Also, I'm pretty sure Rudo fully believed that he died from that attack, so that was enough for Rudo to want to make sure the talisman did not go to waste. The sentimental value is what made it so OP though since Rudo had a firm idea of what power a vital instrument like that would have.

If someone was being used, they were like a henchmen or hired killer and they were thrown out/killed near death/abandoned like villians often do them. They could be brought out technically.
