That was why he was holding e-soul lookalike competitions. I don't think he believed in Yang Cheng at first, but after seeing what he was capable of and how broken he was after Sheng Chao's death, he decided to manipulate Yang Cheng. Yang Cheng has 0 trust value growing up, so he'd cling to his new identity the hardest. This made Yang Cheng really easy to manipulate, and therefore, the perfect corporate puppet e-soul for Uncle Rock

I think a lot of this show is going to be exposing the power system to the world on one side and the other side is using it to there advantage IE the position difference on Nice to ESoul. Super similar up bringing's but completely different outcomes.
