Spider-Man: Far From Home Spoiler-Talk (VIDEO SCRIPT)

Heads up, Readers. This Readus Relives contains spoilers for Spider-Man Far From Home

So if you haven’t clicked away from this video yet, that tells me one of three things.

One - You’ve already seen Far From Home

Two - You HAVEN’T seen Far From Home yet, but don’t care about spoilers

And Three - I dunno, you believe in witches or something...

But yes, Readers. There are a lot of things that I wanted to talk about and expand upon in my review of Spider-Man Far From Home, that I couldn’t. But now we’re here...

So, first of all, I should’ve expected that the elementals were holograms; I REALLY should’ve put two and two together the moment it was announced that Mysterio was in this bitch

And I know a lot of people called it, and I would usually be one of those people. But it’s kinda hard to do that when you’re dealing with enemies that pre-existed in the comics

Like the most I figured was that Mysterio and the elementals were working together and that they were putting on a show. I didn’t know that it was gonna be him and a bunch of other people mad at Tony Stark...again.

That’s the one thing I noticed about Homecoming and Far From Home. Between Vulture and Mysterio, Spidey’s rogues gallery only exist because of Tony Stark

Albeit, Vulture’s reasoning is less selfish and more impactful in my opinion, which is why I feel that Homecoming still has the stronger narrative

But still, that...That Mysterio illusion sequence. It was...It was just...(just right precision fingers)

Like, that’s the shit I was talking about in my top five favorite Spidey villains vid! You have no idea how wide the grin on my face was watching him put Peter through that! That shit was amazing!

And yeah, that was the part of my review where I mentioned that considering the circumstances, it looked like the movie -- and even the MCU -- was replacing Uncle Ben with Tony Stark?

I mean, Mysterio doesn’t know who Uncle Ben was; he wouldn’t know to put “Here Lies Ben Parker” on the tombstone. He had to work with what he had.

Like, if this was the Scarecrow gas from Batman’s rogues gallery, then yes; that would’ve probably been there. Shit. Even if Mephisto was doing it, keeping it Marvel

But the way Mysterio said - and I’m paraphrasing - “maybe if you were better, he’d still be alive,” it sounded like it should’ve been about Ben, because he could’ve ACTUALLY DONE something about that. Not about Tony making a sane-ass decision to use the Infinity Stones.

But like I said before, it was a nitpick. And considering that was like...the ONLY nitpick I had with the movie, that says a lot.

Now. Let’s talk about the end credit scenes.

So MY theater cheered when it was revealed that JK Simmons was back as J Jonah Jameson during the mid-credit scene. Did yours?

I also find it interesting that they’re going the route of the PS4 game with The Daily Bugle by making it Info Wars Adjacent, especially considering that in the comics, there are DECENT people working for the Bugle. Some who care about actual journalism!

Speaking of which, in regards to the whole “Spider-Man is Peter Parker” reveal, I’m both intrigued and in my feelings about it.

I’m intrigued, because it both opens up and eliminates a LOT of possibilities for Peter in his next solo film and maybe even an event film?

I’m also in my feelings about it, because c’mon, dude, really? You gonna Deadman Wonderland the motherfucker on his second movie?

AND you gotta expose his secret identity? Why is this always the route people take when it comes to Spider-Man?

Anyway, turns out the reason why Nick Fury was so trusting of Mysterio was because it WASN’T Nick Fury. It was the Skrull Talos impersonating Nick Fury, while he’s out in space with the other Skrull refugees from Captain Marvel building SWORD, I think?

Now you see why all of this feels more like the beginning of Phase 4 than the end of Phase 3; all Far From Home is doing in regards to the MCU as a whole.

Both the story and the plot twists emphasise on using the foundation of the previous movies to build brand new paths that are beginning to branch off in various ways

I mean, I’m interested in seeing where they go with it since Secret Invasion is pretty much off the table as far as possible arcs are concerned. And so far, there doesn’t look like there’s any truth to that Norman Osborne Dark Avengers arc

But yeah. If anything, Spider-Man Far From Home was less of an epilogue for Phase 3 and more of a Chapter 1 for Phase 4

Still enjoyable, though. I’d pay to see it again.
