Private Security
- So in the first few minutes of this episode we get an idea of where everyone is after the Markovia mission. /Halo is staying with Artemis and Will, who are clearly just roommates, Prince Brion is staying with Superboy and Miss Martian, and Dr. Jace is staying in Trump Tower/
- Tell me I’m wrong.
- However, while the last three episodes proved they were centered around getting the ball rolling on the Metahuman/Outisders arc, it’s clear this episode is “filled with enough character development so that we can kinda forgive the amount of filler in it.”
- /I say that because Dick recruits Jim, Roy and Will Harper to try and stop a metahuman trafficking location, but in return has to work a job for Will’s private security company with him/
- And yes, both the name of the company and its slogan are bow and arrow puns. And no, I’m not going to repeat it because Fuck You.
- /Meanwhile, Artemis and Halo are hanging out and we learn that after she brought herself back to life the first time, her memory regarding who she was before that was a bit blurry; she has no idea who she is outside of random flashbacks that random things she sees remind her of./
- And while I say that half of this is filler and the other half is character development is because while the majority of Dick’s story in this episode is he and the Harper boys fighting Brick and his thugs, it’s also a bit of a small moment of development for him at this time as well
- Because it’s revealed while he was truly seeking Will’s help in finding the trafficking spot, he subconsciously sought out Will to have him talk some sense into Dick about the lone wolf attitude he adapted since the end of Season 2, and it’s done pretty nicely
- /Artemis and Halo on the other hand hav- (DR FATE APPEARS AND I’M SPEECHLESS AND EXCITED) HOLY SHIT IT’S DOCTOR FATE, BITCH; YES!/
- Okay. Okay, let me calm down. (Whooo)
- /You see, while they’re there, they have Dr. Fate take a look at Halo magically and we find out that there’s an old soul inside of her body/
- Which is pretty much what every one of my mom’s church friends said about me growing up
- /But also just as important, we find out that Dr. Fate’s current canonical host is Zatara, Zatanna’s father, and that Nabu agreed for them to spend 1 hour together PER YEAR, and that Artemis was there to provide comfort once that hour was up and Dr. Fate left. The segment was actually pretty good for Halo character development-wise, because it gave her an outlet to better show us her level of empathy./
- Which considering how we find out how her powers work in the next episode, will definitely help play a factor in better understanding her personality.
Away Mission
- In this one, we find out that some bullshit is happening on New Genesis. /Orion is being uncharacteristically hostile to the bug people on the ground, and Bear asks members of the team for help after being told of the situation. Meanwhile Dick and Conner stay on Earth and try to help Brion and Halo get a better understanding of their abilities. Plus, the two kick it off pretty nicely/
- “I feel the need to fix you” - LAUGHS
- So Miss Martian recruits a lot of the younger members of Young Justice to go along, like Static, Kid Flash, Blue Beetle and Wonder Girl /and meets the bug person that contacted Bear and told him about the situation, Forager
- (Sees an image of him) I MUST PROTECT HIM
- /And it’s during this conflict we find out that OF COURSE it’s not Orion, but her white martian brother shapeshifted as Orion, in the possession of two metakids no less, trying to start a war between the bug people and the New Gods/ because of a weird mixture of incel-ism and Killmonger-esque extremist ideology?
- Meanwhile, we find out that Halo is pretty much a living mood ring, and that she distributes different powers depending on the color of her aura, which so far have been revealed to be red, yellow and violet.
- /Red throws up the shields, yellow delivers blasts, orange gives flight, and violet regenerates/
- Only three more colors, and she’ll have the entire emotional spectrum under her control. Don’t tell Sinestro, though.
- /Meanwhile, Miss Martian is in a game of mental chess with her brother, and let me tell you, she clearly won that match, bitch.
- But because you know he escapes, he doesn’t do so without applying some irreversible damage
- /First he kills the metahumans by saying a phrase that causes them to get Suicide Squaded before phasing through the PLANET THO???/
- And also because the leader of the hive of bug people is so fucking stubborn and refuses to have shit explained to him even when the explanation makes logical sense, /not only does he and his hive now hate the New Gods, Earthlings, AND Martians, but because he brought both Bear and the team to New Genesis, he flat out banished my sweet boy for just trying to fucking help!/
- /(Where will I go?) TAKE HIM IN! TAKE HIM IN! (You can come with us) YAAAS!
- So yeah; while this episode had a bit more story progression as opposed to filler, what filled in the gaps to the main plot of the episode was getting an idea of Halo and Brion.
- And while Episode 4 gave us a better look at Halo’s empathy, Episode 6 is gonna give us a better look at Brion’s...everything else
- Mostly his rage, but everything else
Rescue Op
- So before I get into anything heavy, let’s start this summary off right
- /(Dick and Barbara kissing) YAAS, BITCH! <3/
- Alright. So Killing Joke clearly happened, BUT DICK AND BARBARA ARE STILL A PAIR, BITCH; YES!
- Okay. Moving on: /Getting back from New Genesis, Miss Martian introduces Dick, Connor, Brion and Halo to my sweet precious boy Forager, and they all just immediately hit it off./
- However, that’s also when we learn that information revealed itself showing that not only did Brion’s uncle ship off his sister after revealing her metagene, but that Ra’s Al Ghul could be in possession of her
- Can you guess the next sequence of events? Next question: Do I even have to explain them?
- Good. That means I can fast forward.
- /So after sneaking off on the super-bike, Halo, Brion and Forager arrive at the League of Shadows and “In Brion’s arrogance,” proceeds to get they’re asses handed to them by Sensei./
- /(shows Halo’s neck get snapped) She’ll be fine./
- Once they’re captured and the surviving two wake up with those metahuman control chips on the back of their necks, Sensei tosses Halo’s body in the cell as a reminder of Brion’s hot-headedness
- /(Halo revives) See? Told you./
- That’s when Nightwing, Tigress, Superboy and Black Lightning arrive to free them, and eliminate the control chips before they had a chance to activate.
- And they almost get a way too, /until they’re approached by Ra’s himself...voiced by my mans Oded Muthafuckin Fehr!/
- That’s when we get some very important information, such as...Brion’s sister IS owned by the League of Shadows, but he’s no longer the leader, nor is he a member of the Light anymore
- /And he lets them all leave with their lives, because if anything, Ra’s is fair. (Ninja Scene) HOLY SHIT, IS THAT JASON?? (Talia Scene) AND BABY DAMIEN, BITCH??/
- (Stares at screen, then at camera) BRUH...
