Sacred Symbols+, Colin Holiday Mailbag: The Thread

Hello!

The hosts of Sacred Symbols are recording individual mailbags for the upcoming break. This thread is for Colin.

As always, please keep your inquiries well-written and pithy. Novels, poorly-written posts, etc. are politely ignored.

You have until Wednesday, December 11th at noon ET to submit.

Comments

Look fat, Back on sacred symbols 294 at the 44 minute mark you guys all discussed the trademarking of “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet”. Not only did none of you guess it was Naughty Dog, but you all thought the name was terrible, and I’m wondering if now that you know it’s Naughty Dog and Neil’s next project, would you like to revise your opinion? Without context, names that sound terrible alone can be better if in proper context. Thanks and enjoy your holiday break and have a happy new year!

Sergio Pina

Good day Colin, I hope this message finds you well and Happy holidays to you and your family. With the announcement of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, do you feel as if this game gives off Concord vibes? In terms of the theme and aesthetic it feels really similar to that forgotten game but it’s Naughty Dog so I know they will deliver once the game finally releases but what say you?

Echos93

Colin, a long long time ago you could walk into an xxx rated video store and see the cover of pornos with titles that were hilarious riffs on actual movie titles like "The Loin King" or "Sperminator." Every once in a while I'll make one up based on a video game. Is this something you've done and if so, happen to have any in mind you'd like to share? Thanks.

Francis

Hey Colin! You recently talked about Jason Rubin on Sacred, but do you know what Andy Gavin has been up to in recent times? He seems to have disappeared from gaming. He would be a really interesting guest on Sacred +

Scott LaFontaine

Hey Colin, Have you ever reached out to Shawn Layden about being on Sacred? I feel like every week there is a news story about him being interviewed and telling us how the industry is fucked. I feel like he'd be a great guest and seems totally getable.

MovieGuy34

Howdy Colin, What are you most proud of in 2024? What is a goal that you have for 2025? Thank you very much for everything that you and your team do every week to create fantastic and engaging content! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends! -Robert

Robert

Hey Colin, Tri-Breaker is out today, downloaded and waiting for me after work. Have you ever thought to add a "Lilymo" tier to Patreon, that would include codes to new games? You guys seem to release a game a year and if there was an extra $3-$5 add on for Lilymo support, I would sign up. Thanks and have a relaxing break!

Anton Kaye

Hi Colin, Did you ever finish the walking dead ? I remember you watching it and enjoying the Caaaarl meme. For me the first 6 seasons are great then it's a bit hit and miss. Enjoy your Christmas!

Murderer Kevin

Hey Colin, You keep saying that Twitter fired 90% of its staff since Elon took over and it’s still doing well. Do you actually believe this? People are bailing on the platform en masse and it’s turned into a completely unmoderated cesspool of hate. There’s always been some element of it, social media always will, but Elon continues to remove safeguards that were in place to protect the average user from seeing things they never would choose to see without the app’s completely borked algorithm and moderation tools enabling it. It feels like it’s a long way away from being THE place you could reliably go to for news and what’s happening in the world like it was in its heyday.

Tdot’s Finest82

Too late I assume, but did you ever end up watching the Hannibal tv series? I heard you say you wish people told you about tv shows on the latest SS episode. I recommended this (s2 particularly) during the KF days but I assume it's passed you by. I still recommend it.

Nick O

Damn I missed it…

Chris Evans

To the Prime Sacred Sage, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Economy of Good Will. This is a currency that creatives must learn to manage the same as money or time. You can build a lot of good will by releasing a good product that respects the audience’s time and attention, treating your community well, and providing timely and meaningful communication. You can also squander banked good will by neglecting these things. Examples: George R.R. Martin, author of Game of Thrones, last published 13 years ago. The Game of Thrones showrunners burnt all good will by phoning in the last season of the show in favor of a bigger and better deal (their own Star Wars trilogy), then lost the aforementioned deal in consequence. Fans have waited years for Hollow Knight devs, Team Cherry, to release Silksong, with little to no communication. It’s often said that your favorite artists don’t owe you anything. But that’s a two-way street. The same can be said for audiences: they don’t owe artists anything. If I pay for your book, album, or game, the transaction is complete and continued loyalty isn’t guaranteed. Loyal fan bases are cultivated by the economy of good will. If creatives want to claim they don’t owe their fans, then it is equally true that their fans don’t owe them anything, either. I understand the struggles and delays in bringing a project to fruition. But these problems can be solved with one simple thing: good communication. I personally believe creatives bear the responsibility to deliver on their promises to the fans, such as the implied promise of a third book in an acclaimed trilogy, or a long-awaited game. And they equally have a responsibility to communicate well with the fans who have supported them and contributed to their success. Conversely, fans have a responsibility to respect their favorite artists and not be rude or belligerent. Thoughts? I await your wisdom.

Andrew J. Clark

Colin, As a lifelong 311 fan myself I must know your top 3 albums and why! I think mine are transistor, grassroots and the blue album. Just wanted to pick the brain of a fellow huge 311 fan! Thank you!

Parks n Wrekd

Colin, I know baseball is too hard to keep up with, but what basketball? Knicks have been a great team to follow these past few years. Has this never been your sport? To me, basketball is the most watchable, and easy to understand sport there is.

NeighBuRrR

Holidays are a great time to enjoy some rhythm-action games, don't you think? Especially ones that were once Xbox exclusives...

Michael Elady

Hey Colin, have you ever watched a CFL game? (Canadian football league) We are so nice here in Canada if you miss a field goal you still get a single point. Thoughts?

Mitch Orobko

I just listened, Pete. That is awesome! Thanks for the laugh. 😉🎄

BettyAnn Moriarty

Hey Colin, I've been playing through Final Fantasy 1 and have found it such a cozy experience. I'm learning through both FF7 and this that these kinds of traditional JRPGs feel like a genre yet untapped by me. My plan is to go through the other FF games (and I picked up Dragon Quest XI too), but just wondered what other JRPGs or similar games you'd recommend? Thanks for all the great shows, hope you and Micah have a good holiday season and happy new year!

JoshM

Hey Colin - what would you say are your top three favorite game genres these days, and how has that evolved from when you were young? Merry Christmas and thank you for an amazing year. Excited to hear about your favorite games of the year (hopefully) on Summon Sign or somewhere.

Giovanni D'Amico

Greetings, Exalted One, what incident or series of incidents from US history do you reckon would be the most interesting if adapted into a video game?

Jefferson Wentworth

Hey Colin, Is Far Cry 3 the most influential game of the past 15 years? It created the open world blueprint that many games still use today. It also pioneered the "choose your play style" of approaching situations stealthily or going in guns blazing. Nowadays, almost every game gives you this option, but it was a revelation back in 2012. I seem to remember Metal Gear Solid V getting a lot of praise for it's open ended gameplay and freedom to approach missions in a variety of ways, but in my opinion, Far Cry 3 did this 3 years earlier. I feel like people have soured on the Far Cry franchise in recent years and thus, I don't think Far Cry 3 gets the recognition it deserves. What do you think? Thanks for all the great podcasts! Merry Christmas!

Mike Held

Hi Colin, As a fellow uncle, I was curious if you have any thoughts on how your nieces and nephews play games. I've been introducing my nieces and nephews to games over the past few years, and they've just started Astro Bot. They really enjoy it, but since it's their first 3d platformer, they're struggling on the harder sections. If they die once or twice they immediately ask me to do it for them. I'm curious if you have any similar anecdotes? I feel like back in the day, I would spend hours trying to beat sections on my own. Should I tell them to git gud and explain how games used to be more difficult? Have a great holiday break!

Ben P

Hey Colin, With the recent controversy surrounding Jacob Troubas trade to the Ducks, what is your opinion on No Trade, No Move Clauses and should management be allowed to send players to waivers to circumvent this? Thank you for all the years of content and hope you have a happy new year!

StinkyPinky

Merry Christmas chief! After a debate amongst my friends I thought I would pass the question to you: growing up did you ever have coal or potato’s in your stocking/santa sack? I am convincing my friend that this is actually uncommon and he may indeed be carrying some childhood trauma.

Steve Gray

Hi Colin, and may I add, Merry Christmas, I was thinking the other week about what you Americans call The Victorian Era. Being English, this term is just part of our vernacular, but what do our friends across the pond refer to this time period as? Does it depend on where abouts you live? Is it broken down into smaller chunks, like The Civil War etc.? Given your studies at college, I figured you'd be the best person to ask. Thanks, and I hope you have a wonderful 2025

Lee Davies

Hello Cobra Commander Colin, The other day I showed off an N64 controller to my friend's 5th grade kid and his friends. When they saw it they didn't know exactly what it was. However one of the kids confidently said it was Nintendo's original controller. Of course I corrected them, but it got me thinking. What is something that you wish today's youth knew about gaming or gaming history? Happy holidays. I'll hang up now and listen.

Nevets

Hey Col Maybe this comes up a lot but what are your thoughts on cutting Stelle’ to 3 people? Personally, it’s really deflated my interest in the show because it reduces the group-vibe it originally gave off. Maybe I’m just nostalgic for the old format b/c it was a lot closer to the old Greggy show but 3 people has a much different feel than 4. Am I in the minority on this?

MikeLee

Good day Big cobra Colin. I don’t remember if you explained it in the past, but you why do you get turned off by games that have souls-like elements? You famously love mega man games, which in my opinion can be as tough as any 2d game With souls elements like hollow knight, Blasphemous, and nine sols to name a few. Thank you as always for the amazing content as always, and I wish you and last stand family a merry Christmas, a happy new year, and a wonderful and successful 2025.

Hashim Barakat

Big Daddy Colin, Merry Christmas to you and yours. My query is simple, do nacho toppings belong under the cheese or on top?

Kyle Clayton

I’m halfway through FF7 Rebirth and I’ve been annoyed so far by all the mini-games it keeps throwing at me…I know it’s your game of the year but did you feel the same way through the first half? I have hope the second half will be awesome though…🤞

Napoleon in Rags

Merry Christmas Colin! Simple question, what books are you reading, if any? Any new recommendations? Still reading Walter Isaacson’s Benjamin Franklin on your recommendation and will get to Steve Jobs soon. Hope you and Micah enjoy the holidays and thanks for everything you do!

Ethan Barcelos

Hey Colin, Do you think 2025 will rival 2023 in terms of critically acclaimed big releases for video games? What do you predict will be your personal game of the year for 2025?

Steve

Hi Colin, I asked this in Chris' mailbag but would love your opinion as well. Have you seen David Mitchel's video on American sayings? There's a bit where he talks about the phrase you guys say: "I could care less" and how it doesn't really make sense if you're using it to say you have no interest in something. Us Brits say "we couldn't care less" as in we don't care at all. I recommend watching the video as it's very funny and he goes into more detail. https://youtu.be/om7O0MFkmpw?si=gkaqeUy-Ux3eBcJ0 Thanks, Pete

Peter Martin

Hey Col! I was wondering if you ever think or worry about in near future, say 6 years or so, Playstation and gaming moves to an only cloud streaming by subscription model? Not only zero physical copies, but no purchasable digital copies as well? Just a Netflix/Spotify gaming model? Microsoft is definitely pushing that charge. As a 44 year old physical media gamer, thats my endgame fear. Love the shows! Jesh

Jeshua Anderson

Hey Colin, I was wondering if you ever wanted to do a new spoiler cast for The Last of Us Part 2. I know you and Micah did one for the part 1 remake and you’ve said in the past you would get around to playing the part 2 remaster. I know you love the game but would love to hear your thoughts on it 4 years later. Thank you to you and the whole LSM Community!

Logan Carter

Do you ever get tired of people asking you to comment about Kinda Funny? I remember when you left IGN you had to declare that you’re no longer going to yell “Beyond!” because you had moved on from that and couldn’t be beholden to the word. Do you ever feel like that about Kinda Funny?

Brendan Ryan

Hey Colin, No question, just a thanks. Keep going!

Nathan Densley

Colin the Keyless, When are you going to let your heart be your guiding key and finally play through the Kingdom Hearts series? I think a large contingent of LSM listeners would love your opinions on the series after playing the games. Thanks, Zach

Zach Wishnuff

Lol this is fucking amazing haha

Dick Whiskey

If you had to predict it right now, what happens to Ubisoft by this time next year?

NeO JD

Merry Christmas king, What will happen first, Jets make the playoffs or sacred symbols episode 500?

Titans1fan93

Dude random aside. I used to work with the actor who played Ethan Mars. His name is Pascal. And one day after work we were having a beer and I showed him the video of the bugged out end where he keeps yelling SEAN! through all of the action. He'd somehow never seen it. It was surreal as hell both of us laughing our asses off at that.

KeanuReeve

Hey Colin Merry Christmas to you and your family. On previous shows you have often said how you feel like you have graduated from playing Nintendo games and I was wondering if you could elaborate on what you mean by this. I understand the argument that there is so much to play these days that it makes sense for you to focus on one platform in PlayStation but you have also always said how you used to love Mario, Zelda and other Nintendo franchises and have also always said that you and the crew should play what you want, so what stopped you playing newer entries in some of these series? When you say you graduated from Nintendo it comes across to me like you consider Nintendo games childish now but you played AstroBot this year and have also commented on how great Sly Cooper is so that has just confused me further. Is the graduation comment meant to be disparaging towards Nintendo? Cheers

Kurt Lewin

Wassup homie! I love Nu-Metal. You love Nu-Metal. My question is simple. Which Limp Bizkit album do you think is better? Significant Other Or Chocolate Star Fish. PersonallyI think Star Fish has the better production and wild hits that really opened the door for the new millennium. Tracks like My way and My generation are still in rotation. Thanks for all you do and tell that chicken to keep Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’ ( in Fred Durst’s voice ).

Metal Nipples Solid.

Hi Colin, Amber by 311 is a California song, besides you disliking that song, what songs defined Southern California and Northern California for you?

Raul Hernandez

Colin, As a lover of both music and games, why are you preaching about wanting new things from games but for music, you're stuck in 2003? There's so much good music and new sounds that I'd hate to see you completely miss out because you think you don't have the time or you're not open to it. Happy Holidays, JP

JP

I know I would

Drew Lee

Would you eat a hot tub rib? The best rack of ribs in the world (yes, the world voted and these are them) floats up from the bottom of a hot tub while you sit and relax. Would you eat it? It did come up from the bottom of said, hot tub. So, with that said, would you eat the hot tub ribs? Thank you, continue content.

Drew Lee

Hey Colin, if these 5 games were shown off tomorrow, how would you rank them from most hype to least hype? A new 2D Mega Man A new 2D castlevania FF7 part 3 Last of us Part 3 FF6 remake. Happy Holidays. P.S. I hope your back is doing ok. I also had back problems, back in September, from bad posture. A posture brace helped correct my posture. I also got a few massages and the little electric shock therapy on my back. Now, my back is better.

Hand Solo Job

Hello Colin! In your experience as a journalist and working in the industry for almost 20 years (more than 20 years?) why would a developer (or any other person working in games) leak any information? What's the benefit for the individual? I understand when it's deliberate in the sense of creating hype, but I'm talking about when it's actually leaked. Thank you very much for your work and all the team in 24, a great holliday to you guys!

Matheus Lutz Ramos

Colin Will you be playing the Soul Reaver remaster? I would love to hear your thoughts on the game do you like remasters?

Nick

Hey Colin You’ve said before you own It Takes Two but haven’t played it, even though Micah has mentioned how much she loves co-op games. What’s stopping you from giving a coop game a shot once in a blue moon? It’s not like anyone is asking you to jump into Warzone or a raid in Destiny 2. Lego Horizon was a fantastic co-op experience for me and my partner—it’s basically single-player with a buddy! Is it principle, stubbornness, or do you just not want to share the spotlight with someone who might be better than you at puzzles?!

George Hall

Colin what would you do if Jim Ryan turned up at your house and without saying anything just started rearranging your cupboards and drawers?

Matt The Outlaw 🤠

Hi Colin, Have you ever come across a band called The Protomen? They're a rock group heavily inspired by the Mega Man series. I stumbled upon them while exploring vintage gaming magazines on Internet Archive, and they've been a fascinating discovery. Thank you for everything you do— keep fucking that tasty pecking bird!

Norse Nutz

Good morning Colin, how do you determine which games you play on the PS5 with big screen tv and which ones you primarily play on the portal? The portal has been great at keeping more engaged with my PS5 given my busy schedule. Thanks and Merry Christmas

Nick C

Colin, Have you ever considered launching a survey to your patrons to get a better view of the demographics of the listeners. Not opinionated questions like what’s your favorite game, more like age ranges, male / female, home consoles owned, PlayStation plus tier subscribed to, number of games purchased in the last month, last year, etc. Wondering if this data could be useful when seeing statistics come out surrounding the industry if the LSM patrons are on trend or bucking it. Thanks for all you do, LSM podcasts are the highlight of my week, I could not get through the mundane without them.

The Baffling Cultural Significance of SpongeBob

Hi Colin, now that the whole kinda funny ordeal is in the past and that part of games media is basically dead and irrelevant. Ie streamers have more sway and say than Kotaku etc. If LSM decided to flip the script, review games early and start working with the games industry in a more direct manner how would that effect the company would it become too big to handle? Or would the bridge burn because the LSM team are actually honest with their opinions. Kind of a stupid question i just kinda wonder what LSM would be with a more corporate style approach.

Reuben Barrett

Hi phat, How do I connect my PlayStation 3 to the internet? Happy Holidays

Lars Serny

Hey fat, Does it feel weird being in games media for so long and not playing the switch as it's about to become the best selling console if all time?

Brando-Kazooie

Hi Colin, You’ve often talked about PlayStation tapping into the Nintendo sphere in the future. We have seen the first example of this with Lego Horizon. What other games do you think they’ll port for easy extra money? I don’t think Lego Horizon sold well, but what about some guaranteed stone-cold PlayStation classics that have little to no risk since they wouldn’t be new or have to be made from the ground up? I think perhaps porting Ratchet and Clank (2016) or the Bluepoint Uncharted Remasters would be easy money for Sony. They could even go further back and put the Jak and Daxter Trilogy and Sly Cooper series on the Switch. Why not? What would they have to lose? Just curious about what you think of those games going over to the Switch and what you think Sony’s next move should be if Lego Horizon didn’t pan out how they wanted on the Switch. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

yosh_wah

Hello Colin, As an average gamer who would like to play the best games of the year, do you think that selecting games based on the Game Award nominations or going for IGN top reviewed games of the year are the best ways to pick up games for the past three to four years? (this is a sincere question with no intention to irritate you with it)

Azzan

Good day Colin, What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned being a leader? I find myself being a reluctant leader in my field of work. Just looking for valuable insight.

claytortot213

Hey Colin, I just want to hear more about your dogs. How old are they? What are their personalities like? And how do they fit in with your current lifestyle - especially that you and Micah are both night owls? I have a Boston myself and it is remarkable how much energy he has!

mcarbra

Hey Colin, With games of the last few years starting to use Gen AI (like how High On Life used it to generate posters in the game), do you believe there is a line where you would refuse to play a game because of its use of Gen AI?

Mike Morrone

Hey Colin If Sam Darnold becomes a Free Agent after this season should the Jets sign him for the ultimate redemption arc? Kraemer Not Cosmo

Kraemer

Hey Colly boy, What would it take for you to stop being a Jets fan? Is there an egregious enough error, for example the DeShaun Watson trade and extension, or heartbreaking enough loss that could keep you from tuning in week after week?

Dexter Wallingsford

Hello Colin, With Christmas coming up I asked for Marcus Aurelius “Meditations”. Meanwhile I often hear you bring up Ayn Rand, objectivism and other works on the podcast so I wanted to ask, What other philosophers writings have you enjoyed? I’m looking forward to your recommendations once I finish Meditations. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Areola Connoisseur

Hey Colin, In tune with the holiday season, I wanted to ask you, from a professional standpoint what is your favorite memory from each individual major step in your career? So, favorite memory pre IGN, from IGN, from Kinda Funny, and LSM (so far, of course) Wishing you and yours all the best <3

Petre Cismigiu

Hey Colin, With Xbox seemingly on their way out of consoles, do you see PlayStation trying innovation concepts with hardware? Seems like the cell processor really spooked them with Xbox 360 being their to become a favourite for developers who were down on the cell processor tech.

slick

Hey Colin you’ve mentioned being a Dragonball fan before and I was wondering if you caught the Ocean Dub with Peter Kelamis as Goku or the funimation dub with Sean Schemmel instead. Personally my earliest memories of Dragonball had the Ocean dub voices on vhs but when Dragonball was syndicated on toonami it was the Funimation dub.

Yo mamas so fat I had to rent a server farm just download a picture and I still didnt have enough space!!

Hey yo, so I am a big fan of the Uncharted series and I’m hoping for an announcement of a new entry soon. Played them all except for Golden Abyss, because, to my unending shame, I never owned a Vita. Colin! Do you think this well regarded entry will ever be ported to console? or will it forever be locked on the Vita. Also, where do you rank it in the series?

Matthew Christ

Hey Collin, Have you by chance seen that there is a new documentary avaliable on Amazon Prime Video about Madden called "It's in the Game"? It showcases 2 timelines, with one being about the history of the game itself through about 2009 or so, and the other being about the development of this year's Madden 25. I know that you don't play anymore but as someone who grew up playing some of the originals I think it's a great look into the history of one of your childhood favorites. Happy holidays!

Antonio Rodriguez

They are mostly dinosaurs, aren’t they?

Matt

Colin, Who asked who out first between you and the Missus? None of our business, of course, but I'll ask anyways because I'm curious how the relationship evolved. Stay frosty and press X to "JASON!"

Dick Whiskey

Colin, Why does everyone insist on calling the machines from Horizon “dinosaurs”? Apart from the tall necks and a couple of others, they are clearly modeled after current day animals. There are crocodiles, deer, bears, bulls, etc. I have to give that copy cat game credit just for acknowledging this by calling them mechanimals. Let’s set the record straight: they are not dinosaurs.

Ben Griffin

Hey Colin What are your current most anticipated games for next year?

Josh Correa

Thanks for doing a mailbag! I’ve been wanting your opinion on a certain topic that I couldn’t ask on sacred symbols so this is perfect! Colin, I understand you to be a big Incubus fan. This year the band re-recorded morning view and Brandon Boyd’s voice has changed so much, it made me feel nostalgic and quite frankly mortal at how long I’ve been a fan of them. Did you listen to this album? And if you did what were your thoughts on how the band sounds now compared to 25 years ago? I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas and God bless!

Whiskeywhiskey

Hi Colin, Congratulations on another successful year of Last Stand Media. Summon Sign ha quickly ascended to my favourite podcast! With that said, we are coming up to a year of Brad being part of LSM, how would you rate his performance so far? I personally think he has been excellent. Keep on keeping on.

OTTAPPS

Hey Colin, Wanted your opinion on something. It seems as I get older i require a lot for a game to stick to me before I wonder to another game which just leads to a plethora of unfinished games. It's not that I don't enjoy them just seems like I'm not in the mood to play them at the moment. As someone who has as many trophies as you do, do you ever run into this issue and how do you solve it? Thanks

Vault101guy

Hi Colin, I have two important questions. One : Do you only collect the retro GI Joes, or have you dabbled in the newer Classified line from Hasbro? Two: Do we keep Rodgers (who has been semi-decent since the bye) or go full scorched-earth and begin afresh? Merry Christmas to you and yours!

David Shattenborough

Emperor Colin, What company goals do you have in mind for last stand media in 2025? 2024 started off with an absolutely legendary hire (being Brad of course) and pumping out shows like clockwork. It seems like you guys never take a break. Thank you for everything

BUTTLORD

Colin, why don't game reviewers adhere to a scoring rubric for elements most people would find undesirable in their games? For example, "Indiana Jones" just launched with an early access period you need to pay extra for. Reading reviews, nobody mentions this informatively, let alone as a thing that would negatively affect their numbered score. Why not say: "If a game has early access that the consumer must pay extra for, we automatically dock a half-point from its total score?" Also, why not extend this idea to other elements most consumers would find undesirable? Cash shops, battlepasses, season passes, "time savers," etc. They're basically an accepted reality now. The battle against "paid early access" can still be won! (but probably not)

Matthew Miller

Hello Colin, Heard you talk a lot about various jrpgs but rarely, if ever, about Xenogears. Did you play it, enjoy it? Greatly appreciate all you and your team do, Raj

rajib basu

Hello Colin, I've paid attention to you mentioning your love of Metroidvanias, especially over the past year. As a long time Metroid fan, I'd really want to hear your take on Metroid Dread. We all know about the stinky Switch level of the platform, but this game runs at 60 fps, looks great on a 4K display, and has great boss fights. It's also one of the more difficult Metroid games and it's done in a fair and rewarding way. Another benefit, it's about 10-14 hours if you want to 100% the game. It's not without its faults, but I'd still really like to know what you think about it. Thanks for reading and happy holidays!

Jamus Hain

Colin, I have to issue you a stand down. On the most recent episode of sacred plus, with Brad, Dustin and Chris, you said some things about G.I. Joe that were untrue. First you said that Cobra La was an offshoot of Cobra. Cobra La existed before Cobra, and that's where Cobra Commander came from. So Cobra, is the off shoot of Cobra La. You also stated Burgess Meridith was the voice of Sepentor, when he was the voice of Golobulus. I'll chalk it up to old age(we're the same age, so i know) and soft core drugs. I say this all in Jest, and have a wonderful end of the year. Thank you for all the content you and the crew have provided over the last year.

Angel DeJesus

Hey Colin, I just got the Platinum in Habroxia and am one trophy away (New Game Plus) from obtaining the Platinum in Habroxia 2. I really enjoyed both games and am excited to play more from Lillymo. Do you have thoughts/plans on what you'd want out of a Habroxia 3? Cheers and take care.

Kazden Risk

Hello Drac’sCurse! You’ve mentioned the desire to seriously revise your top games of all time list. Since I don’t expect you to be able to give me a new top 5; what more modern games do you expect would crack your Top 10? I wish you, your friends and family many holiday blessings 🙏🏼

Diddy’s Dong Quest

What’s up dude, I’ve wanted to write this in for a while now but keep forgetting. When I saw you at the SD live show I genuinely thought two things. 1. Wow, Colin is actually really handsome in real life, not like you are ugly in pictures but you had a presence to you that I was not expecting (I’m straight, just take the compliment.) And 2. Holy shit his hair is thick, it looks like a Lego persons hair. I have very thick hair but yours blows mine out of the water. Thats all dude, had to get that off my chest. I hope You, Micah and the Pups have an awesome Holiday.

Davy Sueppel

Hello Colin, What is the role of writing in your life right now? Is it isolated mostly to Lillymo now? Cheers!

Owen S

Hi Colin, I'm currently playing through Metaphor and, though the game is amazing, one thing in particular bugs me: dialogue choices with no consequences. For example, I started a boss fight and was presented with 2 dialogue choices, yet neither option changed the proceeding dialogue. Why do games, particularly JRPG's do this, and what are your takes on this as such a big fan of the genre? Thanks for all you do, and may you and your family have a very merry Christmas. Liam Venencia

Liam Venencia

Hello leader of the fearsome SS! Has there been a game that you’ve played this year that has taken you by surprise? Could be a game that was better or worse than you expected. For me it was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Thought it was a pretty solid game and would have loved to see what the team could have done with a sequel. With the team being closed, I guess we will never know. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Queefer Sutherland

Hey Colin. Can you explain like I’m five years old why games take so long to make now? Why can’t developers just reuse assets ad nauseam and pump out entire trilogies like Uncharted within a generation? Happy holidays!

Ernie M

If Fantasy Slop Softcock Boy was to meet Southern Man, what do you think would happen?

Matthew O'Sullivan

Hey Colin, does anyone hate nazis more than MachineGames? The Great Circle is awesome, hope to hear a spoilercast.

Hey Colin. How much reform do you think the industry needs before it feels sustainable again? I’m a software developer, I don’t work in games, but I know a few people who do. From my (slightly informed) perspective, it seems totally unsustainable with such a heavy live service push from so many publishers. How many public failures need to occur? Or has that shift already taken place behind the scenes?

Good day Colin, You often say you don't like recommending games, movies, shows, etc to people. Is this because a recommendation backfired on you in the past? Could it be you don't recommend people things so they can't recommend you things? If that's the case, I wouldn't blame you. No conversation is worse than, "you haven't seen this!? Oh you have to watch this it will change your life. It's only 8 seasons with 25 episodes a season!!!" Thanks for reading my question, have a great holiday.

Samurai Costanza

Colin, Who has had a more disappointing season, your Jets or my Bengals. Both teams had Super Bowl aspirations but seem to have fallen on their face. The bengals cant seem to get the final drive in any game, and the Jets offense isn’t consistent. They each have pieces of post season powerhouses, but something just won’t click. Again I’m just focusing on this season, not historically. The bengals have been to the playoffs since the 3ds launched so I’m not complaining too much. Keep up the “we’ll get em next year” mentality. Happy holidays!

Hey Colin, Merry Christmas to you and yours! I had a thought last night while watching some of Happy Console Gamer’s content. We have Moriarty X Jaffe, which is great for covering the more modern era of video games and its topics. Onto my thought—you’ve mentioned in the past the possibility of a retro PlayStation podcast or episode, and in my opinion, who better to do that with than Johnny? Now that he’s been introduced to the LSM community thanks to Brad, it seems like a perfect fit. Would love to hear your thoughts and your interest in being on a future podcast with HCG.

Colin. What is the form factor you desire from the next PlayStation portable system? You want it more like the vita or portal? Or do you want something completely different? And what would be the name of this system?

thejjuan1

Howdy Colin! My question is simple. What is your favorite Christmas movie/holiday special? Thanks for another amazing year of LSM content. I can’t wait to see what awaits for us in 2025!

Hi Colin, What is your biggest video game related Christmas disappointment? I once I unwrapped a game on Christmas Day called "Mario's Missing" for SNES as a child. On paper it looked like an awesome Super Mario World sequel but when I put the cart in and turned it omI was incredibly let down that it was an educational game. I stopped "believing" that day. Take care, I will hang up and listen now.

Hey Colin, Everyone talks about comfy, nostalgic, and comforting games tied to seasons of the year or seasons of life. Whether we're talking the winter months and holidays like right now or specific, personal memories, what are some of your strongest game associations. Square's Summer of Adventure in 2000 stands out to me with the trifecta of Legend of Mana, Threads of Fate, and Chrono Cross, Cross especially capturing the warmth of summer for me as well entering my sophomore year of high school and being neck-deep in my love for JRPGs at that point since the age of 11.

Hey Collin, Now that it's been a year, what are your thoughts on Brad and Summon Sign as core fixtures of LSM? As an Easy Allies fan, Brad coming here was a major reason why I started listening and I'm wondering if there's anyone else who's part of that boat Thanks for all you've done this year.

Merry Christmas Colin

Greetings Mr. Moriarty, How would you assess the Islander’s season so far? Do you think there’s any truth to people saying they play the most boring form of hockey in the league? Do you want to see them transition to the younger, faster and flashier style you see from the likes of the Devils, Sharks and Sabres? Hope you have a lovely holiday and thanks for all the LSM goodness this year. ❤️

Hello Cobra lalalala Commander hope this day finds you well, When you get to interview any of the devs that come on to the show, how hard is it to not try and ask questions about their current projects like with Ken’s Judas or Neil’s new game? Do you ask for a hint or an idea without sounding like a fanboy? Thanks and have a merry Christmas to you and your family

Merry Christmas to the WICKEDLY talented Colin, As a fellow Jets fan enduring this season, I'm curious - where do we go from here? Obviously a new GM and Coaching Staff are coming in, a new QB will likely follow, and the roster is set for upheaval. We've seen teams like the Texans and Commanders make quick turnarounds in recent years and other franchises like the Giants, Raiders and Panthers screw up multiple consecutive rebuild attempts. Do you forsee the Jets being the former or the latter? Thanks for all you do, hope a little sports chat is welcome in a mailbag format such as this.

Hello, I know you're a huge music fan but I'm curious as to why you mostly stopped listen to new music seemingly after college as it appears to be the opposite approach you take with video games. With the tools apps like Spotify provide there's so much excellent music that can fit your tastes from smaller up and coming artists and they make it so easy by automatically curating discovery playlists for you every week.

Hey Colin! You’ve mentioned the family ornament exchange being a tradition in your family now… what’s the best ornament you’ve seen since doing these exchanges?

Kenneth Koepnick

Do you think the Vita would have had more cross platform launches between PS3/4 and Vita if it had both shoulder buttons? I remember using it in the early days to Remote Play Destiny, but not having both shoulder buttons really made that a bad experience.

Hey Col, I’d love to know why you resumed posting on Twitter as a place to share your thoughts. It seems you’ve flipped from your previous mantra of only using the platform as one for promotion. As a social media skeptic myself, I’m wondering, why the change? It seemed from the outside like you were happy not engaging in the unsavory cocktail of vitriol and miscommunication that is Twitter. Thanks for all that you do.

Hello Mr. Moriarty, What is the most recent example of a time you played a game that was recommended to you? I'd love to endorse a specific game, but I don't want to deter you from giving it a shot. What are you looking for in an elevator pitch for a game recommendation? Thanks for all you do!

Merry Christmas Colin! I'm a business professor and small business owner in Sudbury, Ontario. I've been curious for more details about your in-house merch. I understand that you guys have the inventory in your home and Micah ships it, but wonder about the bigger picture. If you don't mind sharing, could you please outline the LSM merchandise supply chain? Thanks, Prince

A very merry Christmas Colin, With rumours abound with the new Naughty Dog game, what are you hoping to see from it? Thank you for another amazing year of content and wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and happy new year.

Hey, Colin. If you haven’t seen this guy yet, you should absolutely look up starpowerdrummer on YouTube. Crazy talented drummer playing breakbeat stuff. Take care, and Happy Holidays.

Hello Colin, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of Lilymo’s games and appreciate their retro style, but if you were ever given a AAA budget to make whatever game you wanted, what would it be?

OnkiDonkGinkGonk

Colin, thank you for all the good content. On October 28th I had broken my ankle for the second time so I’ve had plenty of time to listen to all the shows. All love from Wisconsin!

Simon Freeman

Hi Colin, assuming you’ve read it, can you compare and contrast Cormac McCarthy’s The Road with The Last of Us parts 1 & 2? Do you have a preference for which post apocalypse you found more interesting and which relationship you found resonated more (the boy and the father vs. Joel and Ellie). Feel free to take this prompt anywhere you want

Merry Christmas chief, Eggnog, half rum half bourbon, or all the way bourbon? Thanks for a great year of content!

Hi Colin! If you were Dustin, what would you say to yourself when you looked in the mirror every morning? Same question about Chris. Happy Holidays ya animal
