We know he doesn't share senses with them based off the fact that he couldn't tell they were being destroyed by the demon knights in the tower, and had to go see what was happening himself. He just knows something happened to whoever the shadow belongs to, based on whether the person or the shadow soldier dies (Goto).

We know he doesn't share senses with his soldiers because as others have pointed out, he didn't know it was demon knights destroying them until he actually went and saw them. You keep saying in other comments that he "purposely" waited for the healer to die, as if he was supposed to somehow know when he died. He wasn't there when the s-ranks were sparring so there was no shadow on him and the video feed is on a 10-minute delay, so how in the hell would he know that? He only knows something is wrong now because GOTO died (we saw his sword break), not Byung-Gyu. That's likely what made him do the exchange now, especially considering Goto was the strongest hunter on the island. You keep bringing up the sister thing as a way to strengthen your argument about the shadow soldiers but it doesn't. He didn't tell the orcs to just "watch" his sister; he told them to protect her. Anything dangerous happens and they automatically step in and protect her. He didn't even have the Shadow Exchange skill yet when he put them in his sister's shadow. The ones he attached to the s-ranks were regular ass soldiers. You think he told them to protect the s-ranks that are way stronger than them? Or do you think he put them there juuuuust in case something rare happened.......like it just did? That way he could switch if necessary. You're legit making an argument based on how you THINK his powers work, rather than how they actually do. Just like how you think that, because YOU think number four is a horrible reason, it means it is. It's really not, though. The guilds and hunters have a system in place for buying gates. The Hunters Guild paid for the rights to that gate so legally, he had to wait until there was REAL danger and had to get permission. He can't just go in someone else's shit and start killing just because he wants to. It's the same reason he used Stealth to weaken the orcs they were fighting earlier without (most of) them knowing.

Just to clarify some things for non-readers. Don’t worry no spoilers. 1a) The black ant gains the skills and knowledge of creatures it eats. It targeted Cha first because after it ate the queen it knew who landed the finishing blow. 1b) The black ant did not eat the Japanese hunters, so it did not understand human language before eating the healer guy. It was able to locate the healer because as it was slamming the giant guy on the ground repeatedly, it was able to pinpoint where the healing mana is coming from even through camouflage. 2) Jinwoo wasn’t able to exchange earlier because it was still on cooldown, and he couldn’t use his shadow soldiers to protect them before hand because if a shadow soldier attached to someone dies, it respawns near Jinwoo, so then he wouldn’t be able to exchange to go there. Also fyi, Goto is actually the second strongest Asian hunter in the world at this time (not counting Jinwoo), so keep that in mind.

The demon clan was wiping out his shadows but he couldn’t see who it was, he had no telepathic ability with them. He placed the shadows on his sister so that they can protect her. He didn't have Shadow Exchange yet when he did this. How riled up are you that you mixed this stuff up? I think at this point you just have no idea how Jinwoo's powers actually work. As Eiichiro Oda would say: "This is a matter of reading comprehension". The anime has given you all the context necessary to understand that Jinwoo either has no way to remotely know what his shadows feel and think, or that his shadows have no understanding of what information they need to communicate to him. As was pointed out above, when his active shadows got destroyed in the demon tower, he didn't know it was being done by a squad of demon knights until he actually made contact himself. Combine this with the 10 minute delay on the footage and any logical and calm person would understand that Jinwoo simply had no way of knowing what was happening at the time.

Even if what u said is true, Cha getting one shot should've been a message enough for the shadow to disappear itself to inform Sung. We all see that his soldiers have their own personality and they are not like some mindless drones (altho they will still follow his orders). Again on the A-rank issue. Everyone literally knew that they were no match for The Orc mage let alone the normal ones. They have showed the A-rank captain to actually prioritize his teammates instead of the dungeon. Again buddy, to reply back to you. Jinwoo can’t perceive through his shadows. Regarding his sister, the 3 shadows he has attached to her are A+ Rank. Most things besides S ranks wouldn’t be able to hurt them. AND if they did, then at that point when 1 dies Jinwoo is made aware and he immediately teleports. Like someone else just said, Jin ah is a high schooler with no hunter abilities, the only things that can hurt her are people and hunters in the real world (with the exception of the ants, but they dungeon break). So unless a hunter is actively trying to hurt his sister in the real world, then nothing would kill her.

Jinwoo can only sense things when his shadows disappear (when either the shadow or the host of the shadows dies) or when they become active (no longer in there passive state). In this case, Hunter Goto and his shadow blocking attacks is what alarmed him. Also another consideration you’re not accounting for is how fast the encounter with the black ant was. Yes, when he first pulled up to team Japan it was a couple min (2 at most), but when it came to fighting, it was rather quick, something of at least 30 to 60 seconds. It’s ok though, next episode I hope they show everything in detail without leaving anything out. If they do, you’ll know that Jinwoo wasn’t too aware of the situation.

There’s a few things your miss understanding regarding the summons. Though I agree with you on how they set up the scenario, the anime leaves out a few important details that you wouldn’t know if you didn’t read it. 1. Jinwoo can only know what’s going on with his summons if he actively perceives through them. There’s been 2 panels where it’s distinctively shown this, one of them being even really funny. 2. Because of reason number 1. Jinwoo can only tell something’s off by the summon being destroyed and that can only happen in 1 of 2 ways, either his summon is directly destroyed or the person his summon is attached to dies. In this case, the hunter cha being in a state of death/life is what proct it the awareness as well as goto dying, Though the summon actually fighting is what caused the exchange. 3. I don’t know why they made him be on a roof, bc normally the man was just walking around after his morning work out. 4. Regarding the A-Rank scenario the only reason he didn’t join in right away is bc that dungeon permit didn’t belong to him and it wasn’t his place to just fight everyone. If he just immediately blitz everything then that creates a scenario where the hunter guild owes him multiple favors. Which in this world for guilds, it isn’t favorable. That’s why he asked the A-Rank if he would be ok with him intervening. 5. Last episode, the cameraman told the tank that they don’t have anything to worry about, as the broadcast is on a 10 min. delay, this happened on the helicopter ride. I am on the same boat as you, I understand that the show is called solo leveling, but I personally am not a fan of the “aura farming” that the anime is making the show portrait. I don’t like how the show cuts out the comedic scene and some of the semi important scenes, but hey we gotta be happy with what we got sometimes.

It's been too long since I read this arc in the webtoon, but I don't ever remember being annoyed or something not making sense. Thus I'm assuming the webtoon gave better execution/explanation for Jinwoo's 'delay' so to speak. Although I don’t entirely remember how much info he can get from his shadows, he is right about Jinwoo showing up because of Goto dying and the shadow he had attached to him returning. Goto was the strongest there so him dying must have meant something very unexpected happened. Although Jinwoo has stepped in comedically late at times to help people, he isn’t one to let good people just die for no reason if he can help it. Also to address the point about the shadow on his sister, I feel like people forget that the High Orcs he placed on them (I believe Tusk’s personal guards before they were killed and summoned by Jinwoo) are strong enough to handle 99.5% of the hunter and monster population we’ve seen up to this point aside from S Rank and above threats and I doubt Jinwoo thought at the moment that any such threat would be targeting her nor did he really have the agency to spare any of his other stronger soldiers (like Igris and Tusk) considering him barely surviving the fight with Baran at the 100th floor of the Demon Castle

He attached them to his sister because the orcs are strong enough to handle any perceived threat that Jin-ah could come across. She not a hunter, she’s a high schooler, unless she gets into a fight with an S ranker, Jin-ah would be protected with the 3 high orcs. At this time, Jin-woo does not share any of his senses with the shadows.

One possible explanation may be that the black ant, after killing Goto in an instance, senses the shadow hiding underneath Goto and kill it, which let Sung know (since his MP drops) and tell the other shadow soldiers to protect the Korean S-rank. And it’s been shown many times that Sung cannot oversee his shadows from far away except when they die and his MP bar drop that he would know something is wrong. Moreover, most of the low rank shadows (specifically Igris’s zombie-like living armors squad) seems to be very low intelligent and only receive simple commands, so they cannot judge the situations and protect the S-ranks by their own will without Sung’s direct command. Jinwoo thought with the amount of s rank there, they should've been able to handle the raid and he had fulfill his role of a hunter being that he became a hunter only to cure his mom so nothing else really mattered. First of all, He can communicate with his shadow as that is how he can give them orders like mining or protecting his sister. Secondly, His mp doesnt drop when they are killed. It drops when he resummons them as he already said multiple times already. It doesnt get resummoned automatically and thats up to his choice if he wants to or not. and thirdly for the delay part, We literally see him on the rooftop with no radio, portable tv, or anything that updates him on what's going on but just his jacket to look cool. Dont forget that Sung let the A-rank get beaten up first back in the Orc dungeon before stepping in despite everyone knowing including him that the A-rank stands no chance. He had lots of time to step in the moment Cha who is primarily focused on speed as an S-rank got outspeed by the Ant by appearing behind and one shotting her down.

I suspect Jinwoo can probably see *something* once he takes control of a specific soldier, otherwise he would have no clue where he's going. That's a possibility though, I guess we will find out more about how it works next episode. Needless to say, it's counter productive for Jinwoo to sit around and wait for people to die. Not all of the S ranks, just Goto from the Japanese team and four from the Korean team (the fire guy, the woman, the tiger guy and the chairman who isn't on the raid). But yes, once Goto was killed and the shadow was returned to him he knew something was up. They had already broadcasted that the queen died (you could see people cheering) but then all of a sudden, Goto's shadow returns to him. If they killed the boss, but the strongest guy there was one-shot after the fact, you know it's something going down.

When you only watch for the action, you miss the dialogue that told you the news broadcast was on a 10 minute delay, in case something like this happened. He also didn't have shadows on EVERYONE, just a few people. The healer wasn't there when they sparred, so he didn't have one and everyone else in that group was still alive I think. Most likely, when Goto got killed, the shadow on him is what alerted Jinwoo to something being wrong. Jinwoo's shadow soldiers would do absolutely nothing against the black ant, if they appeared up then they would just be insta wiped and Jinwoo would lose his ability to exchange with anyone in that room. However they than can hold their own against the regular ants for a little (very little) bit. His normal soldiers are essentially cannon fodder, in this case they are most useful for a small delay tactic and information gathering. Now ya'll could argue if Jinwoo placed Igris, Tank, Tusk or Iron on the S ranks they should of popped out because they can buy more time and be a little more useful than the normal cannon fodder soldiers he assigned to them. Plus as already stated above Jinwoo didn't know what was happening till after it already happened.

The Black Ant is very strong and very intelligent. He actually targets Cha because (and I think either the manwha or novel covered this) he recognized her speed as a threat to him and took her out first. Then took out their tank and Frontline fighter before eliminating their ranged combatants. And he did not know about the leather at first, and couldn't see through the camo skill. But by repeatedly beating the guy into the ground he forced the healer to keep healing and tracked him by his mana. And by eating his head, he learned their dialect. I love this arc and the Ant King!

Some extra details, The Black Ant ate the remains of its mother in order to get memories of who killed her, which is why Cha got taken out first. Eating the healer after gave it the ability to speak. You can somewhat infer that but just it seems likely that won't really be expanded upon. Also, Jinwoo can't see through his shadows, and I think there's confusion on just who his shadows were attached to. Only Goto from the Japanese side had one while the rest were on the Korean hunters because of being close in contact with him during the spar. The healer, Byung-Gyu had not made the decision to join the raid yet obviously, thus he had no shadow. Only by death would a shadow be returned to Jinwoo though and alert him that things are going wrong, so Goto's death was the signal to finally act. As much as it looks like an aura farm, there was no prior knowledge of the Black Ant so in all fairness, the hunters sent would have accomplished the mission fine and been safe. Can't account for what you don't know otherwise Jinwoo would have gone from the jump.
