In their circumstances, information not obtained by their Imperial jailers could be seen as an act of resistance, defiance, stepping out of line. Plus, at this point, Kino is in denial/has cognitive dissonance. He’s freaking out because what his fellow prisoners are doing might fuck up his chance to get out, so he’s acting that way to try to make everyone shut up and keep their asses in line. But of course, it’s later revealed that there is no getting out, and he finally realizes that and thankfully undergoes a shift.

I especially love how they almost always have Mon Mothma wearing asymmetric gowns - like she's showing parts of herself and concealing others, or like she's at odds with her lavish lifestyle. She's a part of the upper class but doesn't fit at the same time. It's brilliant.
