Severance 2x9

devour feculence

Comments

GRETCHENNNN!!!

Yoshi 🌸

I was tired of that milkshake type beat ass nigga but now I’m happy for the snap back

Doctor Drossi

Dude sent her to Svalbard, the most northern point in the world you can go legally lol.

HessianX

Not my dumb ass thinking this season was 9 episodes long like the first one only to realize I stayed up til 3am to "finish" S2 and now I gotta go to work tomorrow sleep deprived waiting for Roshi to release Episode 10 😭😭

Gilthwixt

^ I dislike it as well. She starts off really well, being a really intelligent person (besides marrying who she did and being a weirdo asking strangers for coffee because she liked the way it looked, at a birthing lodge at that lmao), but it feels like they didn’t know which direction to go or how to properly fit her into the rest of the story since there are a lot of characters. Also don’t like how they’re doing other minor things.

neoplansc

Ready for that next reaction after watching the finale🤩

Drey

No he's just an attention whore

Alexis

yall think Kanye is severed?

Balenciagason

I liked the last episode. Like now go back and look at season 1 with the info on her creating serverance. I think thats cool personally.

Kirk Perry

in regards to last episode being low rated. I think it was because of the slow pacing and the episode was focused on mainly Cobel.

David Emerson

Lumon stole her research and she has nothing to show for it. It's more surprising that it took this long for her to turn on them.

Liliana

Tramell Tillman deserves every role he gets after Severance

Jazko

I think that Milchick felt empathetic and emotional when Milchick mentioned ā€œBalanceā€ and it being what Lumon was for. I think Milchick is close to having an existential crisis lol

Jazko

Union Station

Rifat Khan

I think Irvings gonna contact Reghabi to try and reintegrate - I'm sure he'll know who she is and she's not doing much since she's not at Marks anymore, My prediction is there'll be a heist to save Gemma but somehow Helly ends up taking her place for Cold Harbor

bark

Not to mention some live in Lumon housing which has to be at least discounted for those Severed. Maybe discounts for everything Lumon can provide. Thinking on this, the location also plays a factor. This is a fictional place mostly resembling NY and NJ. Housing average between the two is from $535k - $868k. Middle being around $707k. Let's say they are data analysts at the very least. They could be making around $90k but with it being a "controversial" procedure they def gotta bump that up. So yeah I would say maybe $115k a year/ $58 an hour. (all guessing and estimates w/ Zillows help lol. I'm no math wizard)

King ZerĆø

Bruh what a cliffhanger! I need next ep!!

User10101

I honestly hate what they’re doing with Devon’s character these past episodes.

YungZeus

Devour feculence is an epic insult

Lola

How much do y’all think the severed employees make. Considering they have to go through surgery and a psychological split to do the job. I feel like they ought to atleast be making 6 figures. But none of them have any material wealth that would indicate that.

Chipper

The Irving and Burt scene at the station was probably the most heartbreaking thing I seen in a while. It truly resonated with me on such a frequency that it felt like exposure therapy.

Uly A O

Honestly I need a list with just Milchick’s vocabulary and a worksheet. I want to be adding those words to my daily vocabulary. And devour feculence is going to replace eat shit for me as my fav new phrase.

Uly A O

Fuck Drummond!! Milchick’s my favorite character.

Clinton the Bingethinker

I know u need me rain

Jamie

Her mom was anti-Kier and she loved her mom dearly. Add in that Lumon stole from her and I think this has been brewing for a long time.

Cho

LMAO

Cho

We've definitely seen enough of them to get a feel for their relationship imo. The show does a good job of that. We've seen that he's less of a supportive partner and more of another child she has to raise. He can't keep a job, yes, but he's also selfish in that he spends their money frivolously to find himself (we saw she had to remind him not to buy another car they didn't need just because he wanted one as well as how expensive the hobbies he starts and then drops are) I've noticed a gender divide with how people view Outie Dylan. Men are like "He doesn't hit her, he earns a paycheck, and he's just sad! I don't get the problem!" where as women see the emotional and financial burden he puts on his wife without reciprocity

Cho

Bruh we wish you wouldn’t talk but you don’t learn clearly

RainSD

Guys I’m not saying he’s abusive. I was being hyperbolic. Im saying there’s a negative connotation towards outie Dylan in general. I don’t think we’ve actually seen enough from them to determine the state of their relationship.

Chipper

I hate how ominous Irving’s outie was in season 1 and in season 2 you find out he’s just a puppy with a dumbass smile who also happens to be running covert ops😭

Denn B

LMAOO Milchick deadass pulled the Denzel Washington on Drummond ā€œget you’re mf hands off meā€

Matt

Drummond don’t like a black man with a big vocabulary… oh yeah them racial layers are piling up. Milichick gotta break free.

Cam Kaneki

I feel like the theory you guys talked about last episode is right. That they are trying to sell severed experiences and Cold Harbor is testing to see if an innie can experience the end of life for you.

Just Gene

Fuck it another shot in the dark: Mr. Drummond and Ricken are related. They lowkey look the same but you notice Drummond hates big words, Ricken's book doesn't use a lot of big words. I need it to be next Thursday already

vesra

this is gonna be weirdly put together but bear with me: I think Helena is working against her father for her own gain, and is using Irving to help her. Helena's the one downstairs in this episode, not Helly R. Listen to the elevator chime it's a different tone. Compare the tone from S2E1 when Helena first goes downstairs to this episode when she gets to work. Also, notice how she's briefly confused about which way to go since she's not well versed in where MDR is located in that giant ass maze. The elevator chime is very specific when it's the outies vs the innies being portrayed. However, it could just be a continuity error but then again Ben Stiller said everything in this show is intentional. When Helena's eating breakfast with her father Jame, she mentions 'we're taking care of Mr. Bailiff' - Irving's last name is Bailiff. Burt then is at Irving's house and instead of taking him to the destination to be killed like he was supposed to, Burt takes him to the train station instead and helps Irving escape. Then Jame pops up on the SVR'd floor saying 'you tricked me'. How else would Irving have so much detailed information on the names and addresses of so many SVR'd employees? Plus we already saw Mr. Drummond go into Irving's house so Lumon has to know he's got classified info. They likely underestimated his bond with Burt and figured Burt would just play along like always. My hot take: Helena now recognizes the innies as 'people' due to all the times she's been threatened and attacked, plus because she recognizes their capacity for love; Dylan G. and Gretchen, Irv B. and Burt G. (plus Irving and Burt's outies), and then Helly R. with Mark. However, she still wants her shot with Mark so she's gonna try to get Gemma out of the picture somehow and then she can swoop in on Mark for herself.

UnkindledRage

Lupas locs gettin long šŸ”„šŸ”„

Jesse Hill

Tf you talking about?

Just Shinji

@maui maybe I haven't been on trains enough. I had to catch an amtrak out of New Rochelle a few months ago and that station was just a shack lol. (Maybe a little exaggerated)

Garlic

In season one they said that Kier's favourite breakfast was three raw eggs in milk (nasty). Whether there's implications beyond that is up to interpretation, but I wouldn't be surprised with the revelation this episode that he probably has a ton of illegitimate kids, also.

KomodoughDragon

Imagine thinking this old woman is just a friendly neighbour but is actually your brother’s boss who has been spying on him outside of work and took your baby? It still makes no sense to me that Devon would just immediately resort to calling Cobel. She doesn’t even know that she invented severance. Makes me wonder… Is Devon working for Lumon?

Itanna

It's what makes the Milchick "use smaller words" thing more egregious, too. Everyone at Lumon talks the exact same way that Milchick does, but he's the only one getting reprimanded for it, like they're constantly reminding him that he's not actually one of them.

KomodoughDragon

What the hell does "I wish you had them raw" even meannnn. That shit is creepy af. Why would he prefer she eat them raw, is there a double meaning, whaat does this imply?!?

maui

nah Burt dapping me up after love bombing me, making me feel things I never felt before, and then leaving me would mad me crash out. Would've had me like "WHY YOU BEING WEIRD TO MEEE!"

maui

Could be, but I also saw someone comment how she's mad young and only really regurgitating things she's learned from her upbringing, but seeing as how she's growing and learning, she's finding herself at odds with what she sees going on, so she does genuinely feel bad for them and that makes sense to me ig.

maui

I enjoyed it, sure it was the "worst" episode so far, but it was still fire. I enjoyed how it expanded the world and mystery of Lumon and Severance as well as getting to know Cobel further and progressing her character.

maui

A lot of train stations are like that no? I mean I'm from NYC so it could just be that but, I'm used to many interstate train stations being like that.

maui

A dap up is insane after all that lol.

maui

It appears so, didn't even notice on my first watch, but noticed it now in the reaction. What the hell was my boy doing down there. Did he meet with Gemma or was he kinda just seeing how things were proceeding down there??

maui

Oouuu, I didn't make the connection that Mr. Drummond could be one of however many illegitimate children of Jame. Him referring to Jame as "father" has bugged me since it was mentioned, and I've been waiting for the show to further explain, I guess this could be a possible answer.

maui

Feel bad for Miss Huang tbh. Ripped from her childhood home and sent to live in an Arctic mining town. And had probably her only toy destroyed

Jack

lmaoo I get it but like also he was hurting badly after losing love, like the worst thing he's ever experienced in his existence. I would def check him in the future about it, but I would let it slide at first, knowing what he just went through.

maui

This, at first I thought like them, that he believed they were going to get rid of him, which they still might. But then thinking on it, it does appear to be that Mark's comment really resonated with him and made him think about how he has no life outside of his job. He's not severed but he's still trapped by his work, an eternal innie if you will.

maui

innie irv was so grief stricken by Burt being gone he dedicated himself to undermining Lumon and died in the process, this show is amazing

DJ Muldrow

Dylan straight up chose to die this episode because he couldn’t be with Gretchen

DJ Muldrow

I feel like no one comments on how all the innies choose death over not being able to love who they love, it shows their humanity implying that yes they are people not just things for use.

DJ Muldrow

Swimming makes you hungry ass shit how the hell she only eating 1 boiled egg 🤣 Lupa you can get a wayyy better looking cutter on Amazon for $19-29.99 šŸ‘šŸ¾

HBK713šŸ„šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

Yea I noticed this episode how Helly always has like a "i'm that bitch" pep in her step and Helena doesn't

Corey Leach

Yeah. And it’s freaking annoying. All their conversations sound overly dramatized, especially when they talk to each other. I don’t know how their cult grows, I can’t take them seriously.

BZD

Pretty sure that's jus how Keir family and followers are trained to speak since childhood.

Corey Leach

Why is lupa talking in this video Isn’t he learned

Jamie

ā€œBalance, isn’t that what lumon is all about?ā€ Milchick gave his life to lumon, that phrase saddened him šŸ˜”

DJ Muldrow

I get what you mean but Devon spent quite a bit of time with Cobel previously so I think that counts with Devon choosing her. I wouldn't trust Reghabi neither if I was her. Imagine going to your sibling's place, knocking constantly, talk with them for a bit, then suddenly they collapse hard af. Then a woman suddenly pops out the basement.

Corey Leach

i hate how they be doing my girl helly 🤧 they’re lucky she hates lumon and helena more then she hates them constantly talking down on her …if i was her i would’ve been turned on them

šŸ’

Love will make folks do some crazy things lol. The parallels of that is crazy tho bc he did in a way bring some life, or joy, back into her depressing life.

Corey Leach

The thing with Ms Huang is that she's still just a child. Her previous comments about treating them like people is because that's how she was raised and that ideology is literally all she knows. She's still growing and developing as a person. Milchick basically made her destroy the last remnants of her childhood. I feel like she genuinely felt bad for Dylan when he quit.

Evan

I think this might be Irving’s last appearance this season but I feel like they have to eventually bring him back in some regard in season 3 since there is still so much unresolved/unexplained with his character. I know Turturro said he didn’t enjoy acting on the severed floor office set but I hope they can still incorporate his character into the series’ plot even if his character doesn’t go back to the severed floor. Another thing that was interesting about this episode was how Helly was beginning to realize she couldn’t deny how she shares some qualities with Helena. Specifically how both of them were able to fool the people closest to them (Helly to James Eagan and Helena to Mark S.) into not realizing that they weren’t actually who they were pretending to be. Also Helena’s comment at the beginning of the episode about how ā€œwe’re seeing to Mr. Bailiffā€ makes me wonder if she sent orders to Burt to have Irving delivered (to Lumon/a kill site?). Also this episode seems to confirm that James Eagan is notorious for having children out of wedlock with multiple women. So I wonder if Mr. Drummond is possibly Helena’s older half-sibling and is a bastard child of James Eagan? Since earlier in the season Mr. Drummond referred to James Eagan in dialogue like ā€œfather commanded itā€ during some scenes with Helena.

Theo Vorster

I think Sheera was kinda right when she said that Milchick is empathizing with MDR. Milchick realizing Lumon's weird racism and that they treat him like he treats Mark and them. He's done his job to the best of his ability and still gets shit on. Also I really hope I'm wrong on this but it seems like the show was hinting that Dylan G. got sent to the same place where Gemma is trapped in. I'm gaining a small theory that lovebirds are a prime test subject for Lumon's severance thing probably bc it is said how love is greater than a lot of things. I think Irving might join the severance resistance and meet somebody important or he might somehow bump into Reghabi. It's crazy that Gretchen kinda provoked her husband into killing his innie and she made her innie basically kill himself lmao 😭😭

Corey Leach

I love that we’re happy that milchek stood up to drummond when he’s literally just as worse as them because he knows that mark’s wife is down there and he said nothing no about it

Yazeed

But the fact that he even agreed to the surgery should give her reason to trust Regahbi. Not to mention Mark never listened to her when she said don’t move, it’s not that surgery was unsuccessful.

Itanna

Well I think Devon makes it pretty clear that they don’t trust Cobel but they feel like they don’t have any other options. Devon’s been put off of going along with Regahbi’s methods because of the scare she had with Mark passing out and literally just learning that her brother got so desperate that he subjected himself to literal basement brain surgery.

Theo Vorster

Bro, the Innie Dylan thing was sad and pathetic, lol. "I can give you a life" Bruh how? You only exist in these walls, you can't leave, lmao

Ezra

Gemma did note in her episode how Lumon employees don’t talk normally and how it’s so aggravating.

Theo Vorster

Milchick was teary eyed not because he thinks he’s getting fired but because mark saying ā€œwork is just work right?ā€ hit him hard. Milchicks whole life is centered around lumon from what we’ve seen. He does not have his own life outside of it and yet they still treat him like crap

Danielle

I do wonder how much about the testing floor Milchick actually knows about? Like he obviously knows that Ms. Casey is Gemma and Mark’s wife, but I wonder if he’s privy to what exactly is being done on the testing floor itself?

Theo Vorster

Irv getting rizzed into abandoning his investigation is crazy.

Sam

one thing i jus thought abt if that’s where helly lives in the morning how far is her commute to work does everyone live near there?

Fred

I think Milchik was sympathetic to mark. He realized how Drummond and lumon Is treating him is exactly how he’s treating mark and the other severed employees. And realized he also has no work/life balance

Stanley Livingston

Atp my theory is that old buddy is prepping Helly to transfer his body into so he can keep living. Only because he seems super overbearing but only about what goes on with her body, like how he reacted when she got hurt by her innie and the way he's spectating her eating and wanting her to take the eggs raw. Like it's a stretch, but I could see cold harbor being replacement of one or both of the consciousnesses with another person's entirely

Justin Neason

I feel so bad because Milchick probably got rid of Miss Huang in part because he thought she was the one who complained about big words only for it to be Drummond.

Sam

I’m ngl I don’t like how Devon and Mark were so quick to trust Cobel but every time Regahbi tried to help they were so apprehensive. It’s weird cause Devon especially should never have been the one to call Cobel

Itanna

I’m pretty sure that ā€œpromotionā€ was a bait n switch and they were plotting to take her out, remember episode 3 at timestamp 43:00/45 minutes in, Cobel felt something was off and peeled off fast af in her car.

That guy joe

Did Jame come up from the black hallway elevator?

Anthony Lazarin

When Mark said work is just work Milcheck realised he has no life outside of work

Expired Breast Milk

It's a real station can't remember the name though

Anthony Lazarin

I think she believes in Keir but she is just against lumon the company now.

Stanley Livingston

Burt ain't shit. Telling me you love me, saving my life from certain death, then dapping me up and calling me buddy is CRAZY

vesra

what kind of fancy ass train station was that? marble walls?

Garlic

That is true

Casual

Also, I think the fact that it’s clear he sees them as people and knows they’re essentially like slaves but still choosing to work there makes it worse imo.

Danielle

Yeah, but she's been indoctrinated in their ideology for so long that it doesn't make sense to me that this is something that turns her. Mind you, they kinda had a good reason to replace because of what took place with indies. Becuz she created severance, I wont say that it wasn't in "good faith"

Isaac Cobbinah

People didn’t like last episode cause it shifted the trajectory of the ending of this season, they could’ve revealed harmony’s inventions earlier on in the season the should’ve focused on the after math of Mark’s reintegration instead of waiting to the last episode for some solo leveling ass cliffhanger. Not only that the episode was 30 minutes long and far less interesting than all 8 other episodes

Jah

Facts I feel like that was a manipulation tactic

Quentin

I don't think they were elevating her in good faith though. They were just want to keep her on a tight leash and she knows that plus severance is her life's work so it kinda makes sense why she would want to have authority over it given the fact that they pretty much stole it from her without even accrediting her

Quentin

My only thing is that there's no real justification for why cobel is doing this imo. There haven't been a good reason, I don't think being fired is a good reason, especially when they wanted to elevate her role in the company

Isaac Cobbinah

im kinda confused why ms wong felt bad because didnt she ask milchick why he treats them like people?

Mellow.grizzly

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

Maybe Dylan went down, not up? That’s why the elevator lit up

Bryanne

The egg scene seems to has something to do with fertility, the way it split made me think of how cells divide. lol Lupa i promise you that kitchen tool is not worth it and will end up just being clutter

Warif Elobaid

is lupa wearing a cookies vest?šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Kablamoo101

Mr. Milchick was looking at that photo of the Iceberg, probably thinking like "This is the tip of Iceberg," which could show like he feels it is all over for his career, and/or he has some idea of what Mark is doing and knows that he's bouta become a problem.

EJ Katt

big setup ep for the finale, so many people about to hit a major life change rn

Tejiri Ubiedi

Cobel could have made things a lot easier by not speaking like some weird sage.

BZD

Yea but he is the lesser of two evils in that situation and the guy was being a dickhead like not my fault you dont understand big words

Casual

Drummond could've hit him with "So it's your fault MDR hasn't hit quota?" never play the blame game with your boss.

Ghost_Troupe

The next episode is going to be 1 hour 30 min long. We bouta eat good next week!

Ghost_Troupe

Nah outie Dylan's not a bad guy, he's just floundering. He can't keep a job, doesn't have any real direction, just keeps wanting to be something more. He just doesn't have the drive/skill/luck to get there, now he can't even try because his experience is all locked in an innie. I've had friends like this, most break through and do good, 1-2 just get depressed and spiral.

Huemon Nottabear

I don’t think they framed him as abusive at all. They did frame him as in inattentive husband. He’s not great at managing their kids (she has to remind him of everything) and it appears as though he’s not very reciprocal in their affections (His wife is constantly reassuring him of his abilities whereas Outie Dylan hasn’t been shown to do the same but Innie Dylan does). I personally don’t think it’s a mundane marriage issue

PetersThimble

Yeah it’s very blatant racism. I love how they’ve made that a through line though and acknowledging the differences between how it is for a black man to be in a position of power

PetersThimble

I dont remember an actual bad things that Outie Dylan has done. The way the show frames it makes it seem like he's an abusive deadbeat(hyperbole). If anything Gretchen and Dylan are in a mundane part of their marriage. It doesn't feel like its either of their fault they're just stressed and going through the motions on the daily. If anything the only difference between the outie and innie is that the innie isn't burdened with the responsibilities or worries that exist in life on the outside.

Chipper

And he literally only used one syllable words for the rest of what he said to Drummond šŸ˜‚

GrandNubian

Milkcheeks dropped the mike with the mo-no-sy-lla-bic "It's not my fault what Mark Scout does when he is not at work, it's yours"

Inconspicuous Pug

Drummond probably wanted ā€œi sorry, Massaā€

GrandNubian

Milchick is as much of a villain as the rest of them. He knows Gemma will be killed once Cold Harbor is completed and he’s helping keep her prisoner.

GrandNubian

It’s really interesting how they choose the lighting when it’s Helena vs Helly, they try to make her hair look almost black when it’s Helena, vs the bright red when it’s Helly. At least, when it’s Helena just being herself and not pretending to be Helly.

BZD

LETS FUCKING GO MILCHICK STAND ON MF BUSINESS

Casual

Everyone talks about Chris Walkens inflection. People forget that he's an amazing actor, also 80 years old and been in entertainment for 65 years. Also, just learned he started as a lion tamer at 15 years old, that's crazy.

Huemon Nottabear

I think for Milkshake it was the "work is just work" conversation that hit him hard. This entire season hes been treating work as his entire life and I think when Mark said that it hit home for him that this is just a job.

PetersThimble

Milkshake crash out when??

Eva

Thought it said Devour Flatulence....I was worried

Cobalt’s stare at the end gives off a x10 vibe of by-the-book Irving’s ā€œburn this place to the groundā€ crashout

Guns

You don’t moan during sex? I be in my girls ear like ā€œGRETCHEEENNNā€

Fred_D3

was Drummond trying to get him to say, "I sorry". I know Seth is supposed to be a "villain" but I'm kinda rooting for him.

Huemon Nottabear

I didn't know last episode was lowly rated, but I can kinda understand why. It was a slower episode completely dedicated to Ms. Cobel without checking in on any other characters, so if you don't really care for Ms. Cobel then it was probably a tough watch. I liked the episode though. I didn't really have that much of an attachment to her but the ending of it obviously made me a lot more insterested in her going forward. (Also had some nice world building)

Kami_Psy

it's not lost on me how everybody at lumon uses elevated language but they only take issue with milchick using it - very interesting commentary. also, the difference in innie mark's "she's alive" is very intriguing. i wonder if he won't want to cooperate because now he likes helly and has something to lose? aaah the finale can't come quick enough!

cami Ł‹

The season finale will be 76 minutes long. Something big is coming!

Digiflash

I think when Mark mentioned that Lumon was all about balance and then asked Milchick ā€œisn’t that rightā€, it did something to Milchick since he isn’t severed ant can’t really ā€œescapeā€ Lumon when he leaves

Jayzion Wheller

Dylan looks in the mirror, "You fucken my wife", punches himself in the face.
