How in this situation would not talking about your experience make sense? How does not believing someone on face value in your present situation make any sense? You are actively being hunted. Your surroundings are actively trying to do you harm. In what world does not supporting each other and communicating a sensible course of action? You have to seriously suspend your disbelief/ common sense to make this show work. After week 2 there you know what’s up and continuing to deny after months or years is just odd.

Also, I'm ngl I'm team Boyd overall but it's clear the way he feels about the cop lady is partially projection. Crashing out on her over what happened when she first got here is just as ridiculous as if someone were to crashout on him for not shooting Abby immediately when he got back to town. She literally saw humanoid creatures everywhere, there was no way to know wtf was goin on, and just like him she doesn't just take a back seat when she wants to take initiative. She also has no reason to trust Boyd like the town does since she don't have any context beyond how he's acting with her, I just hope they make them both somewhat reasonable instead of making her stay an op for no reason LOL. Jim is 100% annoying this season, but I think the writing for why kinda makes sense. From his perspective, every time they tried to find shit out the place clapped back. Tried the radio? A dude knew his name and where his wife was and told them to stop. Digging in the basement? The house collapsed and a dude got mauled under there with him, bro had to stay there all night. Boyd went to the forest to find a way out? Fucking cicadas spawned in and his daughter was being tortured in some unknown ass way. Sara thought she knew the way out? Tried to kill their son. Tabitha thought she knew the way out? Went missing and he had to grieve as if she were dead. Literally EVERY TIME someone tries some shit something happens to his family, so I get it but like Tabitha said, fuck shit will happen here REGARDLESS. So I am NOT boutta just sit there and be chill 💀

I wouldn't mind if he was playing a minor role/side character. I mean, I could even tolerate the dude who lost his mind and shot Boyd. But since he is playing a more main/important role, it's difficult to overlook. I think he may lack some experience with major roles (based on IMDB) and add to that the sometimes mid/cringe writing/directing of this show. Not a good combination for him. I'm not saying everyone else has a oscar worthy performance, but with him for some reason it's more apparent. I felt this way about him since the first episode he appeared on and unfortunately did not change by the end of this season.

Abby was purely psychological, she mentally snapped from the stress and thought that killing people would wake them up from this "dream/nightmare" (basically the wife's situation in Inception who... well spoilers, but you know if you have seen the movie). And the lone shooter dude did it more so for revenge because Boyd pushing back against this place by looking for a way out by exploring deep into the forest and bringing back the worms did make things worse. It caused the people to get attacked in their sleep, which ended up killing the dude's gf, so he mainly wanted to get revenge against Boyd specifically for making things worse.
