Sacred Symbols+, #410 | Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Review Discussion and Spoilercast

Capcom's 2006 zombie-action title Dead Rising was a memorable release, even all these years later. It's especially memorable looking back at it from a modern lens, because it encapsulated so much of what made the mid-aughts tick: Sunny consumerism, violent media, and a press eagerly on their beat. It was also a blast to play, with a Colorado-based mall overrun by an undead outbreak, and a mere photojournalist standing between the story getting out to the wider public or being dangerously hidden. Oh, and it's one of Keiji Inafune's last games at Capcom, too, so there's that! To talk about the newly-released so-called Deluxe Remaster of Dead Rising, I invited Summon Sign host Brad Ellis for a quick-and-breezy chat (by our typical standards) about Frank West's maiden voyage, and to celebrate an ever-resurgent Capcom that seems to be getting better all the time.

I got the platinum under 19 hours. I’m very familiar with Dead Rising. I’ve 100% the game on the 360. When it came to PS4 I put in over 200 hours. On the PS4 I’m missing the infinity mode trophies. I don’t trust the game won’t turn off on me during the 14hrs. In one run I was able to get majority of the trophies. I made a save on day 2 and used that as the model to do the clean up trophies.

I’m the player that Colin is looking for when asking “how are people getting through games this fast”. I am always way faster than How Long To Beat and guides. Some examples: 100% Tales of Arise in 48 hours, Astro Bot in 11 hours, never spent more than 30 hours on a Trails game.

Are you impressed?

Oh My God

Not as extreme as colin was asking for, but witcher 2 has 2 completely different second acts of the game depending on what choices you make, meaning new playthroughs are almost completely different from eachother

This was a good one 💯. Prefer when these spoilercasts deep dive into all the fine details regarding the game itself. The Stellar blade episode was bogged down with industry speculation and internet chatter.

Odd man out here but I loved dead rising 3. Still have my silver case copy.

Great episode. Just a little nitpick correction: there were 2 years between MGS 3 and Dead Rising. 2004 and 2006 respectfully.

I did that 7 Day Survivor achievement back in the day. With a guide, it’s really not that hard. Took 16 hours, just a lot of “go here, grab this, go here, wait, eat, wait, etc.” Biggest fear was the 360 crashing.

Alan Wake 2 - Alan WOKE

I was hoping Matty could've joined since he seemed to have really enjoyed the game, but oh well
