting everything crafted with high-quality manufacturers. And of course, we already gave Dagan his props. Hell, Micah constructed all of the NES-style boxes, and I even contracted my niece Ayla to put together 2,000 shipping boxes. It truly was a family affair. As for me (Colin)? Well, this was all my idea, and I funded it. So please clap.
As always, we appreciate your support of all things Last Stand Media and Lillymo, and can't wait for you to get this exceptional physical run in your hands.
Have a great weekend, and be well. -Colin
