Should Quentin Tarantino Make Kill Bill Vol. 3? (VIDEO SCRIPT)

Yes, I know you want me to whistle the theme. Trust me, I TOO want to whistle the theme.

But if I do, knowing my luck I’ll whistle it TOO good, make the bots think it’s the ACTUAL SONG, and get copyright struck

Because we live...in a society...

_______

Readers, I’m not gonna lie; I’ve been on the “Kill Bill Volume 3” bandwagon pretty much since Quentin Tarantino first entertained the idea

Of course there’s the plot of Vernita Green’s daughter wanting revenge on Beatrix Kiddo for killing her mom in Volume 1; that would clearly be the plot

But Quentin didn’t really confirm that he was actually entertaining the idea until he attended the Morelia International Film Festival in 2009 promoting Inglorious Basterds, where he was asked if he would ever do any sequels to his previous works

(clip)

I hope you appreciate that clip, Readers, because despite 20 year old me watching this clip back when it was brand new, it took me TWO HOURS to find it again for this video.

I don’t know who tried to bury this clip under so much red tape and “unavailable to watch in your country” shit, but I commend them. Because you almost made me give up searching for the bitch; I’m not even gonna lie.

Now since then, talk has been on and off about the project. Especially since the rumors started circulating that Tarantino had a 10 movie plan for his career as a director and that it had some truth to it.

But one of the things that truly had us doubting it Kill Bill Volume 3 -- and maybe 4 if we’re assuming he’d split the sequel into two features like the original Kill Bill --

/Was the expose Kill Bill star and long-running collaborator of Tarantino Uma Thurman released with the New York Times February of 2018, in which she came forth with her testimony regarding her experience with Harvey Weinstein once all of the sexual assault allegations began unfurl./ https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/03/opinion/sunday/this-is-why-uma-thurman-is-angry.html

This played a factor for two reasons:

1 - Harvey Weinstein was the owner of Miramax at the time, which was pretty much the main producer and distributor for Quentin Tarantino’s work.

2 - The infamous car crash that happened on the set of Kill Bill Vol. 2 that almost ruined Q & U’s friendship and professional relationship

It was revealed in the same New York Times piece that the footage of the crash took 15 years for her to get a hold of, due to Weinstein’s meddling. Part of the reason why it took so long was because in order for her to see it, Miramax wanted her to sign a document that would -- to quote Uma herself in the article --

/release them of any consequences of future pain and suffering./ Uma Thurman - New York Times

Now, I want to be clear here. I do not disbelieve a single word Uma Thurman said in this article. Not about Harvey Weinstein and not about Quentin Tarantino.

It was actually this piece and seeing the footage of the crash that made me initially think that Q and U had severed ties once and for all, finding out it happened around the same time Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were cast in his latest film, “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.”

Then I read Quentin Tarantino’s interview with Deadline regarding the crash

/Revealing that he knew Uma Thurman was having the piece done, worked with her to find the footage in order to avoid signing Miramax’s legal documentation despite it taking 15 years of searching, explaining that he was never as rude or demanding as the piece made him out to be regarding the situation, and actually test-drove the road himself to make sure she could do it/ https://deadline.com/2018/02/quentin-tarantino-uma-thurman-harvey-weinstein-kill-bill-car-crash-new-york-times-1202278988/

However, the one piece of Quentin’s testimonial that stood out to me were the people that Uma wanted to indict regarding the crash and Miramax’s cover up.

/Apparently, in an attempt to help her stick it to Weinstein and everyone involved in the cover-up of the crash, Tarantino also agreed to do a piece with Maureen Dowd -- the reporter who worked on Thurman’s article -- in order to deliver the info and the names of the individuals responsible for the cover-up. Not only did they never have a chance to meet, but because the individuals responsible were protected by bureaucratic red tape and couldn’t be mentioned in Uma Thurman’s piece, Tarantino was molded in the article to be an antagonist alongside Harvey Weinstein and Miramax/ Quentin Tarantino - Deadline

And I’m not gonna lie; I found myself re-reading Maureen Dowd’s New York Times article on Uma Thurman again after reading Tarantino’s confessional, taking into consideration what was stated

And like I stated before, I believe every word that came out of Uma Thurman’s mouth regarding Weinstein and Miramax

I also believe that despite Tarantino’s attempts to make it right that the two got into some heated debates about how the situation went on the set of Kill Bill Vol. 2

So heated that for a minute, I thought any chance of them repairing either their friendship or their professional relationship was pretty much off the table, which in turn would eliminate the possibility of Kill Bill volume 3 or 4

Then on Monday July 22nd, 2019, in promoting “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” Quentin Tarantino revealed this on the Happy Sad Confused podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz

(Podcast Clip)

Now I don’t know about you Readers, but that small segment told me a LOT

Not only did it tell me that there’s a merit of truth in both Maureen Dowd’s piece on Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino’s interview

But it told me that despite everything that happened regarding the Volume 2 crash, Miramax’s attempt at covering it up, and whatever feud the two of them had because of it, Q & U are still speaking with each other and on terms good enough to still regularly entertain the idea of doing a sequel to Kill Bill

Especially since according to it, Quentin spoke with Uma a week before the recording of the podcast

/which according to how Horowitz updates his audience on Twitter regarding when he’s recording a new episode, suggests that those talks happened the week of or immediately before VidCon 2019 at the latest/ Josh Horowitz - Quentin Tarantino Tweet

So it looks like as far as Q and U once again being a creative team, and possibly friends, the possibility of us getting a sequel to Kill Bill is definitely higher than it was when the New York Times piece came out

But with everything that’s happened to get to this point, I can’t help but to ask myself...Is it even worth it now?

As a matter of fact, that’s your homework assignment for the day, Readers.

Write in the comment section below whether or not you think Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman should make a sequel to Kill Bill despite everything they went through these past few years.

Regardless of your reasoning, I’d love to know your thoughts.
