It's me, Colin, here with a 'better-late-than-never" episode of Sacred+. This time around, I'm joined by Defining Duke co-host Lord Cognito and Hoeg Law's Rick Hoeg for a discussion surrounding Capcom's quiet summer release Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. Described as a so-called "Kagura Action Strategy" game, Kunitsu-Gami is essentially a fusion of tower defense and RTS with action gameplay, and the result is something quite remarkable. Rooted in the Japanese religion Shinto and with a horror-esque vibe, Path of the Goddess is perhaps 2024's single-most surprising game, in all the right ways. With echoes of Enix's classic early SNES fusion title Actraiser, this exceedingly rare AA Capcom offering is unlike anything you've ever played before, and we wanted to cover it -- even three months after its release -- specifically to draw more attention to a criminally-underplayed adventure.
