2025-07-30 09:06:58 +0000 UTCA major thematic thrust of the series though is how "Hikaru" is still fundamentally not the original Hikaru, and thus "Hikaru"'s feelings for Yoshiki are also independent of any memories he gained from the original. Like we see that "Hikaru" likes different thing than what the original liked, the new "Hikaru" likes films the old one didn't and is much more interested in cats than the original Hikaru.

Kinda crazy to just believe Hikaru is straight because he might have looked at a thicc tree when the whole narrative is that "Hikaru" has feeling for Yoshiki because he took the emotions and memories of the body and Yoshiki is attached to him even though that's not old Hikaru because it's a part of himself he doesn't feel comfortable leaving. He allowed him to be his true self, and now this new Hikaru is even more supportive of that!

But eventually the person he cared about the most was still Yoshiki 😌 and there’s a chapter in the manga, Hikaru was reaching out to “Hikaru” and said “tell him that I like him” before he died. This story is not BL story, doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings for each other

2025-07-29 18:29:58 +0000 UTCHikaru's death is such a good mix of silly comic relief and a genuinely awful way to die. It's such a simple tragedy, sometimes just slipping is all it takes! The Christian cross scene as well I've seen some people interpret it... interestingly. Personally, that scene to me demonstrates that Yoshiki is sternly reminded he has to deal with the reality of where he lives. He's still a highschooler and has to endure living in a region that has conservative views for at LEAST a few more years, whether they're Christian or not. PLUS word travels so quick that even people from the village over know his family's business, imagine if he tried to come out, everyone in the tri-state area knows you're gay AND thinks you're a freak? Fuck that 😭
