2025-03-27 23:09:15 +0000 UTCMaybe its just me, but if i am to draw a parallel, this season is somewhat what became of guts in berserk after he started having his own "band of the hawk". Before when he was on his own, the chapters had a different vibe and depth, where he had to deal with everything on his own, ending in brutal and edgy scenarios. (ex. the fairy apostle). Now Subaru has friends he can rely on and not depend as much on return by death to solve different scenarios and reach the happy ending he envisions. Personally, I liked this season, not as much as before, but because i am learning more about the world itself, background of different characters, the subtle hints that lead to many more questions, like for ex. who is Wrath, who is Al, why is the witch hidden underneath the city actually the previous witch of Pride met at the Tea Party, why does Felt have a staff that was hinted by Beatrice to be Echidna's staff, why is the estate and dishes owned by Anastasia in ep. 1 japanese style, Pandora pulling the strings behind the scene and the list goes on. Also, the last 2 episodes with the 3 gluttonies, the translations were god awful, they actually fked up how to discern the abilities of the gluttonies and some of the names which were actually relevant if u look into it.

Eating a name makes everyone forget you,eating your memories makes you forget who you are and having both eaten causes you to go into a coma. As we now see Rem had both her name and memories eaten,Crusch had just her memories eaten and finally Julius had his name eaten. We also see that Julius's younger brother had his name eaten as well which caused there to be a gap in Julius's memories.

Which she isn't. She was born with a defective gate, meaning her gate can't process mana and transform it to magic. it's similar to Subaru's affliction, only he consciously broke his gate through overuse. Subaru is able to use magic because of his contract with Beatrice as something of a vessel for mana. To Al, this means that can't be Anastasia. But it couldn't be Capella either. that's all I feel like I can say without crossing technical-spoiler territory

2025-03-27 19:08:53 +0000 UTCremember how when rem was wiped from existence by the white whale, all of her achievements were as well? as in, the mabeast fight in arc 2 was a joint collaboration between Subaru and Ram alone, rather than having anything to do with Rem. and not to mention, anything that was hers or was attributed to her, such as her room, was erased from existence as well, and replaced as if it was never there. these were both confirmed when Subaru met ram in arc 3 after being brought back to the mansion by the village children during one of the loops. Putting all this together, I feel like its easier to think about it like this: when a name is eaten, it erases the proof of the person's existence outside of themselves. when their memories are eaten, it removes proof of their existence within themselves.

As always click "Read more" to have your screen filled with nerdy ramblings🗣💯 Felt: The Gluttony siblings do get a very bad stomach ache whenever they "eat" a name that isn't the person's parent-given name. Not saying anything here, but keep in mind that Felt was capable of joining the royal selection, meaning she was either of royal blood or the dragon deemed her worthy of the throne (and if you read the EX volume 1 novel at all, which isnt a spoiler, you'd know royal family members are characterized appearance-wise by their golden hair, a fang, and crimson eyes). We know all the royal family members died due to an illness that wiped them out, but we also know that before that happened there was a kidnapping of a royal family member that went unresolved just before the deaths of the royals. And none of this is a spoiler because the topic of Felt's identity has not been touched since this moment in the light novel✌️ :3 Rui Arneb: Rui is one of the Three Gluttony's. There is Rui (Satiation), the blond little sister, Lye (Gourmet), the eye-covering 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 big brother, and finally Roy (Bizzare Eating), The ponytail-havin' momma's boy (he has a weird relationship with Capella after she turned him into a fly and transfigured him back, causing him to become extremely obedient and dependent on her, calling her "mama"). Rui used either a skill or wind magic to skin Dynas and Otto's legs. She had taken control of Lye's body once he was unconscious in order to take him away, though for the life of me I cannot remember why the hell the One Piece Okama/Average Jojo Villain transformation was necessary. Tappei, the author, said on twitter about it: "The supposedly defeated Gluttony has been transformed into a big gay character! what is the reality of this phenomenon?!" which like aight someone give my author his meds 😭 Garfiel: I have nothing to say rly I just really love this dude's character arc this,,, arc. like he was seriously the MVP when I read the light novel and White Fox did him justice i feel. Sirius: "None of the archbishops like each other" is a fair assumption. There are some exceptions, but their objectives never align except for when they follow the gospel. The gospel is absolute, and bigger than their sins or authority or identity. They follow the gospel which leads them down their "best possible future" and use their authority for their own selfish reasons as well. Betelgeuse was the one archbishop fully devoted to bringing the witch back, but that was also his own selfish ambition, because he idolized her existence and it's not what the witch even wants. That's what Sirius means when she says everything she does is for Betelgeuse. Because it really is. She sings terribly, which is symbolic of how in reality, she's a psychopath who has no idea how understandings are made between people, or how love blooms. Easy agitation and malice and frustration won't ever lead to positive communication- patience will. Its why she could never make betelgeuse understand her love/fall under her authority. And, if the theories are right (its the worst kept secret in Re:zero atp), it's an almost tragic reflection of how Fortuna never could get her feelings across to Geuse, not because she was impatient like Sirius, but because she waited too long. Fortuna and Geuse were a tragic love story of two virtuous and pure souls damned by the cult. RAHHHHHH!!👹👹👹 if you've reached this point, I'd like to give a technical spoiler warning? it's stuff that was cut from the adaptation of this arc and will probably be in season 4's first episode as a flashback, so they would've already happened during the events of this episode, but just wasn't shown, or was altered. If you're interested in being in the loop, read on! If you wanna experience the anime completely blind however, disregard the rest! Subaru: Subaru has a unique ability along with Return by Death, which seems to be the ability to absorb multiple witch factors at once. Normally, when all character with a witch factor is killed, the person who kills them receives it, or if there were multiple killers, it goes to whoever has the stronger affinity for the factor. Subaru has a strong affinity for witch factors already, and has a unique ability to hold more than one witch factor, and for most people, absorbing one alone would be too much for their soul to bear, like we saw in Geuse's case. Subaru killed Betelgeuse, and absorbed his Witch factor of Sloth, and in season 2, Echidna had essentially been grooming Subaru in order to be able to adjust to the witch factors of Sloth and Greed. After he adjusted enough to it, the witch factor bore fruit in the form of an authority, that being Invisible Providence (Unseen hand: Subaru edition). Then, in just the next arc, Subaru kills Regulus... yeah Echidna, not suspicious at all... (or maybe the strengthening of the greed witch factor was just so that he could do the stuff with the Ryuzu clones in season 2 and remember Echidna and I'm just overtheorizing lollll anyway...) The Solution to Lust/Gluttony's Effects: The conversation with everyone in the city hall about how to save the victims of Gluttony and Lust had gone about the same in the light novel, with the exception of a couple things: Felt was initially against keeping Sirius alive, though she cares about Reinhard, so she's a real ride or die fr. Subaru's memory of Gluttony victims is what lead him to taking the lead in the conversation, as well as his king von levels of hatred towards the cult. Lust was a whole other issue, but Gluttony was a feasible thing to go after, and Anastasia Mentioned the idea of going to see the Great Sage, Shaula for knowledge. This is omitted in the anime, along with another extremely important scene, but I feel these two scenes will be flashback-exposition-dump'd during ep 1 of season 4. You'd think they'd leave that part in as like, cliffhanger stuff but meh it's all good. Ricardo and Julius: The scene i was looking forward to all season, and it was adapted completely differently from the novel LMAOO😭. But i don't hate it at all. Unlike a lot of other greedy ass Re:zero fans i see the anime as it's own project and I think it's how It should be viewed- a passion project of sorts. In the novel, The results of Julius and Ricardo's fight with Gluttony are revealed BEFORE the meeting, and they are present at the meeting and, surprise, a lot of very awkward and despairing dialogue ensues between a man and his colleagues who have all forgotten him. In the anime, they use a running anime-only trend White Fox has been using this season in Re:Zero, which is the communication of ideas through facial expressions. We saw it before, when Subaru said Emilia's name in a serious, yet calming tone during the fight with Regulus when she was about to have Subaru cut her down. She knew from his voice alone that it'd be okay, which is an anime-only way of conveying a canon trait between them, but also their general relationship quirks. Emilia smiles, calming Subaru, then Subaru looks at Julius, which startles him and makes him feel like something really is wrong, then Emilia looks at Subaru and sees he's not smiling, and feels off as well. I love these small special things that White Fox does, like with the symbolism of eyes within the anime. In the light novel, on the other hand, Anastasia is tending to Ricardo after he lost his arm and wasn't able to retrieve it to reconnect it using healing magic. Julius was the one who brought him to Anastasia, but they left him behind and didn't consider his health, which caused him to run off alone. Subaru spotted him and reached out, trying to banter like they usually do. Then, Julius is surprised yet relieved when Subaru calls his name. Emilia and Beatrice are both with him, and say something equally cold for Julius to hear from acquaintances. Subaru relives an old trauma of seeing someone be forgotten, but in a more twisted way, where they have to experience it. Juli, the Nameless Knight: Julius' extensive and very personal relationship with Reinhard and Ferris was cut off, and he lost his title as The Finest Knight, literally a shadow of his former glory, with no name attached to his face. To me, he's a play on the idea that Chivalry is a dead art, and that gets elaborated on in the future. Not to mention, the woman he dedicated his life to serve has forgotten him. All he has left is the sword on his side, and a reckless ally that he's unsure if he can call a friend. A little after the meeting, I believe, Subaru and Julius talk where Julius asks him, depressed, "Which do you think is a worse fate, having the world forget you, or forgetting the world?" to which Subaru replies in anger of having been asked such a dumb question. He criticizes Julius for letting this knock him down and calls him pathetic, before lifting him up by saying something along the lines of "Even if no one else remembers the shame you put me through in that stadium, I remember. And I remember your strength." It's a very touching moment for the two of them, and helps build their friendship up a lot more from the stagnant place it was at. Not only that but... The Hero, Natsuki Subaru: The scene sheds light on the fact that because Julius' existence was erased, everyone only remembers Subaru as a miracle worker of sorts. They don't remember him as a weirdo who bombed the royal selection and made it about himself before getting his ass beat and then defeating the White Whale and a sin archbishop within like a week. They only remember the good, not the bad. And after this arc, more clever and tricky characters will appear. Not people kind enough as the emilia camp to turn a blind eye to the weird shit Subaru is capable of because "Subaru will be Subaru." Is he really just a miracle worker who has no known place of origin yet arrives seemingly unprecedented during one of the most politically restless times in history in order to help the people? Is he affiliated with the Witch's cult, because of his extensive knowledge and particular hatred for them? Or is he a weirdo, carefully manipulating Emilia's power and emotions of the people around him to get what he wants? How does he seem to always know what to do? Can he be trusted? Can he be used? Who is Natsuki Subaru? And that's the question arc 5 leaves with regards to Subaru's development as a character. Arc 6 is the answer to it, so I won't say much about it. I do urge people to watch the season 4 pv trailer though! it's cute and short, but I watched it at least twenty times this morning.

She mentions that one of her brothers just got beat up and the other one only follows the orders of some woman. Lye was the one who got beat up so it's assumed that Roy is the one who is following someone else's orders. We now have a Gluttony trio. Otto has came in clutch every season since he's been introduced and now he's being forced to sit on the sidelines for a bit. He even got hurt protecting Beatrice. The weapon that she and Felt used was apparently a tool of Echidna's. Why did Felt have that? Why does she have a fake name? Questions for later. Sirius has been captured and she warns Subaru that Petelgeuse is inside of him. That there might come a day where he is brought back to the surface. And to beware of Gluttony. Al is once again very suspicious because he's been moving a bunch of pieces in the shadows and doing or saying things he shouldn't know. And we end the season on a happy note. Or, we would. But Julius has a problem. No one knows who he is. When Gluttony was first introduced, we were told they have three ways of consumption. Consuming a name and making others forget that person. Consuming memories and giving that person amnesia. And consuming both. Crusch had her memories eaten and has had amnesia ever since. Rem had her name and memories eaten and became a husk. And now Julius has had his name eaten so no one except Subaru remembers him.

Rem, on the other hand, had both her name and memories consumed, causing her to fall into a deep sleep. Crusch only lost her memories but not her name because she never revealed it to Gluttony during their battle, allowing her to stay conscious. Gluttony's ability separates names and memories—losing both results in unconsciousness. Names determine how others remember you, while memories define how you remember yourself. Despite this, Subaru can still recall both Rem and Julius due to his unique ability to rewind time. Hope this helps!
