Bouncing on the High C

This was supposed to be a simple session where I threw it in, rendered it, and moved on. I really just wanted to get Miss Fortune into VR for the first time. As usual, I just had to start tinkering and improving where I could to make it a better VR experience.
While the base animation was very smooth, for a short it was extremely repetitive. Then I thought, why not add some variation? So now she actually closes her eyes for a little bit, alternating back and forth. I also removed some clipping, and animated her head move a little more naturally considering how much she is moving.
Next thing you know, I'm playing around with the lighting to match the original, and ended up redoing the background as well to make it fit the scene better. Then I realized the original animation would no longer match the VR, so I re-rendered that too. All in all, what was supposed to be an extra easy, quick scene, ended up taking longer than some others I've worked on recently.
But it's totally worth it to finally get Miss Fortune into the archive.

I probably should have messaged you instead of posting (I didn't see the Message Me in time) I can't explain what it is, but I think CGI is just so much more realistic than reality. I prefer viewing CGI over traditional forms of media. One suggestion for you to consider is the Mixed Reality option. I have been on VR for some time; Go, Quest 2, Quest Pro, Index, and now Quest 3. The green screened CGI videos (most of which are much poorer quality than your product) look great when used with Passthrough (mixed reality). Might be something for you to experiment with. For the most part it would just require second render with a Static (Green/Black) Background.

2024-04-24 17:19:20 +0000 UTCWe are currently working on 2 videos that are longer. One is a premium release that will be available here, just like our last premium release. It's going to be a full 10 minutes with different positions, as WELL as transitions. There will still be fading to black times, but we are hoping to introduce these transitions to stream the viewing experience. We have set a goal of 3 premium a year, but it's currently looking like 2-3 instead. So late spring, early summer? The other one was created by our lead animator, Kaeg, that will be quite lengthy like our old major studio releases, but instead of OC content it involves characters from Baldur's Gate 3. I have yet to fully look at all the sessions involved, but it's going to be at least 4, which means weeks to a month of rendering. So a month or two from now. As you and I already noted, these can take months to setup when they get lengthy. I feel I'm very good at figuring optimal render times for quality but it's still a waiting game, ultimately. I've been thinking about posting works in progress on Patreon like we already do on Discord, and this only confirms my thoughts of doing so. Starting next week, I'll be uploading any WIPS at the beginning of the week to give more transparency on what we're working on, as well as more insight of what goes into the process of making these videos. I know we're leaps and bounds ahead of most CG creators in terms of speed, especially considering we are VR focused, but I also understand that as our supporter you and others want to know what we're working on regardless of speed.

I love your work, especially the longer vids like 'The Longest Shift'. I joined your Patreon in hopes of finding more 'long' videos not just the shorts I already have access too. Having read your posts; re: creating The Longest Shift, I understand the time commitment and that you plan to release longer videos every 4 months or so. Is there a new video about to release? PS - Loved the Cyberpunk vids of Judy
