Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 3: Fact or Fiction? (VIDEO SCRIPT)

(sighs)

___________

Readers, I’m not gonna lie; all the recent news and reactions to all things Spider-Man have me exhausted.

First it was seeing a wave of 30+ year olds scream out death threats to multiple individuals on the internet because they have opinions on what a remastered white teenager should look like

/Then in a surprise move, the third Spider-Man solo movie for the MCU revealed that not only will the villain Electro be in the story, but that -- Jamie Foxx -- the actor who portrayed him in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will be reprising the role./

And at the point of me seeing this bit of information, I pretty much became that “Among Us” meme that’s been going around lately:

Oh no! (Pauses) Anyway...

So in case you haven’t realized from my multiple videos I made in the past, I’m not a fan of The Amazing Spider-Man movies.

I’m also not a fan of how Jamie Foxx handled Electro, mostly because I’m not a fan of Jamie Foxx

If I find the plot of a film more intriguing than the fact that he is in the movie, then I will watch it, but other than that I avoid Jamie Foxx like the plague. (pauses) THIS plague; I-I didn’t exist to experience the others.

Now that’s not to say that he won’t do better THIS time around, especially since the first time he played the role he was a version of the character that was more inspired by the Ultimate Spider-Man comics

More than likely, they’re treating Jamie Foxx’s return to the role the way they’re treating JK Simmons’s return to the role of J. Jonah Jameson as we’ve seen in the mid-credit scene of Spider-Man Far From Home, providing a new take for the character thanks to them being in a different universe

And while that would be the most LOGICAL conclusion regarding the casting news, especially after seeing how it played out in the past solo Spidey movie with JK Simmons, that didn’t stop people from once again stating this move as proof that a live-action Spider-Verse movie was on the way

So much so to the point where after the Jamie Foxx info came out, online “news sources” that always claim that their sources are someone either in the studio or in the production started to “leak” even more stuff regarding how the third solo MCU Spidey movie is gonna be a Spider-Verse one

/And now that it’s confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange will be in the movie, everyone’s running with the fact that THIS is the proof that the third movie is a Spider-Verse movie/

When they were JUST SAYING THAT WEEKS AGO ABOUT JAMIE FOXX

Now normally, I wouldn’t have a problem with this. As I’ve stated in videos reporting on movie rumors in the past, speculation and discussing speculation is absolutely fine.

But when said speculation has grown to the point where it’s starting to be perceived and/or entertained as fact without any reliable sources to back it up -- especially when there's proof and reliable sources backing up something that’s more than likely true -- I start having a problem

And according to the multiple videos made and articles being written on the subject stating that this casting is proof that a live action Spider-Verse movie is happening, both within the first couple of days of Jamie Foxx’s recast announcement and AGAIN with the announcement of Doctor Strange’s involvement

I’m gonna need to start a GoFundMe for a leg operation, because at this point, I can’t STAND yall Spider-Stans

So let me help separate fact and fiction regarding what’s going on with the third MCU Spider-Man movie

Fact: Jamie Foxx is coming back as Electro in the movie.

/And according to a statement he made on his now deleted instagram post confirming his return, it also confirmed that this version of the character -- and I quote -- won’t be blue in this one./

This immediately told me -- a rational human being that does research of his own and mainly takes into account information from accredited sources -- that, thankfully, this isn’t the Ultimate version of the character that he played in Amazing Spider-Man 2

Like I stated before, they’re more than likely doing with him what they did with JK Simmons’ J Jonah Jameson at the end of Far From Home. Same character and actor, different take

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are coming back to guest star and/or cameo in the film? FICTION

There is nothing concrete about this bit of information.

An article was written about this by “We Got This Covered” -- which, let me just say, they rarely ever do -- citing a “studio insider” named Mikey Sutton who apparently got hip to the idea that Tobey and Andrew would be coming back to play their respective versions of Peter Parker for Spider-Man 3.

Articles on both his own website and We Got This Covered posted blogs and articles about this so-called “scoop” respectively DAYS after the Jamie Foxx announcement.

So first things first: When Jamie Foxx confirmed that he was coming back as Electro on Instagram after Hollywood Reporter published their exclusive on the news, the post was taken down. Almost immediately. More than likely because Sony and Marvel didn’t approve of the way he presented the news. More on that later.

So with something as big as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield being in talks to be in the third solo MCU Spidey movie, don’t you think they’d do the same with Mike and We Got This Covered?

Because if we’re being real here, we have to take into consideration the risk Mike is taking by leaking this information if it were true

He’d be hit with NDA’s if they trusted him with this info. He’d be hit with Cease and Desists if he stumbled upon it and posted it like he did once they got word of it. But they haven’t. Which tells us that either they don’t care, or that it’s not real

And considering how many times they tried and failed to keep Tom Holland’s mouth shut about Spider-Man spoilers, it’s pretty clear that they care about news like this leaking out!

Fact: Doctor Strange will be in the third Spider-Man movie. This being proof that it confirms Spider-Verse? FICTION

/The only thing we know about Doctor Strange’s involvement in the new movie is that he’s going to be Peter Parker’s new father/mentor figure now that Tony Stark has gone the way of Uncle Ben/

Now, I understand why people WOULD come to that conclusion, but things still wouldn’t add up considering everything we know about the sequel to Doctor Strange and how it proceeds WandaVision.

If Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness happened BEFORE the events of the third MCU Spider-Man movie, it could be a lot easier to use the events of Multiverse of Madness to justify a Spider-Verse event that Doctor Strange would need to help Peter out with.

But then you have to consider that the third Spider-Man movie is now being released 4 months after the second Doctor Strange movie, taking its originally adjusted release date of November 2021 thanks to the current health and safety crisis, and causing Doctor Strange to take the release date of March 25 2022 instead.

/People who are saying Doctor Strange’s involvement confirms Spider-Verse either didn’t take that into consideration, fail to realize that Doctor Strange’s involvement in something unrelated to him doesn’t immediately mean it’s a multiverse story, or both./

And Fact: The reason why talks of Spider-Verse began to rear its head in the first place...

/Is because Jamie Foxx included fan art of three Spider-Men looking at a portal in the sky with an evil gaze in his likeness staring them down in his instagram post revealing the news about his return to the role of Electro/

Nothing concrete. Nothing official outside news of his return. Just an actor reposting fanart, which apparently is ALL that it takes.

Readers, am I saying that a live-action Spider-Verse movie isn’t happening? Of course not! But if we’re going to move past the point of speculation, we have to acknowledge the facts that are presented to us.

Yes, Kevin Feige said that Spider-Man is one of the only characters that is currently able to transfer between universes right now due to the fact that Sony is still holding on to the film rights of all of the characters associated with him. But we already know how that’s being handled!

Sony has made it clear -- especially with the trailer for Morbius -- that they plan to ride on the coattails of Marvel Studios’s success by forming Spider-Man franchises of their own that’s adjacent to the MCU that they can easily transfer Tom Holland’s version of the character to once the inevitable impasse between Disney and Sony arrives.

And because the events of the solo Spidey movies are owned by Sony -- even the up-and-coming 3rd one -- they could still build off of the events of said movies even though they take place in the MCU

Sony’s live-action Spider-Man related franchises like Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Silk are to the MCU, as Remora fish are to sharks

And no, I’m not going to explain what Remora fish are. Search R-E-M-O-R-A on Google Images, and you’ll see EXACTLY what I’m talking about

If you’ve been paying attention to how Sony has been handling their live-action Spider-Man properties, then you would know that this has been their strategy ever since my fellow monster-fuckers allowed the Venom movie to be profitable. I’m still disappointed in y’all, by the way

You also have to couple this with the fact that despite the solo Spidey movies being part of the MCU, they are still made and owned by Sony.

Even with the new deal that was put in place to keep him in the MCU, outside of Kevin Feige co-producing the films, Marvel Studios only acts as a story consultant so that whatever Sony does can easily fit into whatever Phase of the MCU the movie takes place in.

To try and tackle a live-action Spider-Verse movie when they already have a successful animated Spider-Verse movie to build off of -- especially since Marvel Studios is ALREADY going to explore comic multiverse theory in the Doctor Strange sequel -- when the only ACTUAL basis the argument has on its side is that a certain actor is returning to a role they previously played and a certain character has been confirmed to star alongside Peter Parker, just sounds like its a bit of a stretch

And there are so many quote unquote “news sources” and YouTubers -- 30% of them I have on good authority are the living embodiment of trash -- that are running with this angle for nothing but clicks, just to try and get your hopes up.

Get your news from reliable sources, do your own research BASED on said sources, and if that doesn’t work, just...ju-just wait for a damn trailer

This video was supposed to come out a week ago. But I only got 1-3rd of the script done before my mental health was like, “You know...we need to stop...”

But, I digress, Readers. Your homework assignment for the day:

Write in the comment section below who YOU’RE more excited to see in the third MCU Spider-Man movie: Electro or Doctor Strange!

Or, if you feel like sharing with the rest of the class, the moment you just felt the need to just throw a whole-ass fandom away. Just start over with people that...that are GOOD.

Whichever you decide to answer, I’d love to know your thoughts!
