Today, I (Colin) am joined only by two people: The Dukes, MrMattyPlays and Lord Cognito. The three of us discuss quite a few topics this time around, from the Indiana Jones-to-PS5 saga and Xbox's likely future as a third party to the disastrous commercial response to Sony's Concord and the potential realities behind Jim Ryan's exit. Even minus Chris and Dustin, we keep the run-time respectable, the discussion high-quality, and the mood maybe a little too jovial. We hope you enjoy.

Sure, Alien is the gold standard in analog sci-fi, but even Ridley Scott talks about getting most of his inspiration from that from Star Wars. And Starfield takes it further by giving it more of a hopeful feel reminiscent of the space race l that’s honestly rather unique for sci-fi. If one wanted to call it a ripoff of anything, it more closely resembles 2001, and even then, it’s still very unique from it. Matty sounded like those kids you knew in college that took a semester of Film Appreciation as an elective with that take.

No developer really knows until they try, and that's what Sony is doing right now with GaaS. They are trying... because maybe they can get lucky, too.

2024-09-06 14:10:26 +0000 UTCI'm not a developer, but I think the reason why Sony doesn't just spin off a secondary studio to support TLOU Online(Factions 2) is because those people would have to become intimately familiar with Naughty Dog's game engine. I think that's one of the biggest issues. The people who would take on Factions would have to essentially become Naughty Dog devs in the process. It sucks ass for sure... I'm one of those players who still plays the original Factions. The game is in a bad state with cheaters and exploits ruining the game, but even with that it's still so special. There is something truly unique about Factions. No MP like it.

2024-09-04 14:47:02 +0000 UTCYeah I’m poor as fuck but I love games so I made unwise financial decisions to build a pc, buy a PS5, and buy a steam deck to pair with my switch I bought from my first job a whole 7ish years ago now. But at least I can play any game I want while my switch and ps5 collects dust 95 percent of the time

They are doing a balancing act with trying to go purely 3rd party without pissing off the people they've been hyping up about exclusivity for the last 10 years. They need to just rip the band aid off already. People are going to be pissed about it no matter how they do it.
