Can we just get a shoutout to Hazelight studios and Josef Fares? It's really cool how well their games have done of them, especially It Takes Two. I'm excited for Split Fiction. Recently he said on the MinnMax show "Hazelight is not for sale [...] We will never be on the stock market, never have microtransactions, no bullshit, just make games, period." and I just appreciate that mindset and I'm glad he and his team are getting rewarded for it.

Hey CDC, Playstation announced this morning that they are permanently reducing the price of PSVR2. This must be a move to recoup as much money as they can for the device right? It saddens me that they will likely never enter the VR space again after the performance of PSVR2, it's truly an awesome device.

Hello gentlemen, What is your first gaming memory? Mine was Swat Katz for the Super Nintendo. I definitely played stuff before that like Super Mario 3 for NES, but this was the earliest I remember the clearest. The music and the ass kickings we got are what I remember the most. Flying portions also cool. Keep doing what you guys are doing. You keep us average joes out there informed and in the loop Sincerely yours, The Reynolds Court

Hi boys, long time listener, first time writer. I have recently been diagnosed with Colmydia, and my OCD will not allow me to put down Yakuza 0 without filling out the completion list. Is there anything I can do to alleviate this debilitating disease’s symptoms? Or am I destined to become an expert at Mahjong and Shogi to appease my deeply held need to 100% every game I play. Colin, how do you cope with this?

Hey CDC! With Dragon Age coming to PlayStation Plus only 4 months after coming out and the failure it was. I would like to talk about the two different realities people are living in. One group I saw was praising PlayStation for paying the big bucks to get a 9/10 triple A game to compete with game pass. Then the other group understands that EA probably crawled to every place they can for any penny they could get for it. What do you think about the discourse around this move for dragon age? Thanks for all the content and keep making Fridays great again.

Hey CDC! We recently got our first look at Fable’s gameplay, even if it was just brief snippets of pre-alpha footage. While there wasn’t much to dive into, it’s exciting to finally see something from the game. However, alongside this new footage, we also learned that Fable has been delayed once again—this time to 2026. What do you guys think about a game announced in 2020 still not having a solid release date and now facing another delay? By the time it launches, it’ll have been six years since its reveal. Do you buy into the theories that the delay is to align with a day-one release on PS5 alongside Xbox? Love to know what you think! Appreciate all that you do!

Jeremy Kratka

I was gonna go to that in London but Wembley is a bitch to get to especially on a Sunday

Hi All With Dragon Veilguard coming to PS plus so soon after release i think its fair to say Ps plus monthly games might be the true best deal in gaming and this comes from a gamepass lover, you can currently pay £60 or £41 for veilguard on the PS store and Xbox Store respectfully and a year of essential is £59.99 this is literally a Net profit add in High on Life last month and Unalive yourself stop the justice league In Jan. If you're a casual gamer you literally have 100 hours plus on content for the price of 1 full game and were only in the 3rd month of the year!! forget Extra and premium the value is at the essential tier! Thanks for reading and forgive my use of the Kings Currency.

Hey boys, my write in today is for Chris. Hello CHRISTOPHA, I wanted your thoughts on Bungie’s latest legal mishap. No not the one involving Chris Barrett, I’m talking about how Bungie had to use Destin Legarie’s YouTube videos of the Red War campaign to use the cutscenes a court filing. They claimed that because the 2017 version of Destiny 2 is “no longer available”, this was the best method for the court to review the missing content from the game. I don’t expect Bungie to ever bring that campaign back, but does this speak to further studio mismanagement with this case requiring outside YouTube videos and not Bungie’s own internal video files? I’ll hang up and listen

Steve Forgione

Hey boys, If you don’t mind, I’d like to take a second to remember Monolith. What a team. In the last twenty years, they have not only delivered us F.E.A.R, who’s AI design is still revered to this day, but also Shadow of Mordor. The nemesis system is, in my opinion, one of the greatest innovations in game design in recent memory and it will always be tragedy that it’s potential is now smothered by a patent. This one hurts. Kind Regards, Max

Hi there! Yoshida has shared many things in the last few weeks, especially in Colin's interview, which was the most insightful one, IMHO. Have the things he has shared changed your perspective in any way? For example, I'd like to know if your opinion about Jim Ryan or the PC day-and-date releases is different now. Still, I'd gladly listen to whatever topic made you think differently. Keep up the great work. Thanks!

Hey CDC, Colin, how is it even possible that for over 6 months every time I check to get a Scared Symbols shirt in Medium, almost every week, they are not in stock, How? I thought I would never write in about this because of course you would restock right? But you don’t seem to, Why? Good day

Eating and Sad Libation, Last weekend, my friends and I went to a famous pizzeria for my birthday. I have loved the pizza from this place since my childhood, so I knew very well what I wanted, but my friends have different tastes — not to mention allergies. Needless to say, there was soon way too much food on the table than anyone could digest for the rest of the year. Not just pizzas, but also some nice side dishes, even including Greek and Mexican dishes for whatever reason. Though I don’t like those, I was happy the choice was there for others. I definitely could not try everything, but even what I tried I could not finish. I swear this restaurant’s pizzas are twice as large as the ones I was eating there during my childhood. Honestly, I wish it was not the case, because I soon realized I could not eat a single additional bite without puking. It was at this moment that the chef came out of the kitchen and ran straight to our table with the bill. “Thank you so much, guys, I never made so much money in one night!”, he said. “You guys are such big fans, I would like you to be the first to hear my new menu starting from next month!”, he continued. Much to my surprise, there was not a single pizza in the new carte. I found that weird since this place is a pizzeria after all. In any case, we had had just eaten way too much, so the last thing anyone at the table wanted to hear about was more food. “I’m going to puke!”, the friend sitting on my right said. “Not a single pizza?!?”, the astute friend sitting on my left noted. It was at that moment that the person sitting at the table in a corner of the room abruptly stood up and started yelling at everyone at our table — even at those who had been in a food coma for the past 30 minutes and had no idea what was going on. “I’m the greatest food critic in the whole city”, the man introduced himself. “This restaurant is the best in town, to the point that all the other restaurants in the area have gone bankrupt and have become subcontractors who deliver their cooking directly to this venue because nobody would visit them anymore”, he explained. “Oh, that’s where the Greek and Mexican dishes came from”, I thought to myself. “If you guys keep on complaining, you leave me with no choice”, the food critic whispered, tears in his eyes. It was at this moment that I realized he had drawn a gun from his back pocket and was aiming it right at my face. I suddenly woke up, sweating in my bed (but not too much thanks to my habit of sleeping Winnie the Pooh-style). I was relieved to know that this experience had just been a fever dream. I don’t have any friends, so a birthday party should have been a dead giveaway! I am not sure why my brain went into such a dark place. All I had done on that day, before going to bed, was watching the latest State of Play and immediately listening to Sacred Symbols afterwards. 🤷‍♂️

Hey CCD, I have recently been getting an aggressive amount of social media advertising for the PlayStation concerts here in the UK. What is interesting is that they've heavily discounted ticket prices, and now are as low as £31. There are still tons of tickets left too, even though they have been on sale for months now. Why do you think that is? I've seen Final Fantasy concerts here in the UK sell out pretty quickly, does PlayStation just not have the same level of cache or interest when it comes to its original scores? As always keep up the good work!

Hey fats! Regarding (mostly) Colin's inability to understand people who complain (*read in an annoying dweeb voice*): "WhErE aRe ThE gAmEs ?!" I think what you're missing are the millions, possibly tens of millions at this point in the generation - who own a gaming PC, not even that high end, who prefer to play 3rd party games on PC, and almost all of them bought a PS5 primarily for its exclusives. While most of them don't mind waiting maybe a year or two to play, let's say, something like Stellar Blade, at much higher visual fidelity and framerate - they won't wait even a month to play the next God of War or Last of Us. By this point in the last console generation we had lots of great Playstation Studios AAA PS4-only single player games, but with the PS5 - we have so far Ratchet and Spiderman 2... And if you wanna count them - Returnal, Demon's Souls Remake and Astro Bot, which aren't really AAA. Yes, there are some great 3rd party ones like FFVII Rebirth, but very few of them, and they usually arrive pretty fast for PC. So obviously, if we're talking about "possibly tens of millions" of costumers - you will see them in the comments sections, raising their disappointed voices, and I think rightly so. If you have a gaming PC - the PS5 is collecting dust. Sony wasted many of their studios' time on mostly-cancelled GaaS projects, which lead to this unfortunate situation. Sorry for writing a long one, Me

Hey Sacred Boys Last week an analyst firm put out a report containing estimated sales figures based on supply chain data for the various PC handhelds we've seen released in recent years like the Steamdeck and ROG Ally. Whilst Steam have said previously that they have been pleased with the sales of the Deck, I was surprised to see how low they were in the report. Lifetime sales across all PC handhelds stand at 6 million in 3 years according to the report, around 4m of which have come from steamdeck. Given that the Vita was considered a commercial failure by Sony selling 10-15m, do you think these new sales figures would give Sony and Xbox pause for thought on the handheld plans? Or do you think their marketing heft would enable them to sell a lot more units, or maybe they would have more realistic expectations for how their handhelds might sell. Cheers Link to news article here: https://www.theverge.com/pc-gaming/618709/steam-deck-3-year-anniversary-handheld-gaming-shipments-idc

Hey CDC, A recent report from the Verge estimates that the Steam Deck sales are around 3.7 million after 3 years. Am i crazy for thinking that is a shockingly low number? Do you think this explains Sonys hesitance to reenter the handheld market? How well should we expect a $500+ Sony handeld to sell? It just makes me wonder if Nintendos success is an outlier and maybe the portable market is more niche than we think. Love the show.

Izzy Smalls

Hey Colin, I am not sure if you had looked at this issue. There is reportedly a group "COOL DEVS S.R.L" with multiple shell units that are taking assets and/or peoples entire game, and publishing it as their own. Link to thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comments/1iy28ga/a_big_scam_company_just_stole_my_whole_game_from/ Seems they are getting these games published on all platforms. This guy "Steelkrill" had his game stolen and is linked. It's called The Backrooms 1998. I thought something like this could use a boost and highlighted to drive these people out of the gaming industry. All the best, Marc

Salam CDC, I would like to wish my Muslim brethren listeners a happy Ramadan, starts this weekend. I do have an interesting discovery this week. I heard Ben Hanson from MinnMax say that he listens to the Take Two earnings calls and noted that in the most recent one it was stated that GTA 6 would release before Borderlands, and now Borderlands has a date…is this even worth mentioning? Love & Respect Saleem Krichi

Hey boys, I am wondering if you know whether breaking NDAs or leaking footage for games has a quantifiable impact of sales. I think about how TLOU2 had its entire story spoiled hours before launch and the misinformation surrounding those leaks. The discussion about the game at that time no doubt hurt PlayStation's sales. And I even encounter people today, years later, who still think Abby is trans. Is it possible to ever figure out the actual damage and revenue lost from such leaks? And, Colin, do you have any stories from your time at IGN when something was reported on that was simply not true?

Hello Sacreds. Thought I’d do a follow up from Summoned Sign. Just wanted to give a shoutout to one of my favorite hack&slash games of the ps3 era in Darksiders. That game along with similar alternate classics such as Dante’s Inferno is what got me to branch outta my usual JRPG genre in that era. Do any of you have experience with similar games of this making? It doesn’t have to be niche. PS: Chris, if you wanna give Dauntes Inferno another go it’s in the Xbox back compat program and runs like a dream! Sadly it was Visceral games so I don’t see it ever being rereleased by EA, whom outside of Burnout Paradise seems to be anti-remaster. Take care, Easel

Hi guys, this one's for Colin. You mentioned in the last episode how much you enjoy FPS games, but you don't seem to play much Call of Duty? In my opinion, the gunplay in CoD is the most satisfying and realistic I've experienced in a long time. Everything from the sound design to the animations is top-notch and clearly high budget. Do you not think it could be a good turn-off-the-brain kinda game? Is it the multiplayer that turns you off?

Hot through the shart

Greetings High Ranking Officials of The Sacred Symbols, With just under a month till release (from when this goes live) what are your thoughts on Atomfall? Rebellion recently just posted a gameplay deep dive video explaining the game, and I have to say with every time this game has been shown I have been drawn in a little more each time. While I have enjoyed the Rebellion games I have played prior to this, this is a change to their standard affair and so far it it looks impressive but we will have to wait and see what kind of meat really is in that Cumberland sausage. Colin I believe you had pre mentioned this game had intrigued you also, so want say you 3, will you be planning a visit to the North of England this March? All the best from the grim depths of Southern England.

Hey CDC, Do you ever have brief moments where you feel like you hate video games? I do and there are many reasons for this. The more recent time I felt this is knowing no one takes creative risks anymore. Now of course I know it’s due to financial reasons but nothing feels exciting anymore. I want the days of NES style sequels back! Idk maybe I’m just depressed *laughing emoji* In short, what makes you hate video games at times if true?

Megger Death

Hey CDC, Last week you guys spoke about the interconnection between Eve Online and Dust 514. This got me thinking. With Sony’s initiative on adapting their PlayStation IP into films and series, do you think perhaps there could be a interconnection between a game and a series for instance? I know this has been done before because I played a game on PS3 back in 2013 called Defiance that was a tie-in to the SYFY show of the same name. Events and characters from the game would affect/show up in the show and vice versa. I could see Sony doing this with either the Helldivers or Horizon adaptations they announced. Curious to hear your thoughts, Nadesticker

Hey Sacred Gents, I was setting up the multiple RSS feeds this week and decided to take a trip down memory lane. I scrolled back to an old episode of Sacred Symbols for fun, randomly landing on the PS5 release episode. Upon starting it, I was immediately taken aback. Colin - you sounded happy…upbeat…jovial, even. It was unsettling. You spoke noticeably faster, like I was playing it back at 1.2 speed. Your voice even sounded half an octave higher, as if you had yet to be crushed under the weight of this existence. You certainly did not sound like the surly and broken down man I’m used to nowadays. So, did you make a conscious effort to slow down your speech over the years? Or is this just the natural toll that five years trudging through this godforsaken life takes? All kidding aside - the episode was a joy to listen to and hearing the initial excitement over the new console was fun to revisit. Having the multiple RSS feeds makes it easy to go back and find these moments, so I appreciate having them. Thanks for being the best podcast around! (But seriously, Colin, blink twice if you need help)

Ryan Diamond

Hey Gents, Colin I think this one is primarily for you. Square Enix in my view screwed up royally when they put DQVII and VIII on 3DS, particularly when Switch was right around the corner. As a result half of the franchise is stuck on the Dual Screen platforms (IV-IX). Since XI and III HD-2D Remake did well, do you think they’re kicking themselves for lack of foresight and leaving the library stranded? Or are they pleased now because it makes DQ rare and they can keep re-releasing them over the long-haul? I just hope to see more Dragon Quest. While it’s good to get 1&2 available in a good state soon, I can’t lie, I’m perpetually bummed they’ve left the series so inaccessible. Would be nice to see IV-VI remade next! Thanks

Hugh Jalode

Hey Fellas, JAFFE, GENE AND SHU!! MAKE IT HAPPEN!! I want to see them bring out Shu’s inner gooner 😂🤷‍♂️

Draven E.

Howdy gents, I have been eagerly awaiting Sunset Overdrive to be brought over to the PS5 but while scouring the internet occasionally I keep seeing that while Insomniac developed the game, Microsoft actually holds the publishing rights. Is there an expiration date on publishing rights for companies? And if so, how long do they hold these rights? How long do yall foresee us waiting for this gem of a game on PlayStation? Any knowledge of how this process works is greatly appreciated!

Riley Morgan

Hey Super Sacred Studs, With Dragon Age coming to PS Plus just a few months after release, do you think Bioware is done for? They are still many years from releasing a new Mass Effect and can’t imagine EA wants to keep funding projects that keep not doing well financially. Love to hear your thoughts and stay sexy my friends!

BlueMoose

Gents, by my count it took 28 thrusts before I managed to bust the lone bronze trophy for the second Astro Bot level. Do I need help or is thrusting for that level rather difficult?

Clark Petri

Hey CDC, What’s a game you guys think did one particular thing very well, but the overall game was kind of bad? For me, that was Atomic Heart. I thought the world building and Art Design was absolutely fantastic, but the overall game a 6/10 at best. Any games come to mind for you?

Nick Vieu

Hey CDC, Colin you need to talk to your son Chris. He is starting to look like cousin IT. I understand that he stood up his barber and is nervous to go back, but I mean Brad is a licensed stylist. Chris needs to ask him to cut his hair.

Daniel

Hi CCD, Insider Gaming reported on resetera leak about a Killzone-esque game called La Quimera (which I’ve been told translates to The Chimera). The game is reported to be made by a new studio called ReBurn which is made up of former 4A Games developers best known for the Metro series. The Insider gaming article seems to have been taken down, and there was a link on the original thread to a trailer that has since been down as well. However, screenshots of the game remain up as well as articles from other publications. Obviously it’s too early to determine anything about this game, but from the screenshots and the pedigree of the developers, I’m hoping it turns out to be a banger. What are your thoughts? Thank you for all the content you make and I hope you have a great day.

Hey Colin, Chris, and Dustin, What happened to Epic? It feels like forever ago when they were shaking things up, starting their own store front, slashing their take as a publisher, giving out deals left and right, and fighting Apple in the courts. Now it seems like hardly anyone is talking about Epic, their store doesn’t seem to have made any traction, Fortnite still isn’t on Apple devices, and they’ve been raising their prices on Fortnite items and the battle pass. Do you think it wasn’t worth it for them to do all that or was it just bad timing? Thanks, ~Matt

Matt Galeza

Hey CDC With WB writing the next chapter of “How to fuck up your business: for dummies” by closing monolith. Do you think they will end up repurposing the nemesis system in any of their games moving forward? Or do you think it’s time for them to finally do the smart thing and make free money by licensing out the tech to more competent devs? If they do pursue the licensing option what series would you love to see the nemesis system applied to? Love everything you do guys. I’ll hang up and listen.

The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch

Hey Super Sacred Bros! I have a question for Dustin. I've recently noticed my kid using the new slang term "Ohio." After swallowing my pride I looked up the definition online and learned it's a term to describe something as being mid or boring. So my question for Dustin is does this mean the Pennsylvania/Ohio rivalry is over? Can Pennsylvania claim victory?

Digitako

Ahoy boys with the toys, With Monolith and their Wonder Woman game now, unfortunately, gone with the wind, do you think Warner Bros. will get any real use out of their Nemesis system before the patent lapses in 2035? There were some interesting tweets from Gail Simone about her experience consulting with Monolith on Wonder Woman that gave a small idea of what could have been. RIP in peace, Monolith.

DandyDongles

Hey CDC, With the recent PlayStation cancelations and the overall contraction of studios, what if any PlayStation Studios would be uncloseable?

Hayden Hayes

I’m not a huge Lord of the Rings fan, but I’m with you. I enjoyed those games a bit, especially the nemesis system, but had no real oomph with me.

Jamie Hexum

I have experienced this and it scares the shit out of me! I think sitting too hard on the Gooch is indeed what does it. Good luck on your fitness journey!

Colin, The sacred community must know, what are your thoughts on your new Herman Miller chair? has it fixed your shrimping habit? i have had a Herman Miller aeron chair for a few years and love it. pro-tip, i would suggest looking into a head rest attachment such as the atlas headrest. p.s. i loved your interview with Shuhei!

Dr. Mo

Dear Sacred CEO Slayers, what is going on with Six Days in Fallujah? The game was canceled way back in 2009, and was revived in 2021 with a release date slated for that same year. However, after deep criticism from the games press, the game was delayed. Since then, I have heard nothing about it. After some googling, I found out the game was released on Steam in early access in June 2023. How can a game that drew such ire from games media during it's re-reveal cycle go so un-reported on after coming out in early access? How can a game that was almost ready for release in 2021 be delayed for so long and still be in early access? Finally and most importantly, will this game ever see a full release on console? Thanks, and keep up the good work!

The Day Man

Hey Sacred Guzzlers, Colin, we always hear that you’re a raging Magnet Man fan, but what about your favorite stage theme? Always eager to hear any answer other than Hard Man’s stage’s theme. As for Dustin and Chris since you’re not mega man fans, what is one video game track that I should listen to right now? Much love from Nassau County, LI.

Hard Man

Hey guys, Recently on an episode of Game Grumps. Arin mentioned that watches porn without sound and Dan was shocked and outraged, and this had divided the game grumps community. Some fans are on Arin's side on watching porn without sound because the actors are so terrible with their acting, to justify the sound off. While some are against Arin's side saying that yes even though we know that porn is fake, that's why we watch porn with sound in the first place for the fantasy fulfillment. Where do you guys stand on this controversy. Do you watch porn with or without sound? Personally I can't watch porn without sound, as I need the sound.

Steven Campos

I always have like 3 games in my head that I want to play and when I finally play one, I'm just thinking about the other two.

Mike Held

Hey guys Colin, I've been a fan of you since TRL, messaged afew times on PSN. It would be amazing for you to get Alanah Pearce on a podcast. She just posted a video about the shaddy company with the shovel ware games. But either way love all you guys do. Thanks for the many years Colin. Just subscribed.

Deadpool2099

Happy Thursday again, men. In the distant past of the "Stop Bullying Dustin" Wars, I suggested everyone's balls should be busted instead of primarily Dustin. Instead, we now just get significantly less goofing on Dustin. To make everyone feel equally loved, PLEASE let's make fun of one another on recordings when we flub words. It's just- I KNOW it's killing Colin when Dustin continues to mix up less vs. fewer. Also- as of late: every SINGLE week Dustin delivers another Ricky from Trailer Park Boys mashup of expressions that BEG for goofing on. Please guys. Let's all laugh 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.

Correction for Chris. Best ass in Marvel Rivals is Invisible Woman no contest. Look no further then the Malice skin and this point will not be denied. Any more ass facts needed I'll be here. Cheers

Dear Sacred crew, Let's have an LSM staff "biggest nerd" ranking list. I look forward to your discussion. Much love from the unfortunate UK. Craig

Hey Sacred Crew, In regards to the talk about the incorrect playtime on the PS5 XMB from a few weeks ago... I've actually noticed that there are more accururate times if you look in the Games tab when selecting to view your profile on the PSN. For example, two of my most recently played games (please don't judge) are Dragon Age The Veilguard and Sonic x Shadow Generations. For Dragon Age, the XMB says 200+ hours, where my profile has my playtime at 115, which is about the same as the in-game clock. For Sonic, the XMB has it at about 30 hours, and my PSN profile is at 15. It's very strange that as broken as the XMB times are, it seems they still have more accurate playtimes buried in your profile, and these broken times are approximately double the actual playtimes. Anyway, didn't know if this may help you guys at all when looking for these stats... Now I'm off to change my identity as I've outed myself as a Sonic fan.

Matthew Clem

Hi all, Do any of you guys fuck with Hades? A major update just dropped for Hades 2 and it's so freaking good. Am I crazy or is Supergiant the most prolific indie developer of the last decade plus? Banger after banger after banger after banger.

Marco Bruno

Hello men of the sacred table Last week Dustin stated that valve would most likely enter the home console space, I got to think about that and wanted a deeper discussion on the topic. What are the benefits for valve? What could they use as a selling point for the console? How much would it actually sell? How do you transfer pc features into a home console? Most importantly, valve rarely makes games anymore, if people are complaining about PS first party offerings then they would have to start talking about valve leaking too? Thanks and love the content

KZ_Eikon

Hello Gooey, Goopy, and Gooner, There is something I would like to bring to light since I totally missed this. The Frostpunk developers released a beta/demo back in December on PS5 for the "coming soon" sci-fi survival game, The Alters. A game where you're stranded on a distant planet and you have to outrace the radiation in the coming sunrise by building and upgrading your mobile base through resource collection and tool production but with the hook of making clones of yourself by messing with the main characters personal timeline, e.g. the character historically moved out to get away from his abusive father, so you then can make the change that he instead stays and stands up to his father. This ALTERation creates a whole other "you" as a clone with his own timeline, skills, and personality. Now the two of you can accomplish more tasks around the base on your race to survive. Since I first laid eyes upon this game shown in some PC Direct in 2022, I have been exceedingly excited for this game. A cool science fiction premise, built upon movies and games that have gone before. I can't wait for it's hopeful 2025 release and I can't believe I missed this demo's release in December! It's great! Did you guys know of or mention this demo release and I missed it? And if not, were you interested in this game? Did you or would you try the demo? Are there any other demos of upcoming games that you would suggest? Thanks for all your work gentlemen.

Nathan Densley

Hello boys, I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. I’m issuing a stand down to our very own Chris Ray Gun. A couple weeks ago when Colin asked Dustin what song is the verse “it’s 3 am I must lonely” from, Chris had no reaction/comment. Yet I do recall on an older podcast you all were listing new additions to your Spotify playlists and Chris mention he added a few Matchbox Twenty songs. Fake fan? Was that all just a gag? Rib tickle? Mr. Ray Gun we need answer. Thank you!

Logan Carter

Chris, what’s with saying ‘brother’ so much lately? Been watching a lot of Cenk content?

Adam Barnes

Hey gents, With the announcement of Dragon Age The Veilguard coming to PS Plus Essential just 5 months after launching, I feel validated when I was flamed in the comments for saying Dead Space sold poorly when it came to PS Plus Essential just 19 months after launch. How do we feel about EA taking the bag for poor selling titles and seemingly even quicker this time. Could we even see EA originals launch into PS Plus Extra if the price was right?

Severanceworker

Hey guys, Just watched a YouTube video that Alanah Pearce posted that relates to the Playstation Store’s shovelware issue we’ve all been noticing. I had no idea how insane the whole situation was. Not only are they cranking out zero effort asset flips, they are straight up stealing games and making small changes to them to pass them off as their own. They’ve also been taking advantage of how games are listed on the store by changing the release dates. Shadier still, they may be trying to steal some people’s identities. It’s an insane rabbit hole that I think you’d be fascinated by. Stay safe out there, for fuck’s sake.

Child Aloy

Hey CDC, What'd you think of the Trump Gaza video?

Howdy Boys I'm writing to you as I begin to drink my Suflave. I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and its sure to be a shitty night cleaning the pipes for my close-ups in the morning. This is my third one and I thought I'd share some wisdom with you and your listeners. You see for the last 18 years I've sold Benjamin Moore paint in a retail capacity, dealing with 60-100 people a day. While most are professional painters we deal with plenty of home owners. Imagine my embarrassment during my first colonoscopy when my nurse was one of my customers. Due to my excellent customer service of course she recognized me, in a gown naked all drugged up. The second time it was my anesthesiologist, who I had helped pick out paint numerous times for her house. Her words to me were, "You always took such good care of me, now I get to take good care of you." The wisdom here is this..no matter what job you do, if its forward facing customers, treat them the way you would want your gastroenterologist to treat you. You never know who will be sticking a camera up your ass. Thanks for all the entertainment over the years, may your colons be polyp free.

Definitely don’t keep compressing your pudendal nerve. You could do permanent damage. 😳lol

Hey CDC, A quick correction from last week. Colin asked Chris and Dustin who had the best ass in Marvel Rivals and they both said something other than Invisible Woman. If you need proof look up her Malice outfit but I also provided a link below. https://images.app.goo.gl/nEMpbHo7abSMPFKaA

Greetings Sacred Gents! I'd just like to say how proud I am with the work Last Stand Media has done so far this year! I enjoyed the Shuhei Yoshida interview very much and I can only imagine the greatness you guys have for the rest of the year. Thank you! Job done!

Stu Pedasso

Hey CDC, Just a quick one to answer the pervasive ' who buys this?' line of questioning when it comes to skins or over priced DLC in modern games. For context I am an austim disability care worker in Australia and I wanted to share my insights. In short, autists. My clients have gone without food, hygiene products and defaulted on bills in order to buy their favourite Roblox skin or gatcha character. I have had to argue until I was blue in the face with one of my clients why it was financially irresponsible to buy a meta quest instead of paying for groceries. It's a never ending battle with my clients on fighting them to do what is needed and forgo the feel good chemicals they get when they crack another fortnight skin. Them being locked into paradoxical relationships and spending all their left over money on streamers doesn't help either. I would also like to note these clients are more like your neet shut ins than no verbal autism, I have no clients that are higher than level 1, (the lowest austism Ranking besides none) and they simply don't wanna work cause video games are better. Sorry for the long one. Take it easy boyz

Tom Sullivan

Hey Sacred Squad, With Wonder Woman’s cancellation, do you think American game studios will be drastically reduced in 5 years? Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t a lot of successful games this generation from Asia, or a country where development costs aren’t so high. (Of course well established IPs are successful). But Wonder Woman was already at 100 million dollars with only a year development. What was the money spent on? Are salaries just that high in the U.S.? Is the lack of crunch causing game development to take so long? Thanks that all you do.

S-Tier 5 knuckle shuffler

Hey, Bromigos! Dragon Age Veilguard will be part of the Playstation Essential line up next month. Will you guys be trying it since it's included in your subscription? Do any of you have experience with the franchise?

Bono Clay

Colin’ I updated my Apple Podcasts for the separate RS feeds. Before this I had the free feeds subscribed to track individual shows. I finally removed them. Does this negatively affect your metrics. What do we do? Thanks, Joe

Interview Johnson the Landlord on Fireside Chats

Hey, fellas. This one is for Colin but anyone can answer. Have you watched the Toy Federation YouTube channel? If you like toys and you like pawn stars you will love them. It has all of the charm and none of the fake drama of pawn stars. Lots of Joes. It's just cool. Love the show, guys.

Hey Sacred Sex Symbols, What’s the best animal at the zoo?

Hey fellas, After finally listening to the IP Ranking episode from a few weeks back I had a quick question regarding Bloodborne... Is this possibly the biggest case of nostalgic revisionism in the last decade? Bloodborne did not sell well, the only splash is made was within the existing From fanbase, and frankly I find the conversation around it to be exclusively a circle jerk of From fanboys. Those were harsh words but really think about how important this game is outside of the small bubble of From fans. Even most hardcore gamers don't care about this IP, and before you object remember that twitter is not a real place. Just some counter thinking from a more relaxed gamer, god bless

Publius_616

Comment #69 OH! Good day gentlemen, Am I an idiot for buying Dragon Age the Veilguard day 1? I know we like to think we are supporting developers by being early adopters, but now that it's on PS Plus already four months after release, I am starting to rethink my $70 purchasing power lately, especially to companies like EA. Is the onus really on us the consumer for these things to succeed? I'll hang up and listen *SS+ request! Rick Hoeg WB nemesis system patent explainer please

James Pies

This is a quick one for Chris. Last episode he was mentioning how he really wishes there was a multiplayer shooter that combined RTS and standard first-person shooting action. Actually the battlefield series did this with battlefield 4 with its Commander mode where one player on the team would have a top-down commander view performing different non-action-based commands to help out teams and to direct the map flow. I don't think it was very popular but it was definitely there.

Derrek Beeck

Hey CDC, with the recent WB closures, layoffs affecting Marvel Rival devs, and Square Enix saying every game they launch is a failure- can we finally admit that something is DEEPLY wrong with AAA games? I’ve been focusing on getting my fun from indie games and things are so much better on that side of things.

Diddy’s Dong Quest

Hi CDC, On this podcast and others in the network, it is often brought up that 'Studio X' isn't the same as it was before, because 'Person a,b & c' left. This has been applied to many companies, but is this not potentially a little unfair? The big names leaving the companies were at some point unknown, but were able to prove themselves. So would it not make sense to think it's possible that someone else will step up and prove themselves too? Yes, some games studios have been going downhill after departures, such as BioWare, but the talent pool can't have dried up. Do you think new names could guide these studios to the light, or will different studios take their place in the sales charts instead? I just think with 100's of employees, it's always possible that someone could have that special sauce, but we often become concerned the moment a studio loses people we know. Many thanks for what you do, Conor

Conor Campbell

Hey CDC, Kojima's presentation of Death Stranding 2 at sxsw is quickly approaching. I don't know if I'm going to watch the new footage but I'm hoping to get a release date and maybe a look at the inevitable collectors edition. Would the Sacred panel care to place some guesses of release date and the big ticket item in the CE? For context the first game came with the funky fetus. I'm going to be optimistic and say May 23rd, and a 1 to 1 scale replica of Dollman.

The Ghost of Mark Cerny

Howdy Gents, A quick one. Is Chris aware that he has been infected by Colin's use of "In some sense" Is Dustin next to catch the virus? Stay well and take care.

kyle disanjh

What's up guys. I wanted to shout out Dustin for checking out Kid Icarus Uprising on 3DS. It's one of my favorite games of all time and all it takes is getting used to its abysmal controls. Any update on where you're at in the game right now? Do you see a chance of Nintendo doing a Remake for Switch 2?

TheUnchartedWolf

Hey Sacred Crew, Sorry but let this comment breathe. After hearing Changing my name so Colin doesn’t recognize me’s write in from last week about the Dice talk that Greg Miller stated F Trump and Elon. It is more than sad because all he is searching for is claps from the echo chamber that he now occupies. Greg use to say everyone is welcome and as Colin said would never say anything political. Sad to see where he has gone to. This brings me to a point I know forgive the long write in but I truly enjoy and like listening to Jaffe here on Last Stand Media content and it is actually because his opinion is usually completely opposite to mine. It is like with Chris. I lean opposite of what he thinks on many topics but I always want to hear what he has to say because it is usually a take different from my own and it makes me think and he even sometimes changes my opinion because of his insight that makes me realize I was wrong. We can all tell the people that just talk to their crowd versus the people that speak their heart. I appreciate that Chris and Jaffe even though we have different opinions that if we ever did talk we could have a friendly conversation and not feed the fire of division. Thank you for the episodes every week guys I always leave in thought or with a smile on my face from laughing at what you guys say!

Eric S

Hey CDC, Let's be the Devils' Advocate; long-term, these layoffs will be good for the games industry. There are too many games, too many horrible writers and too many dog shit managers. The Industry is bloated from the COVID bump and has to rightsize. Have a great day!

Big Dumb Stupid Idiot

Hello, long time listener first time caller. Do you think there is any appetite for director cut version of games? I was thinking something reverse of what movies do. Instead of adding more stuff the developers would get a game cut shorter I’m old and so tired of 30+ hour games. I’d drop $10 for a shorter experience.

Hello boys, I know what I'm about to say is rough as shit for many to bare but I find it true. There are way too many developers and projects in production. So much so the market I feel is grindr-ing up devs much like my cousin and his secret fetishes from the family until finally coming out of the closet. Anyway, I used to be a gas Pipeliner during the Obama days and my job was taken like many many others since then. When that happened nobody really gave a shit in my online circles. I'm not begging for the entire videogame industry to explode but I do feel a Thanos snap is inevitable for game devs and probably should happen. I found a new way to make a living and these people will to. Thanks for what yall do been a fan since Beyond!

Otacon_Ocelot

Hey cdc Who pulled their hair out more in respect to the monolith studies closing, Matty or Chris? The sheer incompetence of wb games knows no bounds. Curious to here what you all think. Cheers from pittsburgh

The GophersLoafers

Hey Sacred boys have any of you played any of the Just Cause games? I been tempted to play one them just to satisfy my curiosity but I’m not sure what I’m getting into. To me they look like a knockoff version of the GTA series with a mercenary twist.

Josh Correa

Hey guys. I’ve been going to the gym since January. I love the cycling machines. They have a video game racing mode that keeps my mind occupied. However every time I get off the bike my penis goes numb for a couple minutes. I think the seat is depriving my gooch of blood flow. Have you ever experienced this? Also I have a tattoo of a lightning bolt on my penis, and this experience reminds me of the numbing sensation the tattoo gun gave me a couple minutes into the session. I have a dozen tattoos and this was the least painful one I’ve ever gotten. I was 18 at the time and my friends thought it was hilarious. They recruited people off the busy street to watch me get my dick tat. I began feeling embarrassed when a drunk, homeless gentleman entered the room of at least 20 spectators. Soon I lost ALL feeling in my genitals. Unfortunately I got an irrational fear that I would ejaculate from the vibration. I never had an erection but the thought gave me a panic attack. It was a traumatic experience but I don’t regret it because having a lightning cock is rad. Have a wonderful day.

Sween flossing with his own entire body

Hey guys, Do you ever suffer from choice paralysis? There are so many games I want to play and I only have finite time to play with my job, wife and child. I feel paralysed by choice and just haven't started any of them. I know having too many games means it's harder to finish them, but how about even starting them? Missing the days of playing Wacky Races ad nauseam on my PS1 because that was the one game I had. Keep up the awesome content and go Jets (ugh).

Simon Dixon

Hey CDC, What’s the best cover song? My vote would be simple man by shinedown, blue eyes by limp biscuit, or turn the page by Metallica.

Alex

Greetings Sacred gent, It's been 3 months since the release of the ps5 pro, reports say that the Ps5 doesn't keep up with ps4 pro sales. What are your thoughts and how happy are you with your pro console. Stay nerdy/ stay heavy.

Dimitrios N

Fellow Chamillionaires, My lone, annual write-in coincides with a 15K I run every March. I throw on Sacred Symbols and wait patiently for your responses as I trudge through the streets and over the bridges of Jacksonville, Florida. Two years ago I asked for advice on running this race, and the group collectively suggested that I shit myself to keep the competition at bay. That recommendation nearly turned to prophecy, but I was able to pucker through to the finish. Last year I shared our story of IVF and our newborn daughter, and you asked why we didn't adopt. I'm not sure why, but I've come calling for more sage wisdom. I'd like each of your recommendations for a song to listen to during the final grueling miles of this race. Bonus points if any of your suggestions include the elusive "brown note," as that'd up the challenge from "Hurt Me Plenty" to "Ultra-Violence." Hope you see me rollin'.

Gulf of Jamiroquai

Hey CDC, I was thinking of a deep cut old Playstation game recently called Tecmo's Deception. Any of you remember that game at all? It involved setting traps all over a huge Mansion. Anyway, Thanks for all you do guys. Dan Cz.

Daniel Czarny

Hey CDC, Simply put, if you were a PlayStation Studio who would you be? Colin is easy. He's Naughty Dog. The core part of the portfolio yet is controversial for just being himself and/or misinformation. Sony wouldn't be the same without him. Dustin is Suckerpunch. A later acquisition that has now proven himself to be a powerhouse. And although a western studio, there's a bit of Japanese flavor. Chris is harder. Maybe Insomniac. While he's a part of other podcasts and avenues (YouTube, music). He's been a consistent and reliable part of Sacred. A little Marvel stink on our boy. What's say yall? Thank you, Justin

Justin Black

Hey fellas, I was sorting through some old memorabilia of mine and came across an old disc of Chex Quest, a kid-friendly Doom clone that came with your box of Chex cereal and was surprisingly good enough to warrent a few sequels. The nostalgia hit me like a tidal wave as I remembered how much fun I had playing this game as a young boy. Most of us will recognize Pepsi Man and Sneak King, but I was just curious if you guys have any memories of video games that came with a food purchase? Thanks for all the hours of entertainment and keep on keepin' on.

John Gottfried

Lads, How can American developers compete with the rising Chinese development industry, and to a lesser extent Eastern European and other Asian development? Lax laws and work culture allow for them to crunch, which drastically shortens development timeframs, and the cost of labour itself is substantially lower. The number one largest cost to video game development is man-hours. Is America on the path of pricing itself out of the market of producing culture and art? Thanks, and have a day.

Dwindle

Hello Gents, Was listening to Punching Up, and Maika used the term “eurojank”. I know the term and I’ve heard you guys use it. I have a question: What would you consider American Jank? I feel like scenes where you are forced to walk slowly while story is happening, sad dad simulators, and overall obsession of playing a movie is part of it.

Diyomaro

Hello sacred trio, I hope everyone is doing well. So, one of my favorite things to do is call people out on idioms that are ridiculous or they don’t even understand. Now, my targeted annoyance is someone saying “The best thing since sliced bread.” I could think of over 100 other inventions better than someone thinking of slicing bread before selling. For Christ’s sake, did nobody have a serrated knife back in the early 1900’s? How about “the best thing since indoor plumbing or the internet!” Anyways, I am hoping some of Yinz (Yeah Pittsburgher here) agree. Take care and I hope Colin’s lawnmower is tuned up and ready for the spring as that stupid rat from Punxsutawney is often wrong.

Michael J Sutherland

Hello fellas This is largely aimed at Colin, but if the other guys have stories too, please chime in! What's the greatest lengths you've gone for a platinum? I recently got the plat for The Plucky Squire, but there was a bug where I fell through the ground during a cut scene right before the last collectible I needed. After jumping through every hoop I could find online, my solution ended up being getting my physical copy of the game in, and installing the version off the disc in offline mode that didn't have the bug. Have you guys ever gone to absurd lengths to get a platinum?

Last week, the topic of dog attacks arose; I thought that I’d share mine from October. I have a Goldendoodle named Milo that weighs about 47lbs. He is trained to walk off leash with his training collar on. We were walking on a nice October morning while I was listening to Sacred Symbols or Rogan (I can’t remember at this point) when we started approaching a house that had four dogs in their front yard; three small dogs and a pitbull. Before walking past the house, we started to turn into the street to create distance between us and the dogs. Just as we made it from the sidewalk to the street, the pitbull ran at Milo. I attempted to get in between them, but the pit had its mouth around my dog’s neck. My initial reaction was to attempt to choke the dog out, but I didn’t want to put any more pressure on Milo’s neck. Thankfully, I was able to break them up and my dog was quick enough to run away(thankfully he wasn’t constrained by a leash). I approached the door to try to get the homeowner’s attention to no avail. I made the mistake of turning my back to the pit as I walked away from the property, and it nipped me on my ankle, easily shredding through my sweatpants, socks, and drawing blood. I called animal control and they said that per our city laws, the homeowner could only own 3 dogs when they in fact have 5(another pit was inside the home). They also would have to move their electric fence to the back yard rather than have it in the front like they did. Thankfully, Milo made it out totally unscathed and the vet couldn’t see any damage at all when I took him to get checked. The homeowners were nice and extremely apologetic. I asked them to pay his vet bill and they did. In summation; keep your head on a swivel while walking your pets!

Zach Wishnuff

Howdy Doody Boys, I have a map problem, and I need help. I find myself opening the map screen all the time while gaming. It's literally every 15 seconds sometimes for metroidvanias like Prince of Persia the Lost Crown and Blasphemous 2, and even for games like FF Rebirth and Alan Wake 2 where I sometimes can't completely judge how close I am to an objective, even with a mini-map. I'm constantly relying on the map to progress forward. If I come to a fork in the road I pop the map up to see what way is the dead end so I can search their first, then continue. I feel there's some organic exploration that I miss out on. If a game doesn't have a good map I'm sometimes completely turned off from playing it. Any of you feel this way about map screens? Am I just directionally challenged? What other normal game features or systems do you rely on? Thanks and much love. D-Rock

Hey 2 handsome and funny gentlemen and Collin How much autism is too much autism?

Chris' tight liberal fuck hole

Hey Sacred Crew, This weekend I was out walking in my neighborhood and I passed a parked that made me double take. It had the most gooner-ific anime car wrap that I’ve ever seen. Two girls, tits out - truly depraved stuff. Colin: as the prude of the group, what do you think about people making their gooner status public with these wraps? Would you comment on a neighbor who had one? Should the HOA get involved? Dustin: as the group gooner, when can we expect your anime car wrap to arrive? Nothing pairs with new Stellar Blade DLC like an anime wrap. Cheers gents

John Carr

Howdy gents, is it time to talk about how fornite ruined the industry or am I being to harsh and we should blame the higher ups thinking they can replicate it? A sneaky second question do you think fable comes day and date to PlayStation when it launches 2026?

David Markham

Hey guys, What if the rumored God of war remake/remaster is the 2018 game? As funny as this would be I can’t say I’d be surprised. Thanks for all you do.

The Snacksquatch

Hey Sacred gents, Hello from offshore in the Gulf of America. I wanted to say thank you for all the great content during this time away from home. My question is this: how long do I reasonably wait for Onimusha 3 remastered? After Way of the Sword got announced, I quickly transferred my PS2 bio file and ripped my owned copy of Onimusha 2 to my PC, as most people do. I never would have thought it would officially see the light of day, and now I’m questioning even ripping my completely owned copy of Oni 3. Cheers and be well

Austin Trevino

Hi Collin, My dog Muffy died after 13 years.. Okay, now that I have the “official” obligatory SS read out, is there any chance in you, this one time only, changing your stance on adding a long time fan newly to your friends list on PSN? Surely within that maxed out list of yours, there must be 1 or 2 old accounts who’ve been logged off for years now? Holla at your boy if you have the time to make a quick fix. Dustin & Chris, same for you two fellows as well, if you have the time & room! My desire to be added is solely to get that warm cozy feeling of seeing what you guys are online and playing whenever I hop online myself. Nothing more, nothing less. (PSN account: Jiggymac) Recognizing this shameless effort, and as such, my sincere apologies to anyone who has lost a pet in their lives. The pain, though, is well worth the years of joy and love they bring along the way. Wishing anyone going through a tough time with loss a slow and steady rebound to normalcy. All the best guys keep crushing it. Much love.

Justin Laszuk

Good Afternoon Gents, Wizards of the Coast has revealed a partnership with Avatar the Last Air Bender to make a set of cards for Magic the Gathering based on the IP. This will be the 3rd IP this year they will make with Final Fantasy and Spiderman being the other two to be released this later this year. My question to you all is how do you all feel about everything becoming a Meta Verse? It seems nothing can be self contained or an individual or original IP. Everything is becoming Fortnite and because it sells there seems to be no way of stopping this. Should we just make the Oasis a reality and accept it? Thank you guys for making my week, you guys are killing it keep it up. Very Respectfully, Roger Jimenez.

Roger Jimenez

Hey CDC, Colin, you have mentioned that you play working builds of Lillymo games on PC through Steam. You've also praised Steam as a platform and say Playstation should emulate some of its features. I understand you prefer to play on Playstation but for certain games I really think you should consider PC. For example, you just played through the Mafia Trilogy, all of which are locked at 30fps on PS5. Colin, you have an RTX 2070 in your PC. You could easily run those games at 60fps. You've also mentioned your love for first person shooters. Well, PC is the place to be for those as well. There are so many great FPS games on PC that aren't on consoles. I implore you to check out some older FPS games on PC like Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. (RIP Monolith). These versions are infinitely better than the gimped PS3 ports you experienced back in the day. And your PC can run them at 4k60fps. I know it's a long shot but after hearing that you play Lillymo games through Steam, I thought "Maybe there's hope for this man". Also, Dustin and Chris: your thoughts on Colin's PCDS? Thanks for all the great podcasts. Take care Gentleman.

Mike Held

Hey Gents, A lot has been said about how messy Hermen Hulst has handled Sony’s live service initiative, but I want to look at the other side of the coin—his approach to single-player projects. With Intergalactic, Ghost of Yotei, Saros and the presumed new IP from Santa Monica in the pipeline, do you think the quality of these titles can help ease concerns? Despite the uncertainty surrounding live service games, does his track record in single-player prove he knows what he’s doing on that front? Thanks.

KB

Hello gentlemen, Has the way you played a game ever fundamentally changed your ability to play it? I can’t put a combo together when I play Patapon without headphones in but when I have them in I don’t miss a beat - has something similar ever happened to you gents?

JoeyF

Greetings, gentlemen. I hope you are doing well. Chris, we might have reached a new low as a civilization. I recently read that Imagine Dragons’ song Children of the Sky, from Starfield, will be the first song broadcast from the moon. Luckily for any other lifeforms that may be out there, you can’t hear sound in space. It’s a cool achievement, but why must it be this particular band every time? Do they have the Epstein client list or something? Take care and be well.

Chris Fazio

Good day Sacred Ones, I've been a fan of the Star Ocean franchise since Star Ocean 2 launched on the PS1. As a tribute to my favorite RPG series, I’ve accomplished what few (none) have dared—I’ve earned every Star Ocean trophy available on the PlayStation Network. I've done the same for other series I hold in high regard, mostly due to nostalgia, such as Tekken, Dragon Ball, and Fallout. This most recent journey spanned 19 Platinum trophies and was well over 2,000 hours. That said, I have 2 questions. First, what are some series you continue to love and support despite some heavily criticized entries in their lineup? Second, now that I’ve accomplished my long-term goal, how do I fill this gaping void in my soul?

Bos10George

Gentlemen, I recently revisited Final Fantasy XIII to finally complete the game, since I dropped it when I first played it almost fifteen years ago. Famously, the game’s 11th chapter upends its level design, trading in its linearity for a more open world. I didn’t realize how jarring it’d be until I experienced it myself—it’s almost like XIII was handed to an entirely different studio to finish its development. Are there any other examples of games you’ve played with paradigm shifts (pun intended) in level design and structure as drastic as Final Fantasy XIII’s? Thanks, all the best.

Ember's Arcade

Shadow of War came out 8 years ago. I don’t feel like those games had a lasting impact. They were enjoyable, but I don’t feel like they really dug into the lore and world. You kinda play them and you’re done, I didn’t feel drawn back to them. To each their own though.

C.J. Hines

Good day sacred gents. I think that WB’s disastrous studio management causing the shutdown of 3 studios and the near destruction of rocksteady’s reputation is somewhat similar to Sony’s poor management of studios like Bend and Blue point. From your knowledge, do developers or studio heads have the ability to discuss and refuse decisions from the higher ups that would negatively impact their projects and future, or do they have no choice but follow these orders and suffer the consequences themselves? Thank you as always for the amazing content as always, I wish you all a great week and best of luck to all of the people affected by the recent layoffs.

Hashim Barakat

Sacred Stupendous Sirs, With the tragic closure of Monolith, what are other IP you feel could have done something awesome with the Nemesis System?

Javin Mather

Hey y’all, I was wondering if anyone is checking out Star of Providence, the newest game from Dunkey’s publishing company Big Mode. Even though it’s only on Switch and PC right now, I would especially love Colin’s opinion on the trailer, or even Dunkey’s 10 minute breakdown video. I’ve been pretty damn addicted to the game! Thanks and take care.

Fat Gotenks

Hello gents, I’m currently about 20 hours into Death Stranding, a game I had at one point written off, and that I can’t believe I almost let slip through my fingers. What do you think Death Stranding 2 can do to differentiate itself from the first game? or do you think Kojima will again lean fully into it being a delivery simulator and risk it being same-y in the gameplay department?

John

Hey gents, I want to push back on a premise I hear on this show almost every week. The idea that 1st party output has been weaker on PS5 than PS4. It’s simply not true. PS5 has been out for just over 4 years, and 1st party has released the following: Miles Morales, Rift Apart, Returnal, Forbidden West, Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, and AstroBot. That’s a little under 2 games per year, each of which have been strong game of the year contenders, and not even including the excellent God of War and Horizon DLCs and the Astrobot pack-in game. And looking forward to the next 2 years, we can fairly assume we’ll at least keep that same pace with Ghost, Wolverine, Saros, and Intergalactic. In what universe is this output considered weak from a single publisher? Now Let’s compare to PS4. In 7 years they released the following games. To make the comparison fair, I’m including Insomniac and Housemarque games published by Sony before they went 1st party: Kill Zone, Knack, Resogun, Driveclub, Infamous, Little Big Planet 3, Ratchet, uncharted 4, Alienation, Horizon, knack 2, Matterfall, Lost Legacy, God of War, Spider-Man, Concrete Genie, Days Gone, Dreams, Ghost of Tsushima, and Last of Us 2. That’s just under 3 games per year. And if you exclude the games that are below Sony’s current level of quality, the output is basically the same as PS5. That last part is obviously subjective, but I think I'm being conservative by only excluding Knack, Knack 2, Dreams, Driveclub, and Concrete Genie. So what am I missing? Do you guys really think there’s been a downgrade in output, or can we put a stop to this nonsense once and for all? Thanks, Alex

Alex Watson

Hey CDC, I heard the interview with Shuhei and have a different interpretation of what is driving, or I guess recently not driving the sales of ps5 games on PC. I, as a lifelong PC enthusiast have turned my back on PC and into the sweet embrace of the PS platform, as they finally have fidelity and a reasonable frame rate with no setup required. As Shuhei said, they release a game on PC and by the time the sequel rolls around you will want to buy a PS to play it. This is exactly what happened to me and I for one am staying put and won’t be buying any more ps5 games or frankly any games on PC. What say you, could this be what we are seeing?

Kimon Togrou

Hey guys long time listener, all the way back to sacred 195!. I write in to ask why you can't opt out of the individual RSS feeds alpha when it is becoming increasingly clear from discord and readdit topics that the only people that wanted individual feeds are a VERY vocal minority. Wouldn't it be better to opt out until they can incorporate a unified feed? That said anyway you slice it you guys are killing it! Thanks for representing lower new york in a great light, huge props from Brewster NY!!!!

Tsubakii

Well sacred boys Warner Bros have gone and cancelled and close down more things like studios and the Wonder Woman game. Have they officially become the worst company in America from an entertainment stand point?

Florida Man

Evening gentlemen, question mainly for Colin, not sure if the sons savour the delight that is the fictitious written word? Have any of you ventured into the delight that is Dungeon Crawler Carl or any other LITRPG series? What's your take on other mediums of storytelling using video game mechanics/tropes/elements in their narratives?

Jefferson Wentworth

Hi Colin, Congratulations on your interview with Shuhei! My question is simple: Why stop at bringing him back for another sacred Symbols plus? We get it -- he knows PlayStation. But you already have turned one PlayStation legend (the honorable David Jaffe) into a member of LSM's Constellation. Why not add another? I want to hear Shuhei's thoughts on baseball, the pool, his favorite music on Constellation. I want to hear his thoughts on Xbox and its role as Sony's biggest publisher on Duke. I want to hear what indie game he is currently playing on Summon Sign. Make it happen Colin! Thanks and have a great day! Best, Drew D

Drew D

Have you not played Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War? RIP Monolith.

Mike Held

Howdy fellars, What do you make of Dragon Age Veilgaurd making its way to PS+? It’s obvious why, but has there ever been a quicker turnaround for a AAA game? Peace n love!

Hey Scared Crew, Detroit: Become Human has now sold 11 million copies. Did Sony drop the ball by letting go of Quantic Dream? Was David Cage really that difficult to work with for Sony to leave all that money on the table? The new Star Wars game could have been a massive exclusive for them. I really hope we get the full story of their relationship someday—the whole situation fascinates me.

Hi CDC I was wondering if you think we will get the remaster of the God Of War games reveal for the 20 years anniversary in March? Or it is just a rumor? And could it also be a remake and not a remaster of the games? Thank you guys

Nathan

Boys can we talk about the delusion with monolith shuting down and how unfair it is when they havent made a game in 8 years

Hey bois, Shameless plug here. I recently started a YouTube channel called Peaceful Walks meant to be used as ambient noise while you’re studying, working, sleeping, or just schlitting around the house. You probably won’t read this on the cast but if anyone here is looking for some background noise with beautiful views of Jackson Hole and surrounding areas search it up, like, and subscribe! Great Job! Collin Copeland

Hey CDC, In the past month or so, there have been three The Lord of the Rings thumbnails for Sacred Symbols that have left me wondering why no one has managed to create any worth while AAA games set in Middle Earth. It’s such a missed opportunity not to capitalize on such a beloved franchise. What kind of games would you guys want or think would cool from the property? Is The Lord of Ring: Gollum really the best we can muster?!

Hello Sacred Fellows, Colin, I saw you started FFV this week, and I decided to join alongside you. I’m wondering if you’re enjoying the game so far. FFV has always been an odd duck for me with Final Fantasy. I started it on the GBA many years ago, but found the character pretty bland and the early iteration of the job system kind of boring. Never finished it then but happy to give it another go and see it through this time. Thanks for the great content gents, and kudos for a great episode with Shuhei Yoshida last week. Cheers Justin

Late to last week's party on watching the State of Play. Did anyone else catch some serious PS3 Home vibes from WWE 2K's new feature, The Island? A place to wander around as an avatar, play mini-games and dress up. How quick before we see some troll videos, just like we used to out of home, where an avatar is dressed as a scantily-clad woman, dancing in a public space and attracting a crowd, only to hot swap to a skin of a fat dude in a dirty tank top, making the crowd of gooners run for their lives?

Listen Fats, If there’s one thing that I’ve never seen brought up on SS, it’s the PlayStation Credit Card by Comenity Bank and its functionality with the PlayStation ecosystem. They had a sale recently where through the month of November and December they gave 15x the rewards for buying PlayStation products, which was roughly $150 bucks in ps store credit after buying the pro, a disk drive and an extra controller. Do any of you have experience with it? It’s my go to card for PlayStation because it gives 5x rewards which you can use to buy psn credit. When you pair that with the Stars funcitionality, the savings really add up!

Hey Sacred boys, I like the individual feeds am grateful you’re letting them stay while you work out the unified feed return with Patreon. Thanks for implementing this change! That is all, take care.

Hello Fearless Leader, Bold Second In Command, and Unpredictable Wildcard Every time I run into my favorite creators on Twitch playing a MOBA I lement to myself "If only there was a MOBA with X-Men characters I would jump into the genre post haste" So what say you, Wielders Of The Sacred Symbols, what would it take for y'all to enter genres (doesn't have to be a MOBA) that y'all don't regularly play? Take care🙏🏾✌🏾

So Dragon Age Veilguard’s final nail in the coffin has to be getting put on the PS+ monthly “free games” list for March. Rest in Peace, I’m glad I didn’t know thee

Hey Sacred Crew, I was very curious as to how much money I spent on gaming in 2024. I buy all my games digitally on PSN and all my hardware purchases came from PS Direct. My grand total for the year was $3,363.72. Almost a third of that was on the PS5 Pro, the Astrobot dual sense and the Concord dual sense (RIP). I consider myself an enthusiast , and the only games I buy day and date are Sony first and second party games along with third party exclusives. Going through my receipts I did a lot of discount shopping. I feel like that number was pretty low considering the amount of content I got for it. Seeing all the layoffs over the last two years or so, my question would be can the industry be healthy if companies can only extract a few grand from players like myself which I assume is a small minority of overall users? Sorry for the long write-in and thanks for all you guys do.

Michael Buffill

Hi Sacred boys. Do you think this year will be worse for game layoffs than last year? Also any thoughts on the recent WB layoffs?

Greetings CDC, It’s happened again, Sony is being sued for overpriced games on the PlayStation Store. In 2019 Sony removed the sale of digital codes for games on the PlayStation Store and is accused of artificially inflating the price of digital games. The Dutch company did an analysis and found that digital copies of games in the PlayStation Store are, on average, 47% more expensive than physical editions. My understanding is that digital games should cost less than physical; it’s cheaper to produce with no packaging or shipping, so a game like KCD2 shouldn’t cost €70 on the store when the same game on disc costs €60. What say you? Thanks lads, Have a good day.
