Friendship with a loved one shelters you from the real world, but teachings from a loved one always helps you in real world. This is also the difference between Kaori's Love and Tsubaki's(jock friend) Love for Arima. Kaori taught him to face his trauma head-on, but Tsubaki sheltered him from it. Both of their actions came from the place of love but had a vastly different impact on Arima.
